I’m teaming up with my fashionable friends for another style collab, and this week we are sharing our top 3 must-have wardrobe pieces for summer. Summer is by far my favorite time of year. I love the warmth, the sun, the cookouts, the mild evenings around the fire pit, the longer days, and the feeling of sand between my toes.
Dressing for summer is less about layering and more about having a few great wardrobe items that you can put together in different ways. These are my top 3 must-have wardrobe pieces for summer.
1. White Jeans
I’ve written ad nauseum about the versatility and necessity of a great pair of white jeans, so this item has to make the top of my list.
I love to pair them a black and white top for a crisp, chic date night look.
They’re also great paired with bold colors. You can always throw on a blue jean jacket if you’re worried you might get chilly, and the casual blue denim against the crisp white creates a nice contrast.
White jeans also look great with pastels.
I could go on and on, but you get the drift. I’d like to add some “distressed” white jeans to my wardrobe for more casual outfits. I know I’m probably too old, but for some reason I love the casual, edgy vibe of deconstructed denim.
2. Wedge Sandals
Everyone needs a great pair of wedge sandals for summer. I have several, but I really love my new Oasis High Wedges from Payless for dressing up a skirt or shorts.
For more casual outfits, I love these gold Børn Tilda Sandals.
If you can only have one pair, I recommend a neutral. I love these “tobacco” colored wedges by Stuart Weitzman. I’ve had them for years, and they’re still my faves.
3. Easy To Wear Dress
Finally, a versatile casual dress that’s easy to wear is a must. My go-to dress this summer is this Athleta Dot Fuse Dress. I like how I can pair it with sneakers for a casual day of sight seeing.
Or with my embellished black sandals for a work event.
I could even wear it with a pair of black pumps and go out to dinner if I wanted to. The breathable material makes it perfect for hot summer days, but I can throw a jean jacket on over it for evening if I need extra warmth.
Of course, I have many more indispensable pieces of clothing in my summer wardrobe, but I wouldn’t want to live without these.
