Holiday-ish

Greetings, friends! Somehow it’s Monday again.

I shared this leopard print sweater in my Saturday Try-On Haul, but I wanted to style it with white jeans for a dedicated blog post… and of course it’s selling out. Bahumbug.

I think it’s such a fun play on the animal print trend. It has a hint of sparkle in the darkest brown shades, making it holiday-ish… but you can totally wear it all winter long!

This sweater has a traditional fit with a split hem, and the material is nice and soft and stretchy. It runs true to size; I’m wearing the small.

And if you’re in luck to find it in your size, it’s only $19.99!

While this sweater goes well with blue jeans, and I can also see it with brown pants, my favorite pairing is with white jeans.

They coordinate perfectly with the light neutral color palette, for a look that is crisp and fresh and wintry.

This grey and white fairisle sweater is another option for this look, and it is fully stocked and only $20!

Ironically, I had both in my closet, and I chose the leopard one to photograph, and of course it is the other one that is still in stock.

Either way, I love the unexpected pairing with white jeans for winter!

My Sam Edelman boots were from the #NSale, but he has a similar style at Zappo’s.

These boots are luxe and gorgeous, and I’m enjoying the return to the knee-high styels this winter. OTK boots are still on trend, but knee-high styles are just as popular.

I topped off the look with this faux fur coat, also from the #NSale. Unfortunately, it’s long gone, but this one is similar, and this is another option.

I’m really loving these faux fur coats for events this winter.

I shared a leopard print option in my try-on haul on Saturday, and I also styled a longer leopard print style for a post coming up later this week.

The sparkle in the sweater and the faux fur jacket lend a festive vibe to an otherwise classic outfit.

I’d totally wear this to a Christmas party, out to dinner with friends, or to a child’s holiday concert… anything where dressed-up casual looks are appropriate.

  1. I have to try white jeans in the winter. I have said that before, but I need to try it. I always feel that they just don’t work. I always go to black jeans, jeans and leggings. This outfit looks great on you!

  2. I want to order this entire outfit!!!! Thankfully, I’ve got the white jeans and the taupe boots. 😉 I love this though! Out of stock in my size, which is probably just as well. I have so many sweaters.

  3. I love the look.  What do you recommend for a warm outfit for Christmas Eve Mass for both myself and my teen girls?

  4. Love this outfit. Never even thought about wearing white jeans in the winter but this looks great. Will definetly try. Hope you get your photo shoot in before the snow. Have a great week. 🎄🎅

  5. What a fun winter outfit. On impulse, I bought the same faux fur jacket during the July Nordstrom sale. I rarely wear light colors and almost never white and I love it! It’s particularly nice to throw on over a dress outfit when you don’t want to deal with a heavy coat but don’t dare go coatless. On the shopping front, I’m done until I go over my stocking stuffers but I have wrapped NOTHING. I have a crazy busy week. I have no idea when that’s going to get done!

  6. I love the outfit with the white jeans and tan boots. Are the same white jeans you’d wear in the summer? And should it always be a lightish color top and boots or shoes to work with white jeans?

      1. Looks like there’s only large left. I wear medium mostly. Does this sweater run smaller or have a looser fit? I’m 5’6″ 145 lbs. Thanks, love your blog!

        1. Hey Donna. I think you could size up b/c it fits pretty snug. It’s meant to, but it seems like it would have a lot of shape retention, and also if it shrinks at all, a size up might be nice. I’d say it’s worth a try!

      2. Thanks!  It’s too dressy for jeans as the men wear suits and ties, but maybe black dress slacks would work for me.  Not sure about my girls.

  7. If I needed to add a sweater to my closet, this one would definitely be a contender.  Is Becca still in school?  The kids here get out on Friday (staggered early release), until Jan. 7th.  Fortunately, our shopping is all done and I actually felt like doing some wrapping yesterday.  The upper respiratory infection bug going around put me completely out of commission for 3 days, and I mean COMPLETELY!  I hope none of y’all get it!  Larry is still fighting the pneumonia, so we may have to cancel out on some Christmas Day plans since his immune system is really struggling now.  Any way, I hope that you and Allison do get to have the photo shoot this morning.  Good luck!  You’re anticipating snow and we’re anticipating severe weather overnight and into tomorrow morning.

  8. This might just be my favorite outfit of the entire year! Love the tonal vibe and unexpected colors (for winter). I’m supposed to be buying gifts for others, buuuuuuuuut…..

  9. Well it’s a cold -11 degrees Celsius with the wind this morning and it is windy!!! After a very mild and rainy weekend it’s crazy. I really like that sweater and wish I had bought it when I tried it on plus it had also come in a plum color. Oh well!

  10. Love the look on you. The
jacket definitely pulls the look all together. I don’t own white pants as I live rural and we have gravel roads and dirty vehicles…..they wouldn’t be white by the time I’d get to my destination. Lol

  11. Totally random question…but what is the nail color you are wearing? Looks like the perfect mix of wine and gold. Such a pretty color!!

  12. Beautiful outfit…..I love white jeans year round and especially with brown or taupe boots! Is the cute coat still available or was it a one time NSale purchase?

  13. Love this look and love it on you! This sweater is a toned down version of a leopard print…. 😍
Wish I could pull off the white pants in winter. We are going through a strange cycle of snow –>warm–>slush–>repeat! I can’t keep my car clean…. My white jeans wouldn’t stay white for long.
Hope Becca and Paul are ok after their fender bender.

  14. This is gorgeous! Love the coat and the boots. Just shows that neutrals aren’t boring but so classy! Rethinking the Blondo suede boots I just got. They aren’t this pointy. I think these boots look dressier and nicer. Sorry to hear about the fender bender. Such a pain. It’s going around. I got rear-ended last week on the freeway. My car is most likely totaled. 🙁

  15. This is such a pretty look, but every time I look at that top, I see popcorn! Guess it’s time to go to the eye doctor…

  16. I saw this sweater in your try ons from last week and snagged it – I am learning if you post something I really want I need to grab it right away and I am never disappointed when I do!  I was so excited when it arrived yesterday and was looking forward to seeing how you styled it.  I have just about everything to recreate the whole look just with different colored boots which I think will work.  Thank you for the inspiration!
