Happy Wednesday! Welcome back to 25 Days of Winter Fashion! Cyndi and I are taking a break from outfit posts for a few days, and after the turkey is put away, holiday parties will be in full swing! Today I’m sharing a holiday party look that is appropriate for an at-home party or casual at-the-office holiday party.
This cold shoulder top is cute and flattering, and it’s on sale for $41! It also comes in black, but you know I’m a sucker for this burgundy color. It’s flattering on most complexions, and it’s festive for the holidays.
You know me, my instinct is to wear jeans, but I wanted a dressier look so I styled it with my LOFT scuba skinny pants. I love the slim silhouette, and they have enough stretch to be comfortable. These pants fasten on the side so they don’t add any visual weight to the tummy area, and they also come in Petite and Tall sizes. Plus they are currently 40% off with code THANKS!
Because this top is obviously not designed to keep you warm in winter weather, I will probably wear a heavier coat — this black wool reefer coat would be perfect, but if you live in a warmer climate, you can get away with throwing a leather jacket over your shoulders. It was warm the day we took these pictures so I opted for the leather jacket.
When I went to the rewardStyle white party in Dallas last spring, almost everyone had a leather jacket thrown around their shoulders, overtop their cocktail attire. It’s a chic way to wear it, but it definitely doesn’t to much to keep you warm.
This one’s just for fun. This is my obligatory fashion blogger sitting on the curb picture. Haha!!
I carried my leopard clutch (on sale for 15% off at Shopbop – you can save up to 25% depending on how much you order) and I wore this chunky stone and pearl bracelet set. I LOVE this set. It’s too dressy for everyday, but it’s perfect for dressing up a going-out look, and it can be worn all year round.
Black pointy toe pumps seemed like the obvious shoe choice, although a metallic sandal or lace-up pump would be fun with this.
I’ve had this lariat collar necklace for a while, and I finally got a chance to wear it. I also think a black choker would be stunning with this outfit. If I had one, I probably would have worn it instead. I finished the look with my faux pearl earrings.
This is the type of outfit I wear to at-home holiday parties, or if you have an office party that doesn’t call for cocktail attire, this would be perfect for that too.
For a date night or GNO, I will wear this top with black jeans or even distressed blue jeans and probably my rounded-toe black suede pumps for a slightly more casual vibe. For size reference, the top is a small, and it is plenty big. Definitely size down if you’re thinking of ordering it.
cold shoulder top // scuba skinny pants // similar leather jacket and here (faux leather option) // black pumps (less expensive) // faux pearl lariat collar necklace // faux pearl earrings // stone and pearl bracelet set // leopard clutch (less expensive)

Absolutely beautiful holiday or special occasion look! Your pictures are beautiful. Good job photographer! Of course, look what he is working with. You are gorgeous. Are you sure you’re not 6′ tall? LOL!
Can you tell me what size you are wearing in the top? I’d like to get it in black but not sure what size to get. I am usually a small or medium.
I know I emailed you already but for those following along… 🙂 It’s a small and it is plenty big. I’d definitely size down.
great look — thanks for the shout out to the pants fastening on the side — AMEN !! I hate it when pants fasten in the front — it is bulky and just makes it difficult to wear certain tops — actually I detest that little metal fastener anyway and would prefer a flatter button option…..ANYWAY, have a great Thanksgiving 🙂
That burgundy looks so rich—especially for the holidays. It really must be a holiday color—we wore it on the blog yesterday too!
i like how you refer to the fact that it’s not super warm. But then again, either are the sleeveless dresses that they have for sale at the stores! But if you’re dancing the night away (or something like that)—at least you won’t be sweating a buttload!!
Yes, sometimes you want a cooler top at the holidays. I know ladies who entertain often get overheated and want a lighter top – so it would be good for that too, say if you’re hosting a holiday brunch or party. And of course Southern ladies want to look festive but their weather isn’t conducive to heavy sweaters. But if you’re in the north, and going out, you will want a coat over this! 🙂
This is gorgeous! I love the addition of the leather jacket too, so chic. I was actually scouring the web yesterday trying to find out what is appropriate for those in between holiday parties, so this was super helpful.
Just ordered the sleek pants! Cannot wait! Thank You for all the inspiring outfits.
Very pretty! And thanks for mentioning that the pants come in tall sizes. I just ordered a pair! I’ve been needing to update my black dress pants. Amazing how big and baggy my old ones seem after getting used to wearing skinny jeans!
I think you’ll love them!
Very pretty! The cold shoulders lend a sexy look to you outfit. That outfit would look nice with your camel coat. I have been looking for a slim legged pant and these are perfect. Do they fit true to size?
Yes, I think they’re TTS. I have the 6 but they’re a little snug. I hate to keep mentioning losing weight, but it really does affect my sizing recommendations. 🙂 I would have needed an 8 before I lost the 5-6 lbs a few months ago. I hope that helps.
I am so happy you introduced us to the Loft scuba pant awhile back. I took advantage of the sale at that time, and they are my FAVORITE work pants! So comfortable and easy care. I wear them often and love them. Thanks for all your style tips.
I’m so glad you like them!
Jo-Lynne, once again, you have shared a great look with us. Your husband is one heck of a photographer!
I’m wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Love this color on you!
Love your outfit!! Question… What do you think about wearing booties with the scuba pants?
It could totally work – but it has to be perfect, so the pants don’t “buckle” too much on top of the booties… does that make sense?
Yes thank you!! ????
