Fall/Winter Fashion

Fall Dress

Good morning! I don’t usually post an outfit post on Sundays, but I skipped a day of 25 Days of Fall Fashion for a sponsored skincare post, so I’m finishing up today. Alison and I shot some new fall looks on Friday, so I had a few to choose from, and I decided to wrap up the series with a fall dress!

This mosaic tie waist shirtdress is the perfect work to dinner dress for fall. I love the play on fall florals — the floral design is subtle so the mosaic pattern takes over, so it’s a great way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe if you’re not a big florals fan.

Plus this combination of colors is perfect for fall. I’m seeing a lot of navy this year, which I love. It’s softer than black and flatters almost everyone.

The tie waist helps give this shirtdress some shape, and it has a little keyhole button closure in the back, but the prettiest part of this dress is the the blouson sleeves with wide button cuff.

I paired it with my cognac suede knee-high boots for a traditional look, but you could also wear it with booties, or of course pumps or even ballet flats if you’re not into heels. I can even see navy tights with this dress in the wintertime with maybe a darker brown boot. Adding tights and darker boots would make it more dressed up.

For reference, I’m 5’5″, and I’m wearing a size 6 regular. It comes in regular, petite, and plus sizes.

I forgot to bring my bag to the photo shoot, but I would carry something like this or this, or this for a less expensive option. I love the new “cashew butter” color from kate spade new york.

Since the dress has a lot going on, I just accessorized with a pair of double circle earrings, and called it a day.

I can totally see this as a work wear piece for fall, and it’s also a great dress for church or a conservative dinner out.

  1. This is a beautiful look on you! And your hair looks great in these photos. Thanks for sharing your different styles and helpful hints on how to wear clothing.

  2. Love the dress and those sleeves. I like how you paired it with those boots too. Thanks for a great fall series. Now hopefully we can start to style and enjoy them before winter.

  3. This dress is so cute! I wouldn’t have considered it if I was just going off of Loft’s site, because they make it look really short. From your pictures, I can see that it’s almost knee length, which is what I look for in a dress. Thank you from one 5’5″ human to another!

  4. Thanks for finishing the fall series strong and what a cute outfit. I love the dress with the tall boots for a more casual look. You did a great job with all your outfits, now we just need some fall weather in Texas so we can start wearing our fall outfits!

  5. Jo-Lynne, you look very nice in this dress, and I think that is very versatile.  It is a style that can be worn by ladies of various shapes and sizes.  Thank you for letting us know about the Loft sale!  Have a blessed Sunday!

  6. Oh my goodness! You look so beautiful. I love this dress and the way you styled it with tall boots. I am always looking up boots and dresses outfits on Pinterest, but most have too much of a boho vibe for me. This outfit is exactly the kind I have been wanting to try out.

  7. Good morning Beautiful! This has arrived at the perfect time! I am on my way to meet up with my friend for some shopping , dinner at outback a glass of wine and some girl talk to celebrate my birthday a day early! 🍷🎉 cheers!

  8. Cute dress JoLynne! I love the print and the style could take you anywhere. Pair it with heels & a blazer for work or pair it with flats & a Jean jacket for weekend running around. Love it with the tall boots. It would also be cute with a pair of higher shaft booties. I have just the pair 😀

  9. Oh Wow!!!  So funny you styled this dress. I was in the Loft store last week and they had this dress featured and I really liked it and thought I should try it on, but wasn’t in the mood to shop. I just scanned the clearance rack and left.  Now wishing I had. I’m not sure if I’d need the regular or petite. I’m shorter than you, but don’t like dresses too short.  You look great and the boots go so well.  I like navy better than black too, but sometimes find it hard to find the right pair of shoes to wear with dresses that are navy.  Your boots are perfect.  Great post pictures.

  10. Thanks for the wonderful 30 days of fall fashion series! You helped nudge me out of my comfort zone. Now have both a camo utility jacket and camo skinny jeans thanks to your inspiration!! Have a blessed Sunday.
