What I Wore Lately Vol. 103

I know it isn’t Wednesday, but I need another day to finish up my Spring/Summer Capsule Wardrobe, so I decided to go ahead and post What I Wore Lately a day early.

As is often the case, Spring weather has been a bit of a tease over here, and it feels more like March than May, but I’m still trying to dress seasonally. You’ll have to let me know how I did!

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

This first look harkens back to mid-April, and I took my daughter to get an iron infusion. I knew we’d be sitting for a while, and I wanted to be comfortable.

It was a blustery day, as I recall, and I wore this cozy hoodie with jeans and my P448 sneakers. I topped it off with my Z Supply quilted jacket, which is currently on sale.

I had a workout the next day, followed by a walk with friends and then a PT appointment that afternoon, so I wore a comfy joggers outfit.

And I guess it warmed up a bit that weekend, because I wore this outfit that Friday, after a morning photo shoot with Alison.

The next morning, I was up bright and early to fly to Boston for my cousin’s bridal shower. It was chilly, and I wore this cotton sweater with black jeans and leather espadrilles. My sweater is 30% off right now!

I topped it off with a beige trench sort of like this one, because I wanted a coat I could also put over my dress for the shower the next day.

Before I left, I tried on outfits for the shower. Knowing it was going to be chilly and rainy, I tried to find an outfit I could wear with my nude pumps. I find myself building most of my outfits around my limited footwear choices these days.

I wanted to wear a dress, but I thought I figured I’d be more comfortable in pants or jeans. Since my only pants are black, I tried white straight ankle jeans with a floral blouse and denim jacket, but I really didn’t want to wear a denim jacket to the bridal shower.

Plus this shorter, fitted style is starting to look dated to me. The darker wash seemed better for this outfit, but I prefer the fit of my lighter wash one these days.

As for my dress options, most are sleeveless, and I don’t really have an appropriate topper other than the denim jackets. I considered this tie waist slub knit dress, but I was afraid I’d be too cold in short sleeves.

Talbots eyelet yoke dress (Petite size M) // similar heels

This was my other option, which is what I ended up wearing, although I did bring the navy dress along just in case. The longer sleeves made since for the chilly weather, plus this dress just seemed more appropriate for the venue, which was a private room in an upscale steakhouse.

I wore the same black jeans and ivory and black sweater home on the plane after the shower, and Monday was a lazy day, although I did have a chiro appointment. I guess I forgot to snap a picture of my outfit, but I’m pretty sure it involved Vuori.

Tuesday was chilly and windy, but I was determined to wear spring clothes to my weekly Bible Study. I wanted to wear my MOTHER Rollers, and it was too chilly for sandals, so that basically left me with clogs, since I put all my boots away.

I topped them off with my trusty utility jacket over a white tee. Then I matched my belt and bag to my shoes, and I added silver jewelry since my belt buckle and the hardware on my jacket was silver.

I came home and did a bunch of try-ons and then threw on this comfy ‘fit to work from home for the rest of the day. FYI, this cute thermal pullover is on sale and fully stocked at Evereve; it runs true to size.

I threw on another comfy pullover and jeans and sneakers the next morning to take my daughter to her second iron infusion, and then to run a few errands that afternoon.

Milo in Maine pullover (M) // MOTHER Insider (29) (similar for less) // P448 John sneakers (39) // Lagos earrings // Lagos bracelets

I had several appointments the next day, so I brought my laptop along so I could stop at Starbucks and work in between.

KUT Jacqueline denim jacket (S) // Sundry JeT’aime tee (1) // Wit & Wisdom cargo pants (6) // YSL belt (budget option) // Miller sandals // similar tote

We had a jazz band event to attend that evening, and I changed into this new printed blouse and washed black jeans.

Treasure & Bond blouse (S) // Fidelity Cher (28) (similar for less) // similar espadrilles // similar handbag // Madewell earrings // Stella & Dot Rhett Cuff

This blouse has a really nice drape. I played around with tucking it and decided I like it so it’s a little higher in the middle and lower on the sides, so it curves a bit and doesn’t create a straight line right across my middle.

The next two days were rainy and chilly, and I wore this outfit both days. I know, so classy!

Vuori jacket c/o (S) // old Zella tee // Vuori joggers c/o (M) // On sneakers (8.5)

And then Sunday was another chilly, rainy day, but I was determined to dress for spring. Again, I dressed from my shoes up. I didn’t want to deal with heels, so my pumps and clogs were out, and I didn’t want to get my espadrilles or leather loafers wet, so I decided to wear ballet flats.

The leather on these is really durable, and the Seafoam green is fun for spring. This blouse has that same shade of green, so I added white jeans and a light wash denim jacket.

KUT Jacqueline denim jacket (S) // LOFT blouse (S) // Frame Le High ankle jeans (28) // YSL belt (budget option) // Tory Burch flats (8) // old hoops // necklace

As soon as I got home, I changed into softer jeans and a cozy hoodie. I had plans to visit with friends, so I put on sneakers instead of slippers.

Sundry pullover (1) // Mother Hustler (more sizes) (28) // P448 John sneakers // old hoops

And that brings us to yesterday. I had lunch plans with a friend, and I wanted to wear something new. The sun was shining, but it was windy and chilly, so I started out with this green LOFT sweater with white wide leg trouser jeans.

I love this color combo, but I just don’t care for the length of the sweater with these jeans. It’s not that the proportions aren’t in balance, but I feel like it comes too far down over those front patch pockets.

LOFT pointelle sweater (S) // Paige Leenah jeans (29) // Dolce Vita platform heels (7.5)

I played around with a front tuck, but I didn’t care for that either.

I could have changed jeans, but I really wanted to wear these, so I decided to try a shorter sweater.

This Quince cashmere tee is a nice look with these jeans, but I don’t love the grey with the sandy beige shoes, and I don’t have any other heels high enough to wear with these jeans unless I have them hemmed.

Quince cashmere tee (M) // Paige Leenah jeans (29) // Dolce Vita platform heels (7.5)

So then I grabbed that navy pointelle sweater from last week’s Try-On Haul, and I felt like the outfit suddenly came together. Navy and white is such a nice color combo for spring, and the sandy beige leather sandals are the perfect warm contrast to the cool blue and white.

Plus, the length of this sweater and the design of the squared-off neckline and short sleeves creates the perfect hourglass silhouette with the full length wide leg jeans. Next time, I’ll remember to wear a black bra!

Halogen sweater (S) // Paige Leenah jeans (29) // Dolce Vita platform heels (7.5) // Yurman earrings & bracelet // similar necklace

When I got home, I changed into another comfy outfit for the rest of the day. I did visit a friend for a quick snack before dinner, and I decided to wear these espadrille slides just because they make me happy! I love the neutral colors with ivory and denim, and I’m sick of wearing sneakers.

old 525 cable sweater (S) // MOTHER Insider (29) (similar for less) // Tory Burch slides (8)

And that’s that! It’s still chilly and windy here today, and it rained again in the night, but I think the sun is coming out. I tell ya, I’m so ready for warm weather. I know I shouldn’t complain when some of you all are getting snow, but I seriously think we need to move south after my daughter graduates high school. Who is having warm weather right now? That’s where I’m going! 🤪

  1. I like all your outfits but your away everyday travel bag caught my eye! Is it a new bag you are trying for travel purposes? How did it function?

    1. Yes, it is, and I love it. As much as I enjoy my totes, this is far more practical. It never slips off my suitcase. When I have it hanging over the handle, nothing falls out when I put it through security, and it’s more comfortable on the shoulder when I do carry it that way.

  2. It’s been cold in Chicago too! I got that Talbots sweater and the Loft sweater in all colors and I’m glad I did. They are my spring staples. Great recommendations!

  3. Have you tried your coated black denim as a topper? I wore one with a sleeveless dress to a shower this weekend and received a ton of compliments on my “pretty leather jacket”!

    1. No, I have it. Most of my dresses are lighter colors but that is definitely an idea. I need to see what I have and if I can make that work with something.

  4. So many pretty spring tops in this post – thank you for all the ideas! You look tan – it looks so good! I have been tempted to do a spray tan, but I have heard horror stories about it staining between fingers/toes and/or staining clothes. Can you share any tips for how you keep your tan looking so natural and how to avoid staining? Thanks!

    1. I’ve been getting spray tans, but honestly, I think self tanner is easier to manage. I like the overall effect, but it does get pretty ratchet around my feet and ankles.

      1. As always, thank you for your honest feedback! Would you please send a link to your favorite self tanner? (One that is easy enough for this rookie to not mess up. lol)

  5. Come to the Gulf coast! It’s perfect now. 64 and going to 79 today. Trust me, you would be wanting your Philly summer by July.😊

  6. Love the WHBM Godet dress on you! Beautiful colors and flattering fit and length. Perfect shoe choice, too! Really like the long flares also. Never have adjusted to the short length jeans with chewed hems & distressing.

    1. I love the look of long flares, too, but it’s a pain because you can’t wear the same ones with both flats and heels so shoe choices suddenly get more complicated

  7. I hear you on choosing outfits based on what shoes you want/need to wear. I think that’s why I struggle with dressing for spring more than any other season and it suddenly got more complicated with the new styles of pants and jeans. I love the fit and length of the Halogen ss sweater. I was debating ordering it because I need better tops to go with my wide-leg jeans and ones with porkchop or small front pockets like the Paige Leah. I love the look of the Everyday Bag. I ordered the same one but ended up with a different one in the end because it needed to be small enough to use under the seat for smaller European airlines like Ryan Air which have different size requirements. I’m keeping my eye out for a jean jacket that’s lighter weight and not so fitted. I ended up donating my shorter/tighter styles when I moved.

    1. Yeah, I should’ve added that. I was surprised it didn’t fit more neatly under the seat in front of me. I had to turn it on its side, which is no big deal, but I thought it would fit upright.

  8. Love all of your outfits. You always look so Pretty and put together. Have a Great Day!!⚘️

  9. I agree this cold weather has me pretty down. If we can avoid some rain for a couple days that will help. It looks like it might be a nice weekend though!

  10. So many great spring looks here. I just received the short-sleeved navy sweater and while it’s a little pricy, it fits so well I think I’m keeping it! Waiting to receive the WHBM dress and hope it’s a good option for our upcoming band banquet. And we’re having beautiful weather here in TX right now ☀️

  11. I think that you did a good job wearing spring colors while dressing appropriately for the cooler temps. We are getting up into the 70’s now, with the 80’s & possibly low 90’s moving back in by the weekend. Our mornings are pretty cool at the moment, which is fine by me. Good luck to Becca with the iron infusions.

  12. I was wondering if you would tell us how the 1822 cropped jeans compare to the Mother jeans in the same style? I saw you had them on in your previous try on haul, but you were under the gun and didn’t mention them. Thanks for all you do! I love your style inspiration!

  13. It was 85 here in Austin, TX yesterday! I do suggest visiting for at least a week in August before you decide to move. 🙂

  14. I like quite of things in this post. There were also some pieces I had seen earlier and forgot I liked them. I’m going to go back and order them. I loved the WHBM dress on you last week. I happened to be out furniture shopping and got to see it on another lady. It looked great on her, too. I’m larger than you both, so I don’t know if will look as good on me, but I’m going to give it a try!

  15. I am in North Carolina, and we have had warm/hot weather. Then we had a ton of rain! Now it is in the upper 60’s. We are hoping for at least 70’s so the garden will kick in. Not complaining, though. It will be hot hot soon enough.
I love your What I Wore Lately posts as I love to follow your thought process. I don’t put as much thought into an outfit, and I should.

  16. I hear you. I have similiar weather to you in NW Oregon. We got our first 70’s last week but other than those few warm days with one 80’s it’s been unseasonable cool and cloudy. I’m so ready for warm too. The cloudy weather gets to me. You did good on your dressing. Better than I’ve done for sure. I find myself for some reason wearing alot of light denim and black tops or pink tops. I need a new denim jacket but looking to get the light wash one. What do you think? I have the one you always had from Nordstrom for years before you just got this newer kut from Kloth one. I’d love a light wash recommendation. My smaller one is feeling dated too. I like it ok with dresses but feels like I need larger style for pants. I hope Becca is doing ok with her allergies. I think of her often and give up a prayer. PS. Do you think the Loft light wash denim jacket would be good?

  17. Threw me for a loop this morning when I saw “What I Wore Lately” in my inbox! I had to go check the day! 😂 Our spring down here in Southwest Louisiana has been rather mild. It’s been a nice change. Usually we get maybe 3 days of beautiful weather, then summer sets in with a vengeance. We are all enjoying it, knowing that the oppressive heat and humidity will be here soon. We have really good eating down here, though, so there is that!

  18. Really like the navy top with the white wide legs. We’re having warm weather this week in Texas. We had bad storms last week. It’s hasn’t been a hot spring like last year. I’m grateful for that. We’ve had both cool and warm days. I don’t complain about the cool days or rain because it’s going to end soon and then nothing but heat. This spring I finally got to wear my trench coat I bought last spring. I also got to wear my Loft cotton sweaters.

  19. Love all your outfits in this post. Was wondering which denim jacket would work best over a dress, the AG or KUT?
