Happy Friday! I’ve got a new round of early spring try-ons for you today, along with some more resort wear and vacation finds.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes these days, so fit notes matter.
Some pieces in this post were gifted. As always, I’m sharing my honest thoughts and will only recommend what I truly love or think is worth your consideration. Gifted items are marked c/o; everything else was purchased by me.
Spring Try-Ons for Women Over 50
As usual, I’ll share measurements and fabric content when available, along with whether I plan to keep each item. Even when I decide not to keep something, that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. It just may not work for my body type, lifestyle, or current wardrobe needs.
More Resort Wear & Vacation Finds
I’ve got a few more vacation-ready pieces to share, and I’m thinking carefully about how they pack, how versatile they are, and whether they deserve a spot in my suitcase for St. Lucia or later this spring in Florida.
Z Supply Charisma Tova Palm Midi Dress
at EVEREVE (M) // Sam Edelman Camille (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Perfect for your next vacation, the Charisma Tova Palm Dress by Z Supply features a printed mesh overlay with a lined bodice, adjustable straps, and a midi-length silhouette.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 52″.
- 94% Polyester, 6% Spandex; Lining: 95% Rayon, 5% Spandex
- Care: Hand Wash, Dry Flat, Do Not Iron
MY THOUGHTS: I’m still on the hunt for a couple of fun, slightly dressier options for dinners in St. Lucia, and this one feels promising. I love the clean lines, and the palm print is subtle but still tropical. The black-and-beige color palette keeps it feeling like me, since I naturally gravitate toward neutrals.
The spaghetti straps are a bit outside my usual comfort zone, but the simplicity of the design keeps it from feeling too much. It feels polished without trying too hard, which is exactly what I want for vacation evenings.
VERDICT: I think I’m keeping this one. It should pack well, too.

100% European Linen Scoop Neck Midi Dress
at Quince (L) // FRANKIE4 Harris (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Crafted from the finest quality linen sourced from Europe, our 100% European Linen Scoop Neck Midi Dress is soft, breathable, and lightweight, making it the perfect choice for warm weather. The elegant scoop neck and midi length of the dress make it a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
- 100% linen
- 100% cotton lining
- Adjustable straps
- Fitted bust with a relaxed skirt
- Smocked back detail for a comfortable fit
- Invisible side zipper
- Functional front pockets
- Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
MY THOUGHTS: This one definitely needs a good steam, but I’m really happy to find a longer linen dress in a straighter silhouette. I personally find this shape much more flattering than the gathered waists, tiers, and ruffles we’ve been seeing everywhere.
There are subtle pleats for ease of movement, a small smocked panel in the back for a better fit, and the adjustable straps are a nice touch. It feels simple and polished — which is exactly what I want in a warm-weather linen dress.
Fit note: It runs small. I needed to size up to a large in this one.
VERDICT: Keeping! This feels more like a dinner dress, but it could also work for a slightly more elevated sightseeing day if I need something like that. I can easily throw a denim jacket over it and wear it to church at home this summer, too.

Sunset Harbor Lace-Up Short-Sleeve Dress
at Tommy Bahama (M) // FRANKIE4 Harris (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Crafted from durable and exceptionally soft cotton, this chic lace-up dress brings an extra dose of flair to your easy everyday style—plus, it has pockets.
- 100% cotton.
- Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
- Pockets. Bamboo-inspired beads.
- Length: 35″ from shoulder to hem (size S).
MY THOUGHTS: I love a good cotton t-shirt dress, and this one checks a lot of boxes. The knit is substantial without feeling heavy, and the lace-up detail adds just enough interest. In a perfect world, I’d prefer slightly shorter sleeves, but that’s a minor tweak. I briefly considered having them tailored before my trip, but realistically, that will have to wait until I get back.
VERDICT: Keeping. I can see this working just as well at home this spring and summer as it will on vacation.

FRANKIE4 Harris Espadrille
at Nordstrom (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: A jute-wrapped midsole lends tropical texture to this sun-ready sandal supported by triple-layered cushioning on the footbed.
- 2 1/4″ heel
- Adjustable ankle strap with buckle closure
- Cushioned footbed with arch support
- Leather upper and lining/rubber sole
MY THOUGHTS: These may not be on the cutting edge of fashion, but they’re a classic style that works beautifully thanks to the muted color palette. They pair effortlessly with a wide variety of pants and dresses, especially in spring and summer.
The comfort is really where they shine. The footbed has substantial cushioning and excellent arch support, and I love the mix of neutral tones. The metallic strap across the toe adds subtle polish, the beige ankle strap blends nicely against lighter skin tones, and the jute-wrapped sole gives them that easy, summery texture.
VERDICT: Keeping. These will be great for days when I want a little height but still need real comfort and support. I’m just not sure if they’re coming to St. Lucia, since they’ll take up a fair amount of suitcase space.

Vineyard Vines Herringbone Shorts
at Vineyard Vines (10) // Michael Stars tank (M) // Dolce Vita sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The best just got better. Our new Every Day Shorts not only feature upgraded fabric with an oh-so chic herringbone texture—we also tweaked the fit to make them more flattering and modern than ever before.
- 98% cotton, 2% spandex
- Inseam: 3 1/2″ (based off size 6)
- Double hooks and bar front closure at front zipper
- Slash side pocket and back pockets with buttons
- Machine wash
MY THOUGHTS: I had and loved these white shorts last year in a size 8. This year I needed a 10, so I ordered them again in white, along with a few other colors. I still love the fit and the clean lines, and the 3½-inch inseam (which is closer to 4 inches in the size 10) is perfect for me.
After trying some longer shorts last week, I was reminded that I look better in a slightly shorter style. They also have a nice leg opening that isn’t too wide, which I think is part of why they’re so flattering on me. The fabric is thick and structured without feeling stiff, and the subtle herringbone pattern is a nice touch.
Also worth noting: These sandals are back this year, and I’m so glad. They have that on-trend strappy look, but the molded footbed gives them the support and comfort I need.
VERDICT: Definitely keeping the white. I’m also keeping the navy and pink.

Faherty Sunwashed Slub Muscle Tank
at EVEREVE (S) // Ruti The On The Loose Work Pants (8) c/o // Steve Madden Aziel (9)

PRODUCT DETAILS: This Faherty tank will be your go-to summer staple. Crafted in organic cotton slub fabric, this versatile muscle tank features a crew neckline, straight fit, and seamed shoulder detail. Wear it on repeat with cutoffs, jeans, and linen pants.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- 100% Organic Cotton Slub Knit
- Machine Wash, Tumble Dry
MY THOUGHTS: This is such a great basic, kind of a crossover between a tee and a tank. The cotton slub knit is substantial yet soft, and not at all see-through. The length is versatile enough to wear tucked or untucked, which I always appreciate. And it’s on a really good sale right now.
VERDICT: Keeping. This is absolutely coming with me to St. Lucia.

ANRABESS Swimsuit Cover Up
at Amazon (M) // beek Sunbeam Flip Flops (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS:
- 100% Acrylic.
- Machine Wash
MY THOUGHTS: This is a great little affordable swim cover-up from Amazon. I love the crochet-like knit, and it has an easy, relaxed fit. It’s perfect for throwing on over your swimsuit to grab lunch or walk to and from the beach.
VERDICT: Keeping! It’s definitely getting packed for my trip.

Spring Staples: Pants, Denim & Layers
Okay, moving on to more transitional spring styles and closet basics. I’ve ordered quite a few non-denim pants lately, including some of the black, flowy styles that are trending, as well as a few more linen options. I also picked up some colored denim, plus a mix of tops and jackets to freshen things up for spring.
PAIGE Anessa W/ Front Yoke Wide Leg 31″ Jean
at EVEREVE (30) // Michael Stars Jinny Muscle Top (M) // stone necklace

PRODUCT DETAILS: Crafted in a soft stretch cotton denim, the Anessa Wide Leg Jean by Paige features a high-rise waist, front yoke detailing, patch pockets, and a vintage berry wash.
- Front Rise: 11 5/8″
- Inseam Length: 31″
- Leg Opening: 22″
- 98% Cotton, 2% Elastane Denim Twill
- Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
MY THOUGHTS: I love the PAIGE Anessa slim wide leg silhouette, so I was excited to try this pretty rose color. The shade is beautiful, and the length is great on me. However, the front pocket placement and the yoke detailing feel slightly off. On my body, they draw attention to an area I’d prefer not to highlight.
VERDICT: I decided to return these. I feel like I can do better, and for that price, I need to love them.

EVEREVE Marni Barrell
at EVEREVE (30) // Nation Los Angeles Hailey Tank c/o (M) – 15% off with JOLYNNE15 // beek Sunbeam Flip Flops (8) // stone necklace

PRODUCT DETAILS: Update your everyday collection with the Marni pant by EVEREVE, featuring a barrel silhouette, high-rise waist, and comfortable cotton stretch fabric.
- Front Rise: 11 7/8″
- Inseam Length: 27 1/2″
- Leg Opening: 19″
- 82% Cotton, 17% Polyester, 1% Spandex
- Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
MY THOUGHTS: This is another really pretty color, and I prefer this subtle barrel leg with the more traditional flat front. The length hits at a nice ankle length for spring and summer, and they’re super soft and comfortable.
VERDICT: Keeping! Love these, and they’re a great price too!

FRAME Modern Pocket Wide Leg Jeans 30
at Nordstrom (30) // Splendid Christa (M) c/o // Dolce Vita Alenna Perf Slingbacks (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: These ’70s-inspired wide-leg jeans are remade for today from premium stretch denim in a casual-chic light wash.
- 31″ inseam; 24″ leg opening; 11″ front rise
- Zip fly with button closure
- Front patch pockets; back patch pockets
- 77% cotton, 19% modal, 3% elasterell-p, 1% elastane
- Machine wash, dry flat
MY THOUGHTS: I love these jeans. They have what I’d call a modern, elevated boho vibe, a term I may have just invented. The relaxed flare, light wash with subtle texture, and updated utility pockets all work together in a really fresh way.

They’re super soft, lightweight, and comfortable, and the 31-inch inseam is perfect with a low heel, and they even work with sneakers.

VERDICT: Keeping, love these!

Splendid Emerson Short Sleeve Sweater in Lavender
c/o Splendid (M) // ruti The On The Loose Work Pants (8) c/o // Margaux Ballet Flats (39)

- Ribbed detail on neckline and sleeves

MY THOUGHTS: Splendid kindly sent over a few pieces from their spring collection for me to try. I’m a longtime fan of the brand, which is known for its super soft, high-quality basics, so I was happy to accept!
This is a beautiful, classic sweater tee, and it comes in several really pretty, calming shades. I’m especially drawn to this Lavender, but it also comes in Honeysuckle, a soft pale yellow, and Perfect Blue.
VERDICT: Keeping! I can already picture this with white denim this spring.

Splendid Christa Short Sleeve Sweater in Mood Indigo
c/o Splendid (M) // FRAME Modern Pocket Wide Leg (30) // Dolce Vita Alenna Perf Slingbacks (8.5)

- Relaxed fit with dropped shoulders
- Short sleeves
- 46% Viscose 32% Nylon 20% Polyester 2% Elastane

MY THOUGHTS: This is such a nice elevated basic. I love the slightly cropped, boxy silhouette, and the knit is so soft and comfortable. It feels easy but still polished.

VERDICT: Keeping. Love it!

Splendid Lounge Denim Jacket in Moonstone
c/o Splendid (M) // Marni Barrel (30) // Michael Stars Jinny (M) // beek Sunbeam (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Our Lounge Denim fabric feels like your favorite sweats with the classic look of denim. The drawstring waist adds some shape, with the extra pockets to hold lip gloss, keys, and your phone. You’ll wear this layer everyday.
- 100% Tencel™ Lyocell
- Machine wash cold
MY THOUGHTS: FOUND: The go-to jacket to top off all my spring outfits. The fabric is amazing, so soft and supple. I absolutely love it. The ivory is beautiful, but it also comes in a light blue and a denim wash, and I’m very tempted by the denim version as well.

The fit is fantastic. It’s a great length, and I especially love the raglan-style shoulders and sleeve design. They give it a softer, more relaxed feel and make it easy to layer. The drawstring waist with elastic in the back hangs just right. It is on the pricier side, but I can already tell it’s going to be a workhorse in my spring wardrobe.
VERDICT: Keeping. This one is going to get a lot of wear.

RISEN Pocket Detailed Jacket
c/o Social Threads (M) // Joelle Linen Trouser c/o (M)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The comfort of a sweatshirt meets the versatility of a top. Designed with a relaxed fit that hits just below the hips and an elevated boatneck, this sweatshirt is the type of timeless style you’ll return to season after season. Plus, it comes with contrast stitch details around the edges for that little something extra.
- Relaxed fit.
- Body length: 24″.
- Hits below hip.
- 100% cotton.
- Machine wash.
MY THOUGHTS: This denim jacket has a really cool vibe. I love the relaxed fit and stand collar, and the slightly roomier cut makes it easy to layer over tees or lightweight sweaters. It feels like a fresh update to the classic trucker style without straying too far from what works.
VERDICT: Keeping this one, too!

This is a beautiful top, and highly versatile. You can wear it alone or as a layer under a jacket or blazer. I love the soft knit fabric, and the neckline is especially pretty. It is quite form fitting, though, and at this point I tend to prefer a slightly more relaxed silhouette.

VERDICT: Since this one was gifted, I’ll hang onto it for now and see if I find the right moment to wear it.

Nation Los Angeles Katie Top – 15% off with JOLYNNE15
c/o Nation Los Angeles (M) // FRAME The Lax (29) // Sam Edeman Saige Bootie (8.5)

MY THOUGHTS: This is also a beautiful top, but quite form-fitting. I love the bold red and the trendy asymmetrical neckline. It definitely makes a statement.
VERDICT: I’ll keep this one for a while and see how often I reach for it.

Seamed Kick Pant in Stretch Cotton-Blend in Midnight Navy
c/o Theory (10) // Theory Sweater Tee (M) c/o // Vince Bianka (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Vertical seams define this mid-rise pant for a refined, elongated look. Finished with a flared hem, the silhouette features side on-seam pockets and a front zip fly. It’s crafted with a flexible yet compact blend of certified recycled nylon and certified organic cotton that is grown, spun, and woven in Turkey.
- Mid rise, flared leg
- Cropped length
- 65% cotton, 29% nylon, 6% elastane
- Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low.
MY THOUGHTS: Theory also sent me a couple of pieces to try. As you would expect, the quality and fit are impeccable. The styles do lean a bit more serious and tailored, though. If you’re looking for elevated workwear, this would absolutely be a great place to start.
The ponte knit kick flare with the seamed detail is very on trend right now, and these are beautifully made. I’m just not quite sure how I would style them to suit my more casual day-to-day life. They really are gorgeous pants, though.
Fit note: I would recommend sizing up if you’re in between sizes.

Sweater Tee in Regal Wool in Oxblood Red
c/o Theory – on sale! (M) // Theory Seamed Kick Pant (10) c/o // Vince Bianka (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: This short-sleeve tee features a crew neck and classic ribbed trim. Perfect for lightweight layering, this sweater is crafted in a fine-gauge merino wool from Australia that’s spun and knit in Italy.
- Slim fit, short sleeves
- Regular length
- 100% wool; exclusive of elastic
- Dry clean.
MY THOUGHTS: This is a beautiful sweater and a finer gauge knit than some of the other sweater tees I’ve tried. It would make a great layering piece. It comes in a wide range of colors, and some are currently on sale, with prices as marked.
Fit note: I feel like it runs slightly small. I would size up if you prefer a more relaxed fit.

Relaxed V-Neck Cardigan in Regal Wool in Pale Sand
c/o Theory (S) // Theory Seamed Kick Pant (10) c/o // Splendid tank (M) // Vince Bianka (8.5)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Expertly knit in Italy with fine-gauge merino wool, this luxurious button-front cardigan feels as luxurious as it looks. Designed to be the foundation of your wardrobe, it’s cut for a more loose, relaxed fit with a V-neckline and ribbed trim.
- 100% wool; exclusive of elastic
- Relaxed fit, long sleeves
- Hip length
MY THOUGHTS: This is such a nice, classic staple. It’s lightweight but well made, with a subtle slub texture that keeps it from feeling too plain. It also comes in black and forest green, which are great options if you prefer deeper neutrals.
Fit note: I requested a small in this one, and I think the fit is just right.

ruti The On The Loose Work Pants
c/o ruti (8) // Quince sweater (S) // AllSaints Anna (M) // Steve Madden Aziel (9)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Ruti’s On The Loose Work Pants are laid-back chic, uber comfortable and endlessly versatile. The ultra-flattering tapered leg design make for our favorite pant silhouette.
- Side pockets
- Elastic waistline
- Ankle-length
- Tapered leg
- Lightweight and wrinkle-free
- Standard Inseam: 26 3/4″
- Standard Rise: 10 3/4″
- 78% Nylon; 22% Spandex
- Machine wash cold. Hang to dry.
MY THOUGHTS: These pants kept popping up in my Instagram feed, and I was intrigued but never pulled the trigger. Then they offered to send me a pair to try, so I figured, why not?
They arrived, and ever since I tried them on, I’ve worn them at least for a portion of almost every day. They are incredibly comfortable. The fabric is sleek, soft, and stretchy, but it never bags out. The shape is a little unconventional, yet for some reason it really works.

The deep front pockets are designed in such a way that they don’t gape, a smooth flat front, and an elasticized band in the back that keeps the rear view clean and streamlined. These are definitely going to be a go-to for travel and easy casual days, and I even wore them out to dinner with a friend one night. They’re just so versatile and effortless.
Fit note: The website indicates these run big, and I would agree. The size 8 fits me perfectly, and I’ve needed a 10 in many pants lately, so I would recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes.
VERDICT: So glad I gave these a try. Definitely keeping.

Aritzia Lodge Pants
at Aritzia (M) // Faherty tee (S) // Kaanas sandals (8) // Vince cable sweater (M) // Margaux flats (39)

PRODUCT DETAILS: We took the elastic-waist pant and elevated it. These are high-rise pants beloved for their unmatched comfort and refined look. They’re made with Crepette™ — our one-of-a-kind Japanese crepe fabric beloved for its subtle texture, breezy drape and the fact that it basically never wrinkles.
- Origin: Fabric from Japan
- Content: 100% polyester
- Care: Machine wash
- Inseam pockets
- Drawcord waistband
- Inseam: Size S is 30″
MY THOUGHTS: I’m very torn on these pants. I love the overall fit, and the crepe fabric is beautiful. It has just enough weight to drape nicely without feeling heavy. They really are the quintessential elevated black drapey pant.

But, as is often the case for me with Aritzia pants, the waist is too tight. I worry that sizing up to a large would make them too big everywhere else. I loosened the tie as much as possible, and it didn’t help. After wearing them around for 10 to 15 minutes, the waistband felt like it was digging in. The rise is actually perfect, so that isn’t the issue. They’re also just slightly too long.

VERDICT: Sadly, these had to go back. I’m tempted to try the large and see if a tailor could take them in through the sides, but I’m not sure they would look quite right.

Gap Easy Wide-Leg Pants
at Gap (S) // Splendid Emerson c/o (M) // Vince cable sweater (M) // Margaux flats (39)

PRODUCT DETAILS:
- Elasticized waist with inner drawcords.
- Side pockets.
- Made with 57% recycled polyester.
- Mid rise. Wide leg.
- Recycled Polyester 57%, Polyester 34%, Elastane 9%
- Machine wash.
MY THOUGHTS: Next, I tried this pair from Gap. The quality isn’t quite on par with the Aritzia pair, but I do like the feel of the fabric. It’s very soft, drapey, and comfortable.

The length is perfect on me, and the waistband is more comfortable overall, though it does sit slightly lower than I prefer. I appreciate that the tie is on the inside, which gives you more flexibility when it comes to tucking or leaving a top untucked.

VERDICT: I want to play around with them a little more, but I’m leaning toward keeping these.
Fit note: These run big. I’m wearing the small, and the fit feels just right.

AYR The High Hopes
at AYR (M) // Faherty tee (M) // Kaanas sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: One of our all-time bestsellers. Cut from our signature blend of Peruvian pima cotton and premium modal. Soft, smooth, drapes like a dream, and looks good with everything. Worth the hype.
- Key Measurements (from size M): Waist: 29 1/4″; Hip: 40 1/2″; Rise: 11 1/4″; Leg Opening: 10 1/8″
- 58% Pima Cotton; 39% Modal; 3% Spandex, milled in Peru.
- Turn garment inside out, machine wash cold, dry on lowest setting, cool iron if needed.
MY THOUGHTS: I really wanted to love these. The fabric is beautiful, thick but still soft, and the silhouette is very slimming. But they were too tight in the waist, and overall I think they were simply too small for me, especially since they’re described as draping like a dream.
VERDICT: I returned them, but I’d love to try again in the large.

Joelle Stretch Linen Trouser with Tie Waist in Navy
c/o EVEREVE (M) // Splendid Skye Short Sleeve Tee (S) // Reformation Eleanora Slingbacks (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Crafted from a comfortable stretch linen, the Joelle Trouser by EVEREVE features a high-rise tie waist, wide-leg silhouette, and full-length inseam.
- Drawstring Waist, Zip Fly
- Front Rise: 11 3/4″
- Inseam Length: 31″
- Leg Opening: 22 1/2″
- 53% Linen, 44% Lyocell, 3% Spandex Woven
- Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
MY THOUGHTS: These are a really nice update to last year’s Joelle linen trousers, which are still available and currently on sale, by the way.

While I don’t typically gravitate toward a tie waist, these also button and zip, and they have a tailored flat front with a long, lean leg line that’s very flattering.

At 5’5″, I do need to wear these with a heel, as they’re a bit long for flats on me. They also come in Ecru and Agave Green.
VERDICT: Keeping! I plan to wash them first and see if they take up at all, and then I’ll decide whether to hem them for flats or keep the length for heels.

PAIGE Ari Wide Leg Pant
c/o PAIGE (30) // Faherty tee // Dolce Vita sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Ari is our modern high rise, wide leg weekender pant with a lightweight, relaxed fit and an ankle-length inseam. Crafted from super soft denim, this pair comes in a vintage-inspired dark forest green with utility pockets and a waistband tie.
- Rise: 11 5/8”
- Inseam: 29”
- Leg Opening: 22 1/2”
- 99% Cotton, 1% Spandex
MY THOUGHTS: I absolutely love these pants. They’re the perfect denim alternative, and an updated utility pant. The shape is sleek and streamlined, and I love the subtle utility details and tie waist. The back pocket placement is really flattering, and the 29-inch inseam is perfect for wearing with flats in the spring and summer.

VERDICT: Keeping! I cannot wait to wear these.

Wit & Wisdom Skyrise Patch Pocket Wide Leg Pants
at Nordstrom (8) // Free People tank (M) // Kaanas sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Get things done in these stretch-twill utility pants made with a high waist, full-length wide legs and a solid hue.
- 31″ inseam; 24″ leg opening; 11 1/2″ front rise; 16 1/2″ back rise
- Zip fly with button closure
- Front welt-patch pockets
- 97% cotton, 3% spandex
- Machine wash, tumble dry
MY THOUGHTS: They definitely need a good steam, but these pants are really good, especially at this moderate price point. They have a comfortable elastic band inside the waistband and a nice long, lean silhouette. I do need to wear them with a heel, though.

VERDICT: I’m holding onto these for now, but I may not need both this pair and the PAIGE pair, especially since I also have the navy linen pants to wear with heels.

PAIGE Anessa 31 Inch Wide Leg Jean in La Belle
c/o PAIGE (30) // Velvet Zoella Sleeveless Collared Sweater (M) // Gola Chase c/o EVEREVE (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Anessa is our high-waisted wide leg with a slightly relaxed fit and a 31″ inseam. Cut from TRANSCEND VINTAGE denim in a light wash a front yoke, stitch-through pockets, and a raw hem, this pair combines the signature comfort of Transcend with rich denim character for a lived-in look.
- Rise: 11 5/8″
- Inseam: 31″
- Leg Opening: 22 1/2″
- 95% cotton, 3% elastomultiester, 2% elastane
MY THOUGHTS: I love the silhouette of these. The Anessa shape is always flattering on me, and the fit is really nice. That said, I’m not crazy about the front yoke detail, and the wash leans a bit more acid-washed than I typically prefer. It’s just not quite my favorite version of this style.
VERDICT: I don’t think I’ll hold onto this pair. I already have several others that I reach for more.

Heritage terry boatneck sweatshirt with contrast stitch
at J.Crew (S) // KUT from the Kloth Kelsey (10) // Birks (39)

PRODUCT DETAILS: The comfort of a sweatshirt meets the versatility of a top. Designed with a relaxed fit that hits just below the hips and an elevated boatneck, this sweatshirt is the type of timeless style you’ll return to season after season. Plus, it comes with contrast stitch details around the edges for that little something extra.
- Relaxed fit.
- Body length: 24″.
- Hits below hip.
- 100% cotton.
- Machine wash.
MY THOUGHTS: This is a fun, beyond-basic sweatshirt with contrast stitching and a boatneck design. It feels like a nice step up from a standard pullover. It definitely runs big. I’m wearing the small. The length is great left untucked, not too long and not too short, which makes it really easy to pair with high-rise jeans or trousers.
VERDICT: Keeping.

DKNY Rib Short Sleeve Sweater
at Nordstrom (S) // KUT from the Kloth Kelsey (10) // Dolce Vita sandals (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: A ribbed texture adds style points to a short-sleeved sweater knit from a lightweight yarn blend.
- V-neck
- Short sleeves
- 75% rayon, 25% nylon
- Machine wash, dry flat
MY THOUGHTS: I was drawn to this piece for its simple shape, flattering V-neck, and subtle ribbed texture. It comes in a wide range of colors and pairs effortlessly with both trousers and jeans.
VERDICT: I love the color, but the proportions aren’t quite right on me. I think it would suit someone taller or with a longer torso.

Velvet Zoella Sleeveless Collared Sweater
at EVEREVE (M) // PAIGE Anessa c/o (30) // Gola Chase c/o EVEREVE (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Finished in a luxe cotton-cashmere knit, this striped sleeveless sweater by Velvet features a relaxed, cropped silhouette with a rolled edge hem and collared button-front neckline.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 20 1/2″
- Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Cashmere Knit
- Care: Machine Wash
MY THOUGHTS: I love this little collared sweater. The combination of sleeveless with a collar is such a fun detail, and I think it’s super cute. The rugby-style stripes give it a sporty vibe, but the cotton-cashmere knit gives it a more elevated look and feel. The quality is really nice.
VERDICT: Definitely keeping.

Gola Chase Sneaker
c/o EVEREVE (8)

PRODUCT DETAILS: Designed with a retro feel, the Chase Sneaker by Gola features an ultra-slim sole and suede upper that will add a sleek touch to any look.
MY THOUGHTS: These sneakers are right on trend right now, with the ultra-slim sole, minimalist styling, and light beige-and-white colorway. They’re also really comfortable, but I guessed wrong on the size. I often wear an 8 in Gola, but I definitely need an 8.5 in this pair.
VERDICT: Exchanging for the 8.5.

And that’s everything from this round of spring try-ons! Some are clear winners, there are a few maybes, and then there’s always a few that just didn’t quite work for me.
I hope this post gives you some inspiration for your own spring outfits, whether you’re packing for a getaway or just getting dressed for real life. I’ll keep refining my St. Lucia packing list and share what makes the final cut!

Wow, that was a lot. Thanks. Love the short tb dress on you and the navy Joelle pant. Definitely going to order those. Thanks for including so much detail about fit, always saves me on returns.
I think the polo sweater would look better with full length length wide leg jeans. I wish the front patch pockets would be laid to rest. They do emphasize the stomach area. Since I lost some weight I can start wearing my pants with those pockets again. I’m not buying anymore though. I love the shoes. I have similar styles of wedges and I don’t care if they’re trending or not. They’re comfortable and give me height when I need it. Love the dresses and tie waist pants.
Is it just me or do the barrel leg pants make people look bowlegged? I’m trying to get used to them, but I’m having a difficult time doing so. I love the other style pants you featured. My favorite in this whole bunch is that short, navy dress. It’s perfect for you!
I agree Shelly, especially the exaggerated versions. To each their own, but I have no desire to look bowlegged. I’m definitely sitting this fad out!
I agree with you! I honestly don’t think they’re flattering and where I live (NE Ohio) I’ve never seen anyone wearing them. I prefer classic styles, and I love my patch pocket 70s flares from Gap. They fit me well and so comfortable. I remind myself Jo Lynn is sharing styles and trends to many women, and I’m not always on board lol 😉Love her blog best! 👍🏻
The Ruti pants are amazing. I can hear how much you like them in your description. The Ultimate Barrel Leag Jeans and The Wide-ish Pant are amazing too, just in case they offer you more ☺️ AYR The High Hopes have always been my go-to travel pants, but after menopause, they don’t fit as well. Even after sizing up, they weren’t as great. I switched to an Eileen Fisher wide-leg pull-on in a similar fabric, which was the right decision for me. I am excited to see what other new companies you try.
What sneakers are you wearing with the Frame patch pocket jeans?
They’re the adidas Samba, but a color way from last year.
I’m very picky about my jeans. I have 5 pairs of the Paige Ari’s. All different colors. I love them! Also, the AYR Secret Sauce are great in the washed black.
Oh My Goodness, Jo-Lynne, your gorgeous Winter coloring just glows in that icy lavender short sleeve sweater!!! I also love how you look in the red Katie top. Those espadrilles… started to cause an aspirational shoe craving in me! 🙂 I found a similar pair I’ve had my eye on – an espadrille wedge – which I just adore but realize I’d likely not often wear. LOL!
Love this haul! Such beautiful pieces. My favorite was the off-white denim jacket. I also liked the hot pink top you styled with white jeans. I may try that one as I am 5’9”. You look gorgeous in the olive colored pants.
Love it all! Is the Michael Star tank tts?
Yes, i think so.
I received the Aritzia lodge pants in birch (off white) today. I’m returning them-nice quality but seem a bit snug in the rear and waist; the front pockets were off to me? I’ll keep searching!
The barrel pants always look cute on the hanger and even the pink Evereve ones you have here—but I tried on a barrel at Loft once and its not a good look for me. It just make me look short–and weirdly shaped.
I was wondering if you’ve ever done a post of guest outfit ideas for casual baby/wedding showers? I’ve seen your vacation ones and wedding/formal ones but I don’t recall seeing shower outfits–cute, comfortable and stylish would be awesome.
Great try on haul! I absolutely love the Ruti pants. Still trying to decide which size to go with. I have 3 pairs in my cart. Just can’t decide on size.
I guess you saw they’re 20% off right now! I know it says they run big but honestly the 8 fit me just right, but they were a little bit snug after a few days on vacation, so I probably could’ve gone with a 10, and that’s true size for me right now (between 8 and 10). I hope that’s helpful.
Thank you that is very helpful! And that’s the way I was leaning. Going with my regular size.
