Orange Blossom Shell Outfit

This is it, day 25 of 25 Days of Summer Fashion! And another seasonal style collab with Cyndi is in the books. This actually marks two full years that we’ve been doing these together.

Our first of these collabs was for Fall 2015. That’s when I decided to dip my toe in the fashion blogging waters and see if I wanted to do this full-time. For those who have joined us more recently, I was blogging full-time before (I’ve been at this in some shape or form for over 10 years) but I was more of a lifestyle blogger with a wide variety of topics. It’s been nice to have a focus these past couple of years, and I’m so glad I made the leap.

It still feels weird to put myself out there like some sort of fashion expert because I’m really just learning as I go, but I’ve definitely learned a lot over the past few years and I love sharing it with you and getting your feedback.

So to wrap up our summer fashion series, I have something of a work wear look, I guess. Or in my case, an outfit I’d wear to church or out to dinner. I actually wore a version of this to church last Sunday.

The piece that inspired this look is this orange blossom v-neck shell from Ann Taylor. This top is very flattering if you have a hourglass or a straight figure. I’m thinking may not be so good for pear shapes because of the curved hemline, but you know your body best.

The fruit print is trendy right now, and I like how this one is on the subtle end of the spectrum. The colors are really pretty too. I also appreciate that the armholes aren’t too deep, and it covers most of your back so it’s modest enough for the office or church or other places where you don’t want to show too much skin.

It’s also not see-through at all. The material is actually rather thick. Best of all, this top is on a mega sale. With the additional 50% off, it comes down to $22.49!

You could certainly wear this top with white pants (or shorts, for that matter) and I’m sure I will, but for this look I paired it with black jeans. Navy or black dress pants would work as well. The print actually has a navy background, but it’s so dark you really can’t tell if it’s navy or black so I say either works.

I carried a black shoulder bag with gold accents and wore chunky black sandals. These sandals are on sale plus an additional 40% off with code SUNNY! They’re kate spade so still pricey, but much more palatable at the sale price.

For the office or colder indoor places, adding a white denim jacket or blazer puts a nice finishing touch on the outfit. My blazer is sold out, but a few similar suggestions are this knit blazer or this open front jacket. Loft also has a white linen blazer that looks nice and is on sale, but sizes are limited.

I really like the 3/4 sleeves on this blazer for summer, but if you have a long-sleeved blazer, you can always push them up or roll them.

I still think I like the look best without the blazer. This top is too cute to cover up! That said, I didn’t bring my blazer to church and I was cold, so next time I will probably at least bring it along with me.

  1. Super look–love those shoes with the black jeans and purse. Wish I could wear slingbacks, but they won’t stay on me!

  2. I think I must have found you about the time you made the switch to full time fashion blogger and possibly your and Cyndi’s first collab. I like this look. I actually have a Vince Camuto top from Nordstrom that’s cut very similar and is one of my favorites. Congrats on 2 years as a dedicated fashion blogger.

  3. This outfit’s a winner! I’m a petite pear and curved hems can look great if they are petite proportions and hit at the high hip (a narrower place on me) rather then low hip. Curved and sharkbite hems in the right proportion are very flattering on wide hips/thighs because a diagonal line is just slimming. The challenge is catching the petite sizes as you know they often sell out early.

  4. I love this… Great for work and church. Sometimes we need something a little more dressy. I also get cold in the a/c in restaurants so taking this along is a great idea. Before we know it we will be needing a jacket in the early morning. However I don’t like thinking about that . I like a variety of looks

  5. Love that top, Jo-Lynne! It has such a pretty pattern and the cut is very flattering. I like how you paired it with the black jeans instead of white, and with the white jacket. But you obviously could do just the opposite and do white jeans and a black jacket. Great versatility. – Amy

  6. So cute and classy on you. I’m glad I found you. I found Cyndi March of 2015 and I believe she mentioned you, is how I found you. I only follow you 2 so its been fun. 🙂 Keep doing the Fall Winter and Summer series together. I look forward to the AM emails from you both. You keep it so real and I love how you share about your family life too. 🙂 Enjoy your weekend and the 4th.

  7. I started following your blog six months after you made the switch to fashion and boy am I glad you made the switch! Reading your blog is considered a necessary part of my daily routine. Thanks!

  8. Very well put together and I would have worn this as a causal business outfit if I was still in Sales.
I honestly have to say that I too started following you though Cyndi and only follow the two of you. And boy I really have come to enjoy your blog and have been so impressed with the passion, time and effort you put into it. So thank you for all you do and for sharing this passion with us!

  9. Such a pretty top! That would be perfect for me for work, since I tend to be sleeveless for the first part of my shift until the air conditioning kicks in. I have a lightweight sweater jacket that would match it perfectly!
