Try-On Haul: LOFT Outlet, Nordstrom, Madewell & J.Crew
Greetings and happy Saturday! I have another try-on haul for you, and I’m also adding on some really good deals that I don’t want you to miss.
My try-ons ended up being mostly sweaters, and somehow I unintentionally tried on every one of them with AG Farrah skinnies, and all but one with the same pair of Jeffrey Campbell booties. 🤦🏻♀️ I usually try to have some variety, but that’s just how it worked out.
Anyway, if you’re in the market for some new sweaters, you won’t want to miss this post! (Oh, there’s also a cute Christmassy blouse and a really fun leopard faux fur jacket in here!)
Try Ons: LOFT Outlet
I placed an order from LOFT Outlet, since learning that they’re online now, and I found a couple of really cute sweaters that are holiday-ish, but you could still wear them into January and February.
Also, right now LOFT Outlet is running a 60% off sale with free shipping!!!
LOFT Outlet Fairisle Crew Neck Sweater (size S) // This sweater is really soft and stretchy, and I like the fairisle design across the chest, although it might be better suited to someone who is smaller on top than I am. I don’t usually want to draw all the attention to that area, but the colors are subtle enough that I think it works.
It runs true to size, but if you want some more wiggle room, you could size up.
LOFT Outlet Leopard Print Crew Neck Sweater (size S) // This sweater has a similar fit and feel to the one above, but it has a really pretty leopard pattern that plays into the trend in a subtle way. I like that it doesn’t scream ANIMAL PRINT!
It looks gorgeous paired with white pants — I actually shot that look on Friday, and I can’t wait to share it with you! Like the one above, I would say it’s true to size, but you may want to size up for some more wiggle room.
Also, these jeweled bow flats are really comfortable, and they elevate any casual outfit into a festive holiday look! They’re TTS; I have my usual 8.
I was in Nordstrom, sourcing a sponsored post that will be going up on Tuesday, and I did some try-ons while I was there.
Chelsea28 Cross Front Blouse (size S) // This red blouse is such a great color for the holidays, and of course you could wear it right through Valentine’s Day.
It comes in TONS of other colors and prints too, and it runs TTS; I have the small.
Chelsea28 Faux Leopard Fur Jacket (size S) // And I’m totally in love with this jacket. In fact, I’m not sure why I didn’t bring it home with me. I guess I was afraid I wouldn’t wear it enough, but it’s it perfect for throwing on with a sweater and jeans for a fun night out, or for wearing with party looks too…
VERDICT: I may go back and get it.
Chelsea28 Eyelash Metallic Sweater (size small) // I think this sweater is so fun for holiday. I love the shimmer on the black, the extra long sleeves, and the flattering v-neck. I also like how it’s kind of open in the back of the neck. It does seem like it might “grow” as I wear it, so I might consider sizing down to an XS.
VERDICT: I didn’t buy it, but I keep thinking about it. If it goes on sale, I’ll snap it right up.
Chelsea28 Rib Metallic Sweater (size small) // I absolutely love this sweater for casual holiday looks, but I’ll keep wearing it throughout the winter. I love the ballet neck and raglan sleeves, and again, it has extra long sleeves and the neckline is a little more open in the back. It’s just a little sexier than your typical everyday sweater, but in a very subtle way.
I have the ivory metallic, but it also comes in grey and red. This sweater runs true to size, but with a generous fit; I have the small.
VERDICT: Bought it! In fact, I already styled it for an upcoming blog post!
Rails Lana Leopard Sweater (size S) // This sweater came in my last Trunk Club box, and I fell in LOVE. It’s such a great neutral color palette, and I love the solid cuffs, neckline, and hem. Yes, it’s pricey, but it just went 40% off!
It looks a lot more brown on the website, but I’d say the true color is something in between my pictures and theirs. I tried to correct the color in Lightroom, but it still looks cooler than it should, and my walls are no where near that yellow, so… I dunno! 🤷🏻♀️
VERDICT: Kept it! I’ve already worn it a bunch!
Aquatalia Tilly Weatherproof Booties // These pix are from a while back, but these booties are now 60% off! I thought they were worth a re-post. I did keep them, and I’ve already worn them in the rain, and they held up great.
VERDICT: Keeping! Worn them, love them.
Halogen x Atlantic-Pacific Fair Isle Sweater (size small) // So this sweater was a bit of a disappointment. I like the colors and pattern, but it has a reallllly high neck that is kind of tight. Not as in choking me tight, because the sweater itself is soft and stretchy, but it looks like it could be choking me!
It’s also on the cropped side of things, which works well with the super high rise jeans that are trending, but it’s about an inch too short for my comfort zone.
It’s pretty, though, and it could be right for someone. It’s also currently 40% off.
The AG Farrahs I’m wearing in these pix are 25% off at Bloomies, and I absolutely love them. The wash is the perfect mid to light wash for casual looks, and they have the raw hem, which you can cut shorter if they’re too long for you. I left them as-is, and I just cuff when I want them to be shorter.
J.Crew Mockneck center cable-knit sweater (size S) // This sweater is a nice one for those who don’t want any wool content because it’s 100% cotton. That means it’s not quite as warm or soft as some of the others, but it’s a very pretty knit.
I’d say it runs TTS, but I might size up for a looser fit. It’s also 40% off with code GIFTED.
VERDICT: Returning; the cable pattern isn’t the best for those of us who are larger chested.
J.Crew Chunky alpaca turtleneck sweater (size S) // Yes, I ordered this sweater in three colors! I just couldn’t decide. It’s suuuuuper soft and cozy and warm, which is exactly what I need right now. Our temps have been hovering in the mid-30s and are down into the 20s at night.
It has modest blouson sleeves and a comfortable turtleneck — not too tight, but definitely stands up if you want it to. I usually pull it down so it’s almost a cowl, just for comfort’s sake. I also like the raglan sleeves and the nubby texture. The oatmeal was a little shorter than the grey and ivory, which was weird. They’re all the same size small.
It runs TTS and is currently 40% off with code GIFTED.
VERDICT: Kept the grey and wore it on Sunday to church with black jeans. Sooooo warm and cozy. Love it!
Madewell Brookdale Fair Isle Turtleneck Sweater (size small) // This sweater, I love! I just don’t know how many fair isle sweaters I want to have in my closet… I think I have room for one more, tho! *wink*
It runs TTS, and it has a curved hemline, which I typically don’t care for, but I really like the length and shape of this one. The knit is a bit chunkier than some, and it’s very thick and cozy and warm.
You may want a tank under it, though, because it fits kind of loose, and the air has a way of wafting through. It’s also 40% off with code YULELOVEIET.
Okay, that’s a wrap! A few other notable items on sale…
J.Crew Women’s rollneckTM sweater in Fair Isle (size S) // I styled this for the blog earlier this week, but it’s on sale again (40% off with code GIFTED) and there are still a few sizes in stock. You can also find a few at Nordstrom, and they’re price matching.
J.Crew Mockneck sweater in supersoft yarn (size M) // I love this sweater. It’s soft and stretchy, and it has such pretty details. Plus on-shoulder seams, yay! I ordered the medium so it wouldn’t be quite so body-con, but I actually think the small would fit me better.
At any rate, it’s a beautiful sweater, and it comes in tons of colors. It’s also 40% off with code GIFTED.
Gap Metallic V-Neck Sweater (size S) // This sweater is only $30 right now (excluded from other Gap promos.) So pretty for holiday, and also comes in black.
GapFit Jacquard Quilted Pullover Hoodie (size S) // Cozy and casual, perfect for casual days at home or out and about. Use codes 48FLASH and TREAT, and it comes down to $35.
Funny story: after Alison shot this look for me, she went and bought this hoodie in the green pine. It also comes in lavender, navy, and black.
BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket (size M) // This suede moto is 33% off and it also comes in a pretty grey and a coral cedar. I’m seriously debating that coral cedar… I love this jacket so much, it really levels up jeans and a tee or sweater, and it’s comfortable too. I recommend sizing up if in between; I always take a medium in this brand.
There’s so much ore, but I have to run out for an appointment! I’ll be sharing any new finds throughout the day (and the week to come) in my JLS Tribe Facebook Group, so if you’re not a part of that, you should definitely join us!!!
