What I Wore Lately Vol. 17

Happy hump day, friends! I usually post What I Wore Lately every other week, but I’ve already saved up a bunch of outfits, so I thought I’d go ahead and share what I’ve got so far.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and 135 pounds-ish, with a slight hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe. If you have any questions about fit and sizing, don’t hesitate to ask!

What I Wore Lately: Early July

We’ll start with last Wednesday — my birthday! I had a photo shoot with Alison that morning, and then I wore this casual outfit for the rest of the day, until it was time to get ready to go out to dinner.

This linen tee is now marked down to $20, and it comes in a bunch of colors. I’m wearing my usual small, and this is how it looks after washing on cold and laying flat to dry. You could size up for a more relaxed fit and a little more length.

Paul took us all out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants, and it’s a bit of an upscale place, so I wore a dress for the fun of it.

This dress is very lightweight, so it’s cool and comfortable for the hot weather we’ve been having.

I wore these gold heels and added some statement jewelry — a Victoria Emerson boho cuff and these Kendra Scott drop earrings in a light gold.

Then I layered two delicate Gorjana necklaces because I didn’t want to compete with the earrings, but I felt like I needed something in the neckline.

Masks are required until you get to your table, so I made sure to bring one that coordinates. This is from my Sanctuary 5-pack.

The next day, I had an appointment with my doctor to read my MRI results. Even though it was hot out, I wore jeans because I’m always cold in doctors’ offices.

And I picked up this camo tee when it was on sale a few weeks back, but it’s back to full price for now.

That afternoon, a friend brought her kids over to swim in our pool, so I put my swimsuit on and joined them. This one just came in the mail, so I got brave and took a selfie to show you. I think the print is so pretty.

Prima Donna is currently my favorite swimwear brand because they offer bra cup sizing, and they have good coverage and support without the frump factor. I have two other suits from them, but since I’ve lost weight, they’re getting a little big so I just ordered this one.

I’ll keep wearing all three, though. I need more than two, now that I’m using the pool a lot, plus they’re too pricey to replace while they’re still in good condition.

That brings us to Friday, and I took the girls to the mall for the first time since Covid.

It was kind of weird, with the mask wearing and lines outside the stores, but it was still nice to be there and see things open and operational. I also got my long overdue Shake Shack fix!

Also, these jeans are on sale! I love them — the wash, the length, the raw hem, everything.

That night, we went out with friends for my birthday. Yes, I’m one of those people who celebrates all week long.

I wanted to wear the jumpsuit outfit I posted earlier this week, but it got really hot and humid over the weekend, and I knew I’d be super uncomfortable sitting outside in all that polyester, so I opted for shorts instead.

I was still hoping to wear those snake print espadrilles, but after having them on for about 5 minutes, I could already see my ankles starting to swell.

That’s never a good look in with an ankle strap sandal, and I also knew we might be doing a bit of walking, so I decided to be practical and wear flats. I like metallic leather in a flat sandal when I want to be comfortable but still look dressed-up.

I also switched shorts, but not because I didn’t like the first pair. I realized they needed an iron, and then I saw that they were dirty, so I was really glad I had another option in my closet.

This lace-up tank comes in a bunch of colors, and I picked it up when it was on sale, but it’s back to full price at the moment.

That brings us to July 4th! We hosted friends for a pool party, and I wore this navy and white striped top and white shorts.

This striped dolman tee is 40% off with code LOVEIT, and it’s TTS, or size down if in between. I have the small, but it’s roomy.

I know I said I wasn’t keeping these sandals, but at the last minute, I grabbed them out of my Trunk. I really like the barely there style and the dainty gold logo, and I find myself reaching for them more often than I originally thought I would.

The next day was Sunday, and we had church for the first time since Covid shut everything down back in mid-March.

I decided to keep the July 4th theme going, and I wore this navy and white striped dress from last year. My silver wedges are also from last year, so I don’t have any links.

After church, I threw on a tank top and shorts for the afternoon at home.

I didn’t go anywhere on Monday that I recall, but I went ahead and put on makeup and got dressed all the way down to my shoes and jewelry. I’m always more productive when I get fully dressed.

These yellow shorts run a little big, and I sized down to a 4, although I will say, they don’t stretch out much. I almost wish I had kept the 6. They look good, but they feel kind of tight in the bum, so they’re not as comfortable as some of my others.

Sizes are limited, but the same style comes in this really pretty light blue. Both colors are marked down to $29.

all details

And finally, this was yesterday. I called a “grace day” and stayed in my pajamas all day. (I did put on a bra, of course!) The tank and shorts are old, but I often find good deals on PJ Salvage at Nordstrom Rack. That’s where I got these shorts earlier in the season.

Yes, I threw on my Birks with my pjs. They have good support, and I’m trying to stand at my desk more. (Paul got me this adjustable desk so I can change positions throughout the day.)

Wow, what a note to end on. Oh, well, just keeping it real.

  1. Love this post! And I love the bathing suit-does the top fit true to bra size, and what size bottoms are you wearing? Thank you!

      1. Thank you! I was just checking to see what size of the bottoms you wore for reference so I could (hopefully) get my correct size but I do not see where you listed it. Bathing suits can be tricky!

  2. I love these posts! It’s like visiting a friend and going through their closet to see what’s getting worn IRL (in real life)
    Weekly works for me ☺️
Loving the TB sandals. Haven’t bit the bullet yet though…

  3. Love all your outfits!  The outfit you wore for your “upscale” birthday dinner, simple and classy!  I enjoy seeing your outfits weekly!  Gives me some inspiration on putting some different colors/styles together.  Yes, our PA weather has been so weird, it’s overcast this morning but was 70 @ 6 am, 100% humidity, #sauna  And those pop up t-storms….we’re in and out of the pool all afternoon…..Happy Humpday, have a good one!

  4. You look fantastic and what a great post. Great picture in swimsuit. Love it. Prayers for your tests.

  5. I really enjoy these posts!  Your new swimsuit is very pretty.  All of us need a grace day, don’t we!  The lace up sleeveless top looks great with white, and I suspect you can wear it with a lot of different colors.  Have a great day!

  6. These are always fun posts! And thank you for sharing the bathing suit photo. The fact that you look great set aside, this is a reminder for us not to be uncomfortable with our bodies. I ordered the WHBM lace-up tank and loved the look, but returned it because I couldn’t get past the polyester. Between the outdoor seating and my hot flashes, I knew it would be a no-go. LOL. I’m loving the Tory Burch Emmy sandals, but I find that I can’t wear my MIllers for long periods because they’re so flat.

I can’t wait for the Nordstrom preview!

    Happy Hump Day!

  7. Your swimsuit is on sale today 🙂 Still too pricey for me, since I don’t have a pool or live near the beach anymore, but maybe a good price for others. I wish we could get some of your rain here! It’s been SO hot and muggy, and the storms seem to break up right before they get here. Glad you had lots of fun celebrating your birthday!!!

  8. Always a fan of these posts and keeping it real. Love that you gave yourself a grace day . I think we all need that once and awhile especially after a busy week 🙂 The colors in your new bathing suit are pretty, and look really nice!   Our really hot weather has disappeared as well but Will hopefully be back by the weekend 🤷‍♀️. Maybe back to the high 90’s.
    Have a good one

  9. I like these posts weekly, I always find something I “must have” from something you’ve worn 🥰

  10. Love these. Weekly preferred as it’s easier to linger over each outfit and read the details, flip to the retailer, etc.  I sometimes find these posts too long because there’s so much info to ponder…and I do want to ponder because important decisions are to be made.

  11. Good morning! I will cast my vote for more “What I Wore” posts. I love this set when you wore three different lengths of White shorts! I also like the dresses, I find myself wearing them more and more during these hot days, even if I’m just hanging around the house. I can’t wait to get over to the KoP Mall. I’ve missed it!! Stay cool and well!

  12. Hello, Jo-Lynne! I’m enjoying the way that you are styling the different lengths of shorts. It gives me lots of inspiration. Thanks!

  13. I’m glad you took that pic in your bathing suit. You look really good! I am about the same sizing as you except for the dreaded 10 lbs more but that gives me confidence! A straw hat would look really good too! Just sayin….

  14. I love these posts.. weekly would be amazing :). I am a Sahm, with two (5 & 2), my go to house shoes are Birks, I have a leather pair for indoors (tile floors) & a bright pink pair of eva Birks for outside. Wearing them really makes a difference on my activity level, if my feet feel good I feel good.

  15. My 2 cents is for weekly “What I wore” too….. Love all your looks and peeking into what you wore and when. I checked out my local mall as well and it felt odd, I must say. The “fun factor” just wasn’t there. Felt like dash in, dash out. I hope our malls survive. Very strange weather here: cooled right off to 60 and rain, rain, rain. Need to build an ark!

  16. Weekly please! I love these posts. Do the gold Ann Taylor heels run TTS? The website says runs slightly small. Thanks!

  17. Love love those birks also but sadly I need a regular width. I like the posts once a week. Gives me something to read over my coffee.

  18. There is nothing like a good PJ Day. I do the same thing, slip a bra on & it’s an outfit, kind of?

    So deliciously leisurely!
