Easy Ways to Warm Up Your Space This Season

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post.

It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Pennsylvania, and it has me wanting to decorate our home for the season. I’m not one to go all out with seasonal décor, but I do like to make a few small updates—switching out the throw blankets on my sofas, adding warm-toned vases, and bringing in some floral accents. It’s like accessorizing your home: simple little additions that instantly shift a room into the season.

This year, Walmart invited me to take a look at their fall home collection, and I was impressed with all of their cozy, budget-friendly finds. I pulled together a roundup of stylish accents that are perfect for updating your space this season, and I even ordered a few for myself. I’ll share once I’ve styled them, but in the meantime, here are some of my top picks—plus a few easy tips for warming up your home for fall.

Affordable Accents That Make Your Home Feel Like Fall

Layer In the Warmth

When it comes to fall, layering is everything—whether in fashion or home décor. Chunky knit throws, faux-fur pillows, or a textured rug instantly add warmth and comfort. I like to drape a blanket over the sofa or pile a few patterned pillows onto a chair for that lived-in, inviting vibe.

Bring Nature Indoors

Just like leather boots or a suede bag bring dimension to an outfit, natural textures like wood, rattan, and wicker add depth to your interiors. A woven basket by the fireplace or a wooden bowl on the table brings in that earthy, harvest-season feel.

Make Room for Gathering

Fall is all about gathering—baking pies, lingering around the dinner table, or movie nights with family. A pretty ceramic baking dish, a set of candle holders, or seasonal table décor can make those moments feel even more special.

Add Finishing Touches

Accessories really do complete the look. Just as a scarf or a pair of earrings polish off an outfit, a vase with branches, a lantern by the door, or a tray with a fall candle makes a space feel thoughtfully styled.

It really doesn’t take a full home makeover to bring in the warmth of fall—just a few thoughtful updates here and there. These accents are such an easy, affordable way to add seasonal charm, and I love how they instantly make a space feel cozier and more inviting. Do you add any seasonal touches to your home for fall?

  1. Walmart has really upped their game when it comes to home accents. Ive bought a few things from them and so far have been impressed with the style and quality.

  2. I tried seasonal decorating for a couple years. Just couldn’t get into it. So I went back to my usual: home looks the same all year round. Though I will concede that everyone’s house always looks so awesome when they do it. LOL!!!

    1. I’m the same way! I’ve adopted a minimalist attitude as I get older. It’s too much to have to think about each season. Decorating was never something I have been good at. Though a few of these items would be nice to use to update my decor and keep out year round. Thanks Jo-Lynne.

  3. I’ve always decorated for Fall, Christmas and Easter. For Fall I’ve gone more neutral than all the orange colors. I love different textured pumpkins and I’ve found many over the years at Target that look just like Pottery Barn but way less money. The older I get it is harder to think of putting out a lot and taking it down as Fall goes into Christmas so fast but it’s worth it. I don’t do candles and haven’t for years and years as they are so toxic if they have fragrance. They have great looking flameless ones out there now. My husband is thrilled with them as he is a retired firefighter/Fire Chief. lol Happy decorating Jo-Lynne.
