The Family Table

Lori at Glass Half Full is having a photo tag this weekend.  (Hat tip to Steph at Adventures in Babywearing, by the way.)

So this is our family table.  We have every meal at this table.  Family dinner was a priority in both my husband’s and my homes growing up, so it was just understood that we would share dinner together at the table every evening.  From the first week of our marriage and ever since, going on 12 years now, we have sat down together for dinner at this table.

This dinette set was a wedding gift from my grandfather.  It has seen some wear and tear, not the least of which was the nail polish fiasco that involved my daughter, C, when she was 2 years old.  That was the same year she cut her own hair.  But that’s a story for another time.  Let’s just say, that was a pretty tough year where that child is concerned.  But I digress.

So without further prattle ado, I give you, our family table…

  1. Oh, our table, if you look close has so much wear & tear, but that adds to the character. Yes? : ) And oh how I felt when I spilled nail polish removed on our brand new coffee table after just 1 month. Ouch.

  2. Oh how nice! You can’t see the wear and tear at all! I love how you can look outside while you sit at the table. 🙂

Come on by and check out my family table if you’d like.

  3. I have the table my parents owned when I was a child. It seats 12 (whew!) and is still a great table though I’m having it refinished in November.

  4. Love the spindle chairs and what is your wall color? From the picture is really sets off the color of your table nicely!

  5. We have several marks on our table that have stories. That makes me want to keep this table forever, so we can always remember when they were young. 🙂
