Spring Sweatshirts & Sweaters

Spring is in the air, but some of us are still experiencing cooler temps, so today I’m rounding up some of my favorite spring sweaters and sweatshirts to wear while we wait for the weather to warm up.

SUNDRY Lace Up Sweatshirt (S) // KUT from the Kloth Jane Porkchop Shorts (6) (also at Zappos and Nordstrom) // Dolce Vita Iman Braided Slides (8) (also at Zappos) // J.Crew Straw Market Tote // YSL sunglasses (option)

This SUNDRY Lace Up Sweatshirt is a splurge for sure, but when I saw it on sale, I grabbed it because I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of it.

The lace up design with black and white striped laces and colorful tips are so fun, and the bright white terrycloth material is perfect for the spring and summer. It’s a comfortable cotton/modal knit that has a nice drape, and the 23″ length hits my sweet spot and allows me to leave it untucked with shorts or jeans.

I love the juxtaposition of long sleeve sweaters and sweatshirts with shorts this time of year. It’s also a great look for warm weather vacations where the evenings often cool down.

These denim pork chop shorts are a nice alternative to the cut-off and cuffed versions that have ruled the day for the past few seasons.

I like the finished hem and the trendy patch pockets, as well as the 4″ inseam. I got mine at Evereve, and they’re also at Zappos and Nordstrom in limited sizes.

Braided slides in a neutral skin tone keep the look casual yet elevated, and this pair is perfect for the beach because they’re made of a durable recycled plastic. They have the look of leather, but you don’t have to worry about getting them wet or sandy.

Shop Elevated Sweatshirts

Evereve is usually my go-to for elevated sweatshirts, and they aren’t all as pricey as the lace-up one I’m wearing here. I also found some good ones at LOFT, Athleta, and Nordstrom, so I did a roundup below.

Lightweight cotton sweaters are another way to achieve this look when you want to level up a bit more, so I rounded up some of those too!

  1. Good morning Jo-Lynne,

Thank you for all you do. This time of year I always found myself just putting on a solid long-sleeved cotton shirt. Thanks to your elevated sweatshirt recommendations, my wardrobe is becoming so much more fun! I have already added to my collection the blake taped hoodie, the raya sunset pullover, and the vuori sweatshirt from your recommended list and I can vouch for all – I love them! I just ordered the porkchop shorts to try, as well. Thanks again!

    Happy Friday!

  2. I definitely fall into this category weather wise! The sweatshirts and sweaters are on repeat these days. The sun is shining but we still have those cool days! Thanks for all these great options! I love the. Lighter weight sweatshirts that are in between a sweatshirt and sweater!
    Have a great weekend 🌸

  3. I needed this post. I’ll have to look closer. It’s been so cold here in NW Oregon and we might hit record for coldest April ever. Not one record I care to break. I see tomorrow might warm up some and even into low 70’s next weekend but that is a ways away. Lol. I can wish though. I have the Evereve Sunset sweatshirt. Its a great fit and made so well. I spent more than I usually do but worth it. It said off black but don’t you think it leans toward greyish blue? Not really blue but a grey that leans toward that. Perfect color. I got it on sale so helped some. Enjoy your weekend.

  4. LOVE my Dolce Vita braided sandals! The first time I wore them, it suddenly rained, and I got them wet. :/ No problem, though! They still look just like new. I reach for them often and will do so even more as the weather becomes consistently warmer.

  5. Had a gift certificate to use and finally got those Kut denim shorts, think I got the last pair Northstrom had and in my size! They came today and fit perfectly and not too short. Love the denim wash and quality of these. Thanks for the tip!
