Two Casual Transition Outfits with Sneakers

Sneakers continue to be my preferred shoe choice for my casual everyday outfits, and while I love the juxtaposition of a luxe sweater and a great pair of fashion sneakers, sometimes I’d rather throw on a fun top or sweatshirt. Bonus points if it incorporates some bright color or an element of whimsy.

Evereve is my go-to retailer for finding exactly this type of top, and they’ve been killing it lately!

Today I’ve got two casual transition outfits that I’ll be wearing on repeat as we look forward to spring, and the first one features this side stripe pullover from Michael Stars.

It has the perfect easy fit with a banded waist, and I absolutely love that side stripe detail. The off-white color is fun for a change, and it’s super soft and cozy on the inside.

I paired it with these straight leg utility jeans by KUT from the Kloth. I shared these in last week’s Try-On Haul, so I won’t go into too much detail here, except to say these are a really nice update from your skinny jeans, if you’re looking for that.

The utility detail is very much on trend, and the slim straight style is flattering on almost every body type.

I usually wear a size 6 in KUT from the Kloth jeans, but I needed an 8 in these, so take that into consideration, if ordering.

And finally, these Sorel Kinetic Impact II Wonder Sneakers are such a great marriage of form and function.

They’re super supportive and extremely comfortable, and the lavender tab on the back and bold printed outsole are such a fun details.

I love how the off-white sneakers and pullover create a “sandwich” effect with the denim in the middle.

This whole look is so easy to wear while still looking put together. It’s great for casual errands, sightseeing and travel days, or meeting a friend for coffee.

I’m also a huge fan of a thermal top, and this Sundry Stripe Henley has a great fit and feel. It’s such a pretty shade of pink, and I love the snap henley neckline with a striped placket.

It has a relaxed fit with a straight hemline… hooray! (It seems like so many waffle henley tops have that exaggerated curved hemline.)

I sized up to the 2 (which equals a medium), but I probably could have ordered my usual size 1. I feel like it looks a little big on me, but it allows for shrinkage, and I don’t mind the extra wiggle room.

I paired it with my favorite washed black jeans, but they’re low inventory. The PAIGE Gemma would be another good choice, or you can certainly find washed black denim at a more affordable price point. I just really like the combination of pink and washed black or charcoal grey denim.

I also like how they pair with my VEJA Esplars with the black accents.

Again, this is such a cute and easy outfit to throw on and go for just about any casual activity. The thermal top is a little more fun than a basic sweater, and it has the ease of wash and wear!

Also, I want to give a shout out to Canvas Valley Forge for allowing us to use their beautiful space to shoot these photos. If you’re local and looking for an active 55+ community, the property is beautiful, and everyone seems so friendly.

I was joking with the folks over there that I better not tell Paul about it; I might come home and find a For Sale sign in our front yard. He would love the lack of maintenance and all of the amenities they have to offer.

  1. That space is definitely beautiful!

I bought the Reese utility jeans at my local Evereve; I went there specifically to try them on. I took my usual pants size. The reviews are mixed about sizing.

Now I wish I’d seen those tops!

  2. Love these outfits. However the reviews on the Michael Stars first top are not very good… stripes not attached well, top is boxy and does not launder well. Fabric seems cheap. I was going to order as a gift but did not. Please let us know how it holds up to wear and washing. It is cute.

    1. Hm, I love the boxy fit, and I think the fabric is nice. I love it! Super soft inside, just thick enough to be a sweatshirt, but not bulky. I will have to take a look at the stripes.

    2. I’m puzzled; those negative comments don’t appear on the page for this top. Perhaps this refers to a different top? (Their grey Sophis rainbow stripe top does have mixed reviews.)
I saw this side-striped top in our local Evereve and thought it was good quality and really cute. It’s lightweight, making it perfect for transitioning to spring.
I want that pink top, and now I have a better idea of which size to buy (our local Evereve didn’t get that one.)
      Love both of these outfits!

  3. Love the henley. I wish it came in a different color. That shade of pink really clashes with my red hair. 🙁 I’m wearing sneakers more often day to day, too. Thank you for styling jean outfits with them. For my lifestyle and where I live, they really do make a lot of sense. I bought my first pair of Hokas– a style that doesn’t look like I’m wearing the box- lol. They’re black and white and I find myself gravitating to outfits that I can wear with them. I’m seriously considering getting a white pair. I also bought a pair of P228 Johns from NordyRack, thinking I could wear them with dresses and shorts on a couple of trips I have coming up this spring and summer.

  4. When you said wearing a size 2 top I thought is she buying now from Chico’s. I had to follow the link. I’m not a Chico’s shopper either and I certainly am old enough to be. Lol. No offense to those who like Chico’s. I am only familiar with their outlet store and all I ever saw was gaudy jewelry and polyester tunics in hideous prints. I do like their wide leg jeans on line. I’ve been looking at Evereve and I like their clothes except for the prices.

  5. Love both tops and outfits! Those tops are right down my alley with how I dress, just wish they were lower priced, I’ve ordered from Evereve in the past for sale items and love their clothing, they have such good ideas on their website too.

  6. I live in Lancaster and also LOVE Evereve. Please use your influencer status and clout to convince them to open a store nearby!!! (Such a missed market opportunity in my selfish opinion). I would accept anywhere within a two hour radius;)

      1. When I was in Naples in December the Evereve store manager told me we are getting one in KOP – I think in the Wegmans shopping center.

  7. These are great outfits and so in line with how I like to dress most days! Would love to see more posts like this. Thanks so much.

  8. This gives me ideas to pull out my pink henley I rarely wear and don’t know why. Its not as bright as yours and I believe has the rounded hemline. I don’t really mind it. I think you have the army green in it.
