Welcome back to my weekly post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fashion bloggers around the web! I’m just a typical suburban mom trying to stay fabulous after 40 and sharing what I learn along the way. I hope you find some style inspiration here.
Now that the heat has finally arrived in Philly, it’s more challenging to come up with new outfit ideas. Layering is pretty much out of the question when it’s 90 degrees, so accessories become even more important. This week most of my outfits are pretty casual, but I tried to jazz them up with fun accessories.
It was still chilly last Thursday, so I wore this black top and my dark jeans. Black and denim can be a copout, or it can be really cute. I’ve always been a fan of this combination, so I used metallic shoes and jewelry to add interest. It also helps that this top has some interesting details with the cuffed sleeves and Mandarin collar. In the past, I tucked it in, but this time I wore it out. I think it works either way.

On Sunday, I wore this outfit to church. I’ve been wanting to wear this maxi skirt for ages, but I wasn’t sure what to pair with it. Finally I bought a navy tank top. I wore strappy flat sandals in a metallic taupe and carried a dove grey cross body bag. It’s a bit of a different look for me, but I think it works.

Next, it’s back to my favorite combo, black and denim. Actually, I guess this t-shirt is charcoal grey. I wore this on one of those warm days last week when I was home all day, and I just wanted to be cool and comfortable. Graphic t-shirts are a huge trend right now, and one I really enjoy. It’s an easy way to stay current and to express your personality or interests.

On Monday for our casual Memorial Day cookout, I wore my denim Bermuda shorts and this old medallion print t-shirt. This is one of those tops I never seem to tire of. I’ve had 0it for years. I layered the two gold necklaces and added the red bracelet to create a patriotic color scheme. I grabbed this blue bag for the picture, although I didn’t go anywhere on Monday. It was just too perfect not to put it in there. My toenails are painted neon pink, so I covered them up with my gold espadrilles.

Finally, I wore this white top with my blue jeans on Saturday. I like how the white and gold sandals balance out the white on top. I added the green handbag for color, and because it’s been far too long since I’ve used it. I love this bag, but lately it doesn’t seem to go with as much as it used to. Then I added told accessories to complement the gold accents in the shoes and handbag.

That’s it for this week! I didn’t photograph my outfit yesterday because it’s one I’ve worn a gazillion times before, and some days I just need a break. Hint: it’s more grey and denim. I know. SHOCKER! I’m thrilled that the weather has warmed up, but it does have a way of making me lazy.

Love the maxi dress. Unfortunately, with me being under 5 foot tall, I can’t wear them because they are all too long. Would love to have some of those right now!
It is helpful to see the backs of outfits from time to time. Thanks for that this week.
As usual, I love all of your outfits! You are totally rocking that maxi skirt! Soo pretty!! XO
