Luxe Holiday Gifts for the Fashionista

Thanks to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

Happy Monday, friends! Can you believe it, Christmas is less than 6 weeks away!?! I need to get busy shopping. I have a bad habit of rounding up all these great ideas for my gift guides and forgetting to do my own holiday shopping. #occupationalhazards

That’s when Nordstrom comes to the rescue. I can always rely on them to be the one-stop shop for all my holiday needs, whether I’m shopping for myself or my family. And if I need my order right away? I love their BOPUS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) and contactless curbside pickup options.

A lot of you like to know what’s on my holiday wish list, as it gives you ideas for gifts to give your daughters, or maybe what to put on your own wish list. Well, here are some ideas for you, all available at Nordstrom!

Every fashionista knows having essential layering pieces is key to creating effortless looks, and it doesn’t get more essential than a cashmere sweater.

If you aren’t allergic to wool, a few classic cashmere sweaters in versatile neutrals will serve you well.

I talk about Halogen cashmere a lot. It is truly one of the best values in cashmere.

This cashmere v-neck is super soft, has nice details, and it’s priced right under $100. It also comes in a crewneck and a turtleneck, and they all run true to size. I wear a small.

You might notice I’m wearing a new style of denim.

Straight ankle jeans are very on trend right now, so if you’re looking to update your jeans, or you just want to add some variety to your wardrobe, the Paige Cindy is a good place to start.

This pair has a nice medium wash denim with some subtle whiskering and fading, and the inseam is 27″.  For size reference, I’m wearing my usual size 28.

They slide perfectly over these Steve Madden pointed toe booties, and I love this light beige color for a change.

Speaking of light neutrals, this muted plaid double-breasted coat is a modern take on the traditional wool overcoat.

With more and more of our social events moving outdoors, having a variety of coats to suit different occasions is key, and adding a print to your wardrobe is a great way to mix it up.

I love the classic styling on this coat with its clean lines, notched lapels, front flap pockets, and three-quarter length.

It’s perfect for your dressier looks or to level up your more casual outfits as well, and it’s long enough to accommodate most cardigans.

This coat is fully lined and fits true to size, or you may want to size down if in between. I have it in the 6.

For your more casual looks, The North Face Westborough insulated quilted jacket makes the perfect everyday jacket.

I really like the curved hemline design, and it has side zip pockets and a front zip closure with snap storm flap.

It’s incredibly lightweight, with a durable water-repellent finish to keep you dry on rainy days.

This jacket also comes in black and navy, but I particularly love the white with the yellow and black accents. It runs true to size; I have the small.

For this post, I styled it over this grey cashmere blend sweater by the sustainable brand, Reformation, with my Kut from the Kloth Donna skinny jeans in the jet black wash.

This sweater is made with recycled cashmere, and it’s perfect for layering, but it also stands on its own when you want a simple look.

I sized up for length and a more relaxed fit, but you could stick with your usual size.

Finally, speaking of gifts for the fashionista, leather hiking boots are a huge trend this year, and these Marc Fisher Izzie shearling lace-up boots are such good quality.

The lug sole provides great traction, and they have a padded insole for extra comfort. I got them last year, so I’ve worn them quite a bit, and I’m always amazed by how comfortable they are for a chunky boot.

I do recommend sizing down half, though. I wish I had.

Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone on your holiday gift list, you’re sure to find the perfect holiday gift at Nordstrom.

  1. I never thought I’d say I miss wearing coats! There are so many pretty ones, and I want them all, but I wear a coat about once a year here in CA. I’ve purchased several in the past couple years just for holiday travel. HA! Cute looks and I love those boots too. I’m trying to work up my nerve to get a pair. XO

  2. Would love a boot like that without a suede covered heel. I put a hole in the heel of my burgundy suede boots from driving.

  3. Good morning! Love these gift ideas, especially the long coat in the plaid. I think these “dress” coats look awesome with jeans and boots and I love how they cover your longer cardigans. I know it’s a “blogger-thing” to never button up/zip up your coats, but it would be helpful to see at least one photo of that double breasted coat buttoned. I’m sure it would look adorable (and warm!!). Keep up the good work, Jo-Lynne!

    1. I actually have one, I just didn’t like the angle of the picture, lol. It’s not full length, but maybe it will help. I just added it. I wish there was a way to add photos to the comments! LOL

  4. Great post. You look so cute in all the items. I think you hit the nail on the head with the Cindy Paige straight jean.  This one fits you right and really looks good.  My question is how do you keep your jeans from dying your boots, especially when they are light colored? I have always had trouble with this and now with the jeans not wore above the hem line this really is a problem.  I think so many people are decorating early for Christmas.  I too decided yesterday to take down my Fall decor and start getting out my Christmas to start this week.  I do have to wait on the tree, as we still do a live one, so I’ll get it first of Dec.  I usually always wait until after Thanksgiving to do Christmas but since I’m not hosting this year, its a good year to get going on it and I need a little Christmas cheer this year for sure.

  5. Jo-Lynn, the reply button doesn’t work anymore if you want to reply to you or someone else. ????  I was going to reply to April who ask you for jean ideas for her college age daughter. You had told her Good American. I just got an email from Nordstrom Rack about a Good American event.  % off. Thought she might want to know, but can’t reply to her request.

  6. I live in Minnesota–winters get really cold. I am looking for a warm boot with good arch support for my daily 5 mile walks. How warm are the Marc Fisher boots?

  7. Thanks for adding the “buttoned-up” photo of the plaid coat. I love how the plaids match up well in the front. (And you look a little warmer!!)

  8. I really enjoyed this post! I would appreciate if you could give some less expensive alternatives. Most of this is a bit out of my budget for gifts

  9. A neat gifting option for someone who wears hats.  LindsayAlbanese.com has these cool magnetic hat holders that clip to a bag so that you can be hands-free while traveling with a hat. (Not associated with toptote in any way!!)

  10. Hi! GREAT POST! Can you wear the straight ankle jeans with flats/loafers/driving mocs? I’m a little unclear. Having been at home for so many months I’ve literally forgotten how to walk in 3″ heels so I’m looking for a lower heel bootie. Still looking for ‘the’ perfect booties in my size (10C or W).

  11. Such a cute straight leg jeans w/ boots outfit. I’m thinking of buying a halogen cashmere sweater this year. I only have a couple cashmere sweaters because in So CA it’s rarely cold enough for them. But I like to have a few just in case for those winter days when it dips into the low 60s. I tried on the Paige Cindy denim recently and they were a little too short on me (I’m 5’9”) So for your tall girl readers, I found a pair at Madewell that are similar called the “stovepipe” 🖤

  12. Great suggestions!  I’m so glad the girls got you to decorating some for Christmas.  With all of the tough times all of us have been dealing with, basically all year, I think getting in the Christmas spirit is just what the doctor ordered.  Sure, I have some sad memories from past Christmases, but playing Christmas music and enjoying our lights make me smile more than being sad. Not was 36 here this morning & is in the 70’s now, but there’s still a chill in the air.  I hope you have had a good day!

  13. Enjoy reading your blogs.  I would like to know if you plan on doing a gift guide for teenagers.  I am particularly Interested in some ideas for 14 year old girls.
