Trend to Try: Ecru Jeans

Ecru jeans are the next big denim trend, and I’m here for it. I’ve always loved white denim in the summertime. It’s so crisp and fresh, and it pairs with all neutrals and colors, but a lot of women are afraid to wear white jeans. If you’ve been hesitant to try white denim, perhaps you will like ecru.

Off-white jeans (ecru, ivory, bone, cream… whatever you want to call it) are easier to wear than white because they don’t seem quite as stark, and since they’re just taking off, they look really updated and new. If you like to be a step ahead of the trends, you definitely need to add some ecru denim to your closet ASAP.

This pair is from Evereve, and they’re the KUT from the Kloth brand. They’re thin without feeling chintzy, and soft and stretchy — very comfortable. They have a 10″ rise and a slim, straight silhouette with a 27 1/4″ inseam and a raw hem; and they run true to size.

For a soft dinner-out look, I paired these ecru jeans with a pale blue square neck sweater. The square neckline is also trending right now, and I like how it gives this sweater an updated look without being too froo-froo.

So many sweaters these days have ruffles and puffed sleeves, but this sweater is understated and feminine but still looks modern due to the square neck and subtle gathered shoulders.

I accessorized with white and gold jewelry from Evereve to keep the look soft and subtle. This stone stretch bracelet is really pretty and easy to wear.

This picture also gives you a good view of the distressing on the front pocket of the jeans. Except for the raw hems, this is the only distressing on these jeans.

The mini pearl necklace is also from Evereve. It’s 18″ long and adjustable, with a string of gold discs and a small pearl in the middle.

And these drop earrings are so pretty; I get compliments whenever I wear them. They’re large but lightweight, and they look great with so many summer looks.

I wore my favorite cognac wedge sandals and a coordinating baguette bag to add a warm contrast to the look.

What do you think? Will you be trying ecru jeans this spring?

Diana from Live to Adore Photography took these pictures, and she was an absolute dream to work with. I highly recommend her if you’re ever in the Orlando area.

  1. Love the softnesses of this look! I’m a white jean gal at heart but I could easily give the ecru look a go!

  2. This is a fun twist on an old staple. I agree that they’re not as stark, and I’m curious if they’re less likely to be too see-thru. Also I think they’d be great as a “winter white” – I love the idea of white jeans in the winter but they always seem too bright.

  3. I usually wear a 6 or an 8 in jeans lately. Are these jeans stretchy enough that I should order a 6? Shopping online and choosing sizes lately has been tricky for me. I’m ordering the off-white jeans, earrings and bracelet. The earrings are so different!

  4. I won’t be trying this trend because I can’t wear light colored pants (at all—too many lumps and bumps!), but I wanted to say you look fabulous in this outfit. It’s truly stunning on you!

  5. I’ve been interested in getting off-white/ ecru jeans but I’m not interested in the raw hem. Can you recommend some brands that have sewn hems? Also, not premium brand priced?

      1. I own these Old Navy jeans (in several colors, including ecru) and love them. They fit true to size. Old Navy runs a sale on their jeans about every other week so I never pay full price. They come in petite, regular and tall.

  6. That is a gorgeous Spring-y color palette together (which, as usual, you style to-the-nines so perfectly!). I even like the design of the sandals, too (LOL! — I’m not, no offense intended, generally a fan of the other kinds of shoes having either square open toes or really clunky platform wedges; though, my feet at this age are starting to pay for all the tumbles and sprains from childhood gymnastics classes — so that’s just my predicament, sigh!). However, I like this color combination better than the “stark” white with (often) navy (I think navy can seem, IMO, too drab for warmer weather or like someone is trying to look as if they’re always boarding a yacht). I’m 5′ 7″ and a 10-12 with a pear frame, but there are soooo many specialized varieties of shapewear available (to camo every possible “flaw” imaginable, lol): you’re no longer left with only skimpy options when it comes to underthings not making the backside look like a roadmap (in lighter pants). I LOVE the colors of this outfit and would not feel (as someone that isn’t in as trim shape as you, for example, are) the least bit self-conscious wearing it without a drapey coverup.

  7. Not sure how I feel about off-white jeans. I love white jeans for their starkness! That said, I would definitely give them a try as I wear white jeans often in the spring and summer when going out. I think they would be just as easy to get dirty as white, though. Anyone else debate, when wearing white jeans, whether to order your favorite red wine???

    1. Colleen, I agree: I hesitate to drink red wine or black coffee when wearing white jeans. I am not usually clumsy but ya never know! Why chance it? Jo-Lynne, love the jeans. Didn’t know that ecru was trending. Glad you got to go to Orlando and see your youngest perform with her Band. Its nice to get a break from fickle Spring/ Winter weather.

    2. I don’t know, I guess I like to live dangerously. I eat and drink and do everything in white jeans. 🙂 Although I am careful to completely cover my lap with a napkin when at a restaurant.

  8. Love the light blue sweater, perfection! This outfit looks so put together and looks great on you! I think I want to try the ecru jeans, would go with so much.

  9. You photograph well but these photos are amazing, particularly the two where you describe your sweater. Just wow!

You have worn those wedge sandals often this spring. They must be comfortable. I must try them before they sell out.

  10. Yay for the ecru/cream/off white jeans! I actually bought a pair a few years from Lands’ End of all places, and have been wearing them non-stop. But they are more of a full-length style and I wanted something more cropped for spring. Found the perfect pair at Madewell last week. I will probably wear the ecru jeans into the Fall more than my bright white pairs. The blue sweater is very pretty! Thanks, Jo-Lynne!

      1. Another combination with them, I think, would look equally as good would be: if you made the base layer top piece pure white (either a fitted cami or scoopneck bodysuit) and, wore a pastel blazer over it.

  11. Oh, I really like this outfit and you look so nice! I see ecru as being a great transition color for those of us that only wear white jeans/pants in the summer. If I can find them at Nordstrom, I will give them a try.

  12. The lighting is so pretty in these photos! You look beautiful in this outfit! I love the light blue sweater with the ecru jeans. I recently bought a pair of ecru jeans with a raw hem that are a little wider in the leg and I really like them. I’ll have to look for a light blue top to try with them.

  13. Oh I love this outfit! It looks so pretty on you! I’ve been cleaning house and doing laundry like a madwoman today to get ready to go out of town tomorrow. Now I’m up way too late finishing up my packing. I’m scouring your blog as I put outfits together for inspiration and jewelry! So thanks again for all you do!
