Black Jumpsuit for Summer

This post was supposed to be what I wore for my birthday dinner, but I ended up wearing something else both nights. I always do that, for some reason. I can’t ever seem to plan ahead.

But I still wanted to share it because I think it’s so cute!

Unfortunately the jumpsuit is pretty much sold out, so I linked up some other options at the end of the post.

I actually purchased this months ago, in my local store… so that must have been February or early March because we shut down due to Covid on Friday the 13th of March.

I held onto it, thinking I’d have an occasion to wear it, but so far, no dice. Oh, well. It’s a nice piece to have in the back of my closet for when events start up again.

The tie waist and short dolman sleeves are super flattering, and I love the V-back.

It dips just low enough to make it a little extra special, but not so low that it interferes with your bra.

The wide cropped leg is just enough to be flowy but not too voluminous, and the volume on the bottom helps to offset the wider shoulders, while the tie sash emphasizes the waist.

I did size down to the 4 in this jumpsuit, so if you’re considering ordering one of the sizes that are left, you may want to size down one from your normal LOFT dress size. I would typically wear a 6, but it swallowed me up.

I wore these snake print wedge espadrille sandals. They keep the look light and summery, while also adding some pattern and texture and lending a subtle edgy vibe.

For accessories, I wore an older pair of Stella & Dot chandelier earrings and my D Yurman link bracelet, although I think this Victoria Emerson Manarola boho cuff would also look great with this outfit.

Oh, and I wanted to tell you, I made a mistake in Friday’s post — the boho cuff I was wearing with the pink henley tee is actually the Cairo. For some reason, I thought it was supposed to go the other way, with the beige side facing out.

The nice thing is, you can wear it both ways, so you’re pretty much getting 2 bracelets in one!

Also, the Victoria Emerson BOGO Sale has been extended, so if you didn’t get a chance to shop it, you can still take advantage of their buy one, get one free offer.

I love this look for a date night or summer event. Unfortunately, ours have all been outdoors lately, and it’s so hot, I didn’t feel like I wanted to deal with the jumpsuit factor. Plus, the material on this one isn’t super breathable.

However, a black jumpsuit is a nice wardrobe piece to have. It’s pretty much the 2020 version of a LBD, so I linked up some other options below!

  1. Such a classy look:) and yes where do we go to wear all these adorable outfits? Lol. I’m sure the jumpsuit will be around for awhile yet, so if not this year maybe next?

  2. I use to shop at Talbots in my 20’s also. I’d get in line the day after Christmas to shop their huge sale. This jumpsuit is so dang cute on you!!! Have a great week! XOXO

  3. I love the jumpsuit on you, I’ve bought one this year as well and haven’t had a chance to wear it yet….but i’m thinking once we can travel again it will be a great piece to pack. You can dress them up or down so easily.

    1. I love the look of jumpsuits, but I wonder about the practicality. Sorry to get personal, but what do you do about going to the bathroom?

  4. I love that jumpsuit on you! Perfect shoes too. Church did seem so different but it was good to be among others.

  5. Wow! That outfit is a 10+! You look gorgeous! I can see how this jumpsuit could be a fun alternative to a LBD. Such a classy and stylish look. Happy belated 4th of July. We are having strange yet predictable weather here: sunny and warm mornings, thunderstorms, hail and odd tornado warning in late afternoon or evenings. We have had so much hail damage.

  6. You look so nice in this pretty jumpsuit!  And those sandals are fabulous.  I’m glad that you were able to have quality downtime yesterday after the very full week you had.  When I was growing up, I hated having to take naps or have quiet time.  Now, I love them both.  Have an awesome day!

  7. I love a jumpsuit! You look terrific, Jo-Lynne. Because I’m short waisted, It’s tricky getting the fit right with a jumpsuit, but I persevered and have one dressy, one casual and one in between in my closet. Check out Athleta’s Unbound jumpsuit. I love it and it’s on sale now. It does run a little big.

  8. I’m surprised you didn’t wear a long necklace to draw the eye downward since this has such a high neck.  Are “we” not doing that any more?  I understand that you wanted to wear the statement earrings and adding a necklace probably would have been too much.  Just curious why you didn’t choose a necklace for this column of black.

    1. Yeah, I’m not a big fan of the longer necklaces at the moment. Whenever I try them, it feels like a lot. Plus, I wanted to wear big earrings, and I really am not a fan of doing both.

  9. I love the jumpsuit on you…classy and fabulous!! Personally, I need sleeves on my tops so I’m glad to see this jumpsuit has sleeves – as do some of the others you linked. Thanks for that!

  10. So cute on you.  I hate when you get something cute and new and no place to wear it. 🙂  Someday.  Great piece to have in your closet for sure.  I have trouble with jumpsuits with my 5’3″ height. They always seem to hit at the wrong length. I like that this one had petites, but all the sizes are out. I’d need the size 2 if I usually wear size 4 in dresses there, like you said.  You gave a lot of other options I will check out.  Glad you had a great holiday week and weekend and got some down time yesterday. I still haven’t braved our small church services. Makes me nervous to be around so many, even in masks.  But……online not the same for sure.

  11. Cute jumpsuit but LOVE those wedges!! I’m all about snake print, it’s a fun change from leopard!  Also just a thought but with the low back neckline, it’d be really pretty to style your hair in an updo (even a twist and clip or low bun which is all I can manage!). Lol

  12.  Bought a jumpsuit in January ( cruise wear). It was so comfy that I wore it three times on the cruise and will wear it again, once I frequent restaurants. One step dressing. So easy! Your’s is cute & sexy. They can be casual enough to wear for drinks by the pool with friends. Just style with flat sandals.
