What I Wore Lately Vol. 120

Hi there! I hope you’re enjoying the holidays. Ours has been quiet and relaxing, for the most part, which is nice after such a busy season for work and our family.

Speaking of busy, it’s hard to believe that it’s already time for another edition of What I Wore Lately! This is where I round up my everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

I’ve been wearing this sweater a lot lately; the bright colors make me happy! I really like it paired with these bootcut jeans in a medium blue wash. This shade of denim offsets the colors in the sweaters nicely, and the taupe booties keep the look light and breezy.

I added silver jewelry, which is in keeping with the bright, cool tones of the outfit. Silver is also trending right now, which makes this girl VERY happy. I’ve always preferred silver tones in my accessories. Evidently, these earrings are TikTok famous and keep selling out… who knew? I just thought they were pretty!

These TikTok-famous earrings have definitive drip (and a go-viral kind of flair). Whether you prefer them in silver or gold, this mini pair is pure molten-magic – so grab yours before they’re gone (again!!).

These jeans are a little short for these boots, but I don’t mind this combination. I feel like it actually looks more modern than the floor-grazing look. That works with a more relaxed leg, but with bootcuts and flares, I think I like the ankle-length look better.

Later that day, once I was home for good, I switched into my UGG minis so I’d be more comfortable working from home and making dinner.

I’ve graduated from PT, but I still see my chiropractor once a week for my “mouse arm”, as I call it. Despite my attempts to change my position and get up regularly, the many hours I spend at the computer still aggravate my right arm and shoulder.

This is what I wore to one of my recent appointments, and then I came home and walked the dog.

Gap vest (S) // Zella tee (S) // Athleta Balance Flare (S) // ON sneakers (9)

Paul and I went to the Capital Grille for our annual Christmas lunch date on that Friday before Christmas weekend, and I wore this staticky green blouse and black pants with black suede pumps and topped it off with my black wool coat.

This blouse is so pretty, but I was annoyed with the static, and I feel like the outfit looks really plain with the blouse untucked, but I don’t like tucking a top into pants without a button and belt loops.

I just think that looks awkward and unfinished, so I want to find a pair of pants similar to these, but with the ability to wear a belt so tucking my top would look more intentional. I’m adding those to my list of things to buy to round out my winter wardrobe.

LOFT blouse (S) // Vince pants (M) (similar for less) // Marc Fisher pumps (8) // Yurman earrings & necklace // YSL bag (similar for less) // not shown: black coat (S)

That night, we met friends for drinks at an upscale bar & grille type of joint, and I wore this all black outfit. (There was also a nap in the middle there!)

I topped it off with my faux fur jacket. I felt a little “extra” for a casual get together over drinks, but I figured, it’s the holidays! Might as well wear some of my pretty things.

I also used the opportunity to carry my olive green Loewe bag that I bought in Italy. It often seems too fussy for my everyday looks, so I try to carry it when I can, even though the other bag would have looked just fine with this outfit.

Sanctury faux fur jacket (S) // Treasure & Bond sweater (S) // Paige jeans – final sale (also at Nordstrom & Bloomies) (29) // Sam Edelman booties – on sale (8) // David Yurman necklace & earrings // Loewe Flamenco (similar for less)

Then it was back to life… back to reality! Jeans, sweater, and sneakers for a Saturday of errands and other mundane tasks.

Nordstrom Signature cardigan – on sale (S) // Splendid tank (S) // MOTHER Dazzler in Riding The Cliffside (29) (similar for less) // LØCI sneakers (39) // David Yurman necklaceearrings

I wore this familiar outfit to church that Sunday… Clearly, I was not feeling very creative with my jewelry. I just kept picking up the same earrings and necklace and putting them back on again.

Rails cardigan (S) // AG Mari in City View (29) (similar for less) // Vince booties (8) // David Yurmanearrings

This was just a Monday working from home. This collared sweater is from LOFT, and I’m so bummed it sold out because I love it, and now I feel bad wearing it because you can’t buy it.

The close-to-the-body fit with the short, not-quite-cropped length is perfect with today’s wider denim silhouettes; and it’s so soft, it feels almost like cashmere.

LOFT sweater (S) // MOTHER Fray Hem Bootcut Jeans in We The Animals (29) (similar for less) // similar P448 sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings // similar necklace // Michele watch

I decided to try these bootcut jeans with sneakers, and I think it works for a casual look. These MOTHER Weekenders have a 30 1/2″ inseam, according to the Nordstrom website. I haven’t measured, but that seems about right.

I tried them with some lower profile sneakers, and they were almost dragging on the ground, but they look okay with the P448 John.

Then, this is what I wore to see Beauty & The Beast at The Walnut Street Theatre in Philly on a Tuesday night.

I combined the woven sleeve v-neck pullover from my Talbots holiday post with the black velvet flares from Gap Factory, and I really like the look. I added black leather pointy toe booties and some festive jewelry.

These Kendra Scott earrings are a few years old, but I felt like they provided just the right amount of bling without being too formal.

Talbots woven sleeve v-neck pullover c/o (S) // Gap Factory velvet pants (29) // Marc Fisher boots (8) // YSL bag (similar for less) // Yurman necklace // Kendra Scott earrings

I know people are dressing more casually for the theater these days, so I was pushing it when I added my faux fur jacket, but I figured, what the heck!? It’s Christmas!

I typically prefer not to be overdressed in social situations, but I figured in this case, I could live with it. I didn’t think I would look too terribly out of place for an evening show at Christmastime, but I was sorely mistaken.

Sanctuary faux fur jacket (S) // Talbots woven sleeve v-neck pullover c/o (S) // Gap Factory velvet pants (29) // Marc Fisher boots (8) // YSL bag (similar for less) // Yurman necklace // Kendra Scott earrings

I was shocked by how incredibly overdressed I felt in velvet pants and a faux fur jacket. So many people were in blue jeans and sneakers or casual boots, I even saw someone in flip flops… What is happening??? If you can’t dress up to go to the theater at Christmastime without looking out of place, we might as well give up as a society. LOL!

I truly do not spend a lot of time judging how people dress, but I do find it interesting to observe, mostly so I know how I want to dress to fit in, and I was truly shocked by what I saw.

Anyway! Moving on…

I wore this next look to Bible Study last week. I hear darker denim washes are coming back, and as much as I like the laid-back vibe of light wash denim, I’m ready for a change, and I feel like these are a nice transitional shade.

Also, these boots are marked waaaaay down. They’re still splurgy, even on sale, but Nordstrom Rack just reduced them an additional 25%, bringing them down to $250 from $520. They’re so, so comfortable. I wore them all over the mall yesterday. They’re perfect when you want a casual heel that’s walkable.

Sundry sweater (1) // similar Paige Laurel Canyon (29) // Paul Green boots – $253 down from $520 (8) // Yurman bracelet

And then, I wore this casual neutral look to run some errands after a photo shoot last Wednesday. I had these jeans shortened, but I fear I shortened them too much. Ooops! They’re technically a “skinny jean” but not the legging ankle jeans or yore. This is the modern version of a skinny, at least, to my eye.

Rails jacket (S) (similar for less) // cashmere sweater in brown taupe – on sale! (S) // PAIGE Gemma in Black Lotus (29) // Vince sneakers (8) // Jenny Bird earrings

I wore that same Sundry fair isle sweater with light wash straight ankle jeans and sneakers to go to the high school holiday concert last week. I like how the white sneakers relate to the white in the sweater, and how the whole look is super casual yet festive.

Sundry sweater (1) // MOTHER Dazzler in Riding The Cliffside (29) (similar for less) // P448 Manza sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings // David Yurman bracelet

Here’s another one of my Pilates workout outfits that I’ve had on repeat.

Vuori Canyon jacket c/o (S) // Athleta tank (M) // Elevation Leggings (M) // On Cloud sneakers (9)

And then I threw on the Sundry stripe sweater with the bootcut jeans and sneakers again to go get a manicure and run a few errands one day last week.

Sundry sweater (1) // MOTHER Fray Hem Bootcut Jeans in We The Animals (29) (similar for less) // similar P448 sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings

I changed into booties to meet a friend for a casual dinner that night. I wasn’t feeling up to an entire outfit change, and the quick shoe swap seemed to do the trick, although I think I prefer the taupe booties that I wore with this outfit the week before (pictured at the top of this post). They’re just a smidge dressier, due to the shape of the toe, and also the color.

Sundry sweater (1) // MOTHER Fray Hem Bootcut Jeans in We The Animals (29) (similar for less) // similar Aquatalia boots // Jenny Bird earrings

This next look is another repeat outfit. I wore this last Friday to run errands, and I had a hair appointment. It was probably not the best choice of sweater to wear to get my hair colored, but fortunately nothing bad happened to it!

Nordstrom Signature cardigan – on sale (S) // Splendid tank (S) // MOTHER Dazzler in Riding The Cliffside (29) (similar for less) // LØCI sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings

Then it was back into my green sweater for Christmas Eve Eve (last Saturday). I think I ran errands, I can’t really remember. I know we didn’t do much that night.

Sundry Fair Isle Sweater (1) // MOTHER Fray Hem Bootcut Jeans in We The Animals (29) (similar for less) // similar Aquatalia boots // Jenny Bird earrings

I wore this dress to church on Christmas Eve, and then out to a sushi dinner afterwards with a big group of extended family and friends. I’ve had this since a Nordstrom collab a couple months back, and finally got a chance to wear it! It was kind of rainy, so the waterproof Blondo boots came in handy.

And this is what I wore on Christmas Day. I just wanted to be comfortable, since we were home all day, but still look nice enough for pictures. This sweater is old, but I absolutely love it. I wish they’d bring it back!

old Naadam sweater // MOTHER Dazzler in Riding The Cliffside (29) (similar for less) // similar loafer mules // Anthro earrings

Finally, yesterday Paul and I ran to the mall for a few things. This Treasure & Bond jacket is on sale, by the way! I love how it pairs with the brown taupe sweater.

And that’s a wrap!

  1. I think you looked fabulous & perfectly appropriate for evening theater. I wish people would still dress up a little for those events.

  2. I have noticed the dress code for funerals has really changed as well. I see so many people in jeans which is so strange to me since I was not raised that way. My husband will still wear a suit to a funeral and sometimes he is the only one in a suit. Side note, your hair is getting so long, it’s looks great. Happy New Year !

  3. I love the stripe sweater with Mother jeans and the taupe booties. It all goes together very well. How you dressed for the theater is exactly how I would have. You were not overdressed, the others wearing blue jeans, sneakers and flip flops were underdressed. Let’s flip the narrative and bring dress up a level, not down a level (or two or three).

  4. Love this post! I do wish people would dress a little better when they go out. Some of the things you see are unbelievable. All of your outfits are so appropriate and I love your color combinations. I am short, so I really have to watch my proportions. I love the green dress. I looked for a knit dress for Christmas and was afraid I would be able to see all of my bumps and bulges. So I never got one. Anyway, have a great day and thank you for all the hard work you put into this blog. Hope you and your family have a Wonderful, Heathy, Safe and Happy 2024!❤️🎉

  5. I am meeting some people out tomorrow night and I plan on wearing my Treasure & Bond jacket with a taupe sweater. Thanks for the idea!

  6. I think it’s wonderful that you felt the theatre was a worthy place to dress up for! I, personally, feel we’ve somehow lost the idea that some occasions are totally worth a little effort. Seems I don’t even see much elevated casual. Way too much sloppy sweatshirts, huge tees and sloppy bottoms.

  7. Just wanted to say how stunning your Loewe handbag is. I just love it! I think I have the grey version of the Naadam sweater, and I feel the same way about it. I wish I’d bought the tan one too, and I rarely buy duplicates.

  8. I agree with Kelly’s comment about the theatre! I have seen shows there several times and the theatre itself deserves us dressing up somewhat! I would’ve worn an outfit similar to yours and would’ve been very happy to be “overdressed”!! Enjoy your company today, I love this Christmas week full of friends, family and fun adventures we couldn’t fit in before Christmas!! I’m going to the movies this afternoon and plan to wear my black velvet jeans! HA!!!

  9. Hi, I think your theater outfit was spot on. We saw Lion King at the San Francisco Orpheum theater in November, and the majority were dressed up with lots of sequins, velvets, satins, and cashmere BUT those who weren’t, were Uber casual. I don’t judge but I think they’re missing out!!! Dressing for an occasion is part of the anticipational fun as it marks the occasion as extraordinary. It sets apart the mundane from the memorable, making a little effort totally worth it.

    1. Well said Nancy! I think getting dressed for a special event is half the fun! Not only do I enjoy planning my outfit, but I enjoy feeling a little fancy while wearing it! I also try not to be overdressed but tend to err on that side vs being underdressed. I’d rather be the best dressed one!

    2. This! I also feel it’s disrespectful to the performers. I refuse to dress down just because everyone else does. I commonly wear cocktail dresses (or dressy suits) and heels to the theater and other “special events”. If everyone tries to match how dressed down everyone else is, the situation will just get worse and worse. 🙁

    3. I don’t judge but I think they’re missing out!!! Dressing for an occasion is part of the anticipational fun as it marks the occasion as extraordinary. It sets apart the mundane from the memorable, making a little effort totally worth it.

Yes, this is how I feel exactly. Not trying to pass judgement, but it’s fun to dress up sometimes. And it’s more fun if you’re not the only one, haha!

  10. Another vote for dressing up for certain things like the theater, especially at Christmas time! Your outfit was perfect. Those sneakers you’re wearing with the Sundry striped sweater and the sold-out Loft one make your feet look tiny! 🙂

  11. I don’t think you hemmed the black jeans too much. I don’t like straight or modern skinnies too long.
I love the green dress you wore Christmas Eve.

  12. Most people don’t dress up to fly anymore either but if I’m flying domestic I dress business casual. The flight attendants seem to,appreciate it.

    1. I feel like people are trying to outdo each other in trying to look homeless at the airport. I also dress nicely (comparable to what I’m wearing where I’m going) when traveling.

  13. I agree about our sloppy society! I was at an upscale mall the week before Christmas and I couldn’t believe the people wearing slippers and pajama pants! It was 3pm. I was embarrassed when I dropped my son off at early morning practice in my pajamas! I’m 60 and it looks as though these peoples lives are in shambles ! Go ahead label me a “boomer” at least it looks like I have it together even if I don’t!

  14. I think your choice of outfit for the theater was spot on! Since my lifestyle is more causal and I work from home I love an opportunity to dress up ! I think it must have been on a hallmark movie I was watching and the comment was made better to be overdressed than underdressed! I also agree on the length of the black jeans! A little ankle showing is nice!!

  15. Please keep dressing up for social situations where people should dress up. Perhaps if people see that there are people who still dress up, then they will get the hint. I dislike how casual people have gotten with dressing at weddings, funerals, theatres, and other events that call for more than jeans, sweatshirts, etc… Flip flops in PA in December? That is crazy!!!

    1. To be fair, maybe this person has a foot injury or something… I didn’t mean to sound judgy, but it was a cold night, so they definitely stood out among all the sneakers and boots.

  16. Maybe I’m out of touch here and don’t know it, but I think those Vince black pants would look great with the top tucked in. I’m assuming they have a flat front? (Couldn’t tell in your pics or the website). I agree that if they had belt loops it would look sloppy without a belt. But I think a flat front actually looks dressier and more polished. Idk why but I feel like belts make it more casual. But full disclosure I haven’t worn one in years. To each their own, but I think you’d look put together without it (provided there’s no empty loops!)

    1. Yes, they have a flat front. I don’t like the front tuck with the flat front; I think it looks weird. I can see how a full tuck might look fine, but I don’t full tuck anything, especially not these pants. The rise is too low. I don’t mind it looking slightly more casual, and I do have a dressy belt I would have worn. Anyway! I will be curious to try. Maybe I can try both and compare and take pictures. 🙂

  17. I love what you wore! Love how much you wore the green sweater and LOVE that cardigan, wish I could wear cashmere. And….everyone else was underdressed for the theater! 😂

  18. My husband and I support our local Philharmonic Orchestra (Louisiana) and attend many concerts throughout the year. We dress nicely for every one of the concerts…but we dress especially nice for the holiday events. I typically wear something with sequins, sparkles, or fur and my husband wears a suit. Most people dress up but we do see some casual outfits. Nonetheless, I will always dress up. It gives me the opportunity to wear all the fun, festive items that are basically only worn at holiday time. And I think you were very appropriately dresses and looked great, Jo-Lynne!

  19. What do you do for static with shirts? I usually only buy knits now but limits my options. I’ve tried static guard spray (at home and at work) but the static comes back with movement. I’ve given up so would like to hear other suggestions to manage. thanks

      1. I need to try the dryer sheet trick. I’ve hear that before. I have Static Guard, which I use sometimes, but I was running late ad didn’t have time to find it. It eventually settled down, but I felt self conscious about it, which is never a fun feeling.

        1. I’ve actually never tried Static Guard so I can’t compare. But I do like that it’s easy to keep a dryer sheet in the pocket of my purse, so it’s easy to run to the bathroom and fix the problem.

  20. Hi Jo-Lynne
I really like seeing things on you better than stock photos. Thank you for all you do! I loved the sundry stripe sweater on you not the model I would not buy it. Seeing it on you I wanted it. However it is sold out!!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR AHEAD!!!

God bless you and your family!!

  21. I have no problem being the most dressed-up one for most things. Ever since I did my big wardrobe overhaul several months ago, I’ve been reserving sneakers and t-shirts for the most casual days at home. For going anywhere other than to run errands, I try to wear a real top/sweater and real (leather) boots or shoes. This often results in me being slightly more dressed up than anyone else in the group — particularly here in the Bay Area visiting my partner’s family, where everyone is in sneakers and sweatshirts — but I’m ok with that. Always love these posts!

  22. I love fashion and stylish clothes and used to buy a lot of them, and then, they would sit in the closet unworn because I saw the people around me dressed VERY casually (read “not really trying”). Like you, I was afraid of not fitting in. Finally, I realized that if I was waiting for that “special occasion” to wear them, I would never wear any of those cute things at all! What’s wrong with being noticed, especially when it’s because you look attractive and put together? I bought those clothes in the first place because they made me feel happy and attractive when I tried them on in the dressing room. Why couldn’t I allow myself to feel that way in public too? In the end, it’s not as much about fitting in with those around you as being true to your own personal style, even if it’s just while running errands or picking the kids up from school. And there is certainly nothing wrong with dressing up for an evening out, even if other people aren’t, as long as you feel beautiful and confident in what you are wearing. It seems to me that the outfit you wore to the theater was just an elevated version of the outfit formula you love the most and you rocked it! You have too many beautiful items of clothing to let them languish in your closet. So what if you turn a few heads? Let yourself enjoy it!

  23. I was told Walnut Street Theater is the more casual, family friendly theater. I have been to the Academy (Swan Lake) and Kimmel (Orchestra) and people are in business dress. Depends where you are and what you are seeing.

    1. Yes, that is true. I have been to both Walnut and the Academy many times. I knew it was on the more casual side, but I still thought at Christmastime I’d see more of a mix.

Anyway! I didn’t mean for my comments to create such a stir. I just thought it was an interesting observation, and I was trying to be funny when I said we might as well give up as a society. 🙂 I really am not one to sit in judgement of how people dress, but I do get asked often about what to wear to certain events, so I thought it was relevant to share my observations.

  24. I have had the same/similar mouse issues as you (pain in my shoulder) and a friend recommended something that has been like a miracle healing! I now use a track ball mouse – and no more pain!! Comes cordless or corded and a vairety of brands. You can get in on Amazon (of course) or office supply stores, etc. I urge you to try it!!

    And Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks! I did get the vertical kind, but I often forget to use it. I have taken to doing more work on my laptop to get away from the desk, which seems to help, but now my back and neck are jacked, lol. I can’t win!

      1. Maybe a standing desk? This is my husband’s business (office furniture) and the standing desks are popular and supposed to be better for you.

  25. You mentioned PT and it reminded me to ask you about your plantar fasciitis journey. I wonder if you’d be willing to share? I have it right now and nothing seems to be helping so I thought I’d ask what finally helped you? Happy New Year!

    1. I don’t have a magic cure. It went away when I was on “bed rest” due to a stress fracture and then a torn tendon in my other foot. Once I was dong healing from those injuries, the PF was gone too!

    2. I had issues so badly I couldn’t walk normally. Finally through PT I found a solution for me. Hopefully it works for you. My issue turned out to be tight calf muscles. I do toe raises slowly with my knee bent about 45 degrees (and other foot off the floor, fingers resting on countertop for balance). After about 20 of those I do a calf stretch leaning into the counter (or wall) with my knee still bent. It has done wonders. Good luck!

  26. Love that sweater dress on you, the color is beautiful and I do not have a Naadam sweater but wish that one was available as the style is so perfect.
I agree with your choice for the theater, the last symphony I went to was at Christmas and everyone was dressed up nice and made it feel the more festive. I do feel people would dress for the occasion. The most recent funerals my husband and I attended some wore jeans and such and my husband even commented on that and he is one that does not like dressing up unless he has to but we were brought up to dress appropriately and with respect.

  27. Hello! Fun post!

I ordered the Gap faux fur and the Sanctuary Going Out after seeing you style them….and both are SUPER cute. I’m thinking about just keeping the Sanctuary one. Just wondering if you kept both for different occasions?

    1. No, I returned the Gap Factory one b/c I have an older one from Bernardo. Then I realized my Bernardo one was longer and not as on-trend as the Gap Factory, and I really wanted the cropped length for my outfits this year. I was going to re-order the Gap one and by then it was gone in my size. SO I found this one. 🙂 They are similar, both very good.

  28. How about a little love for the broke, exhausted parents who were just thrilled to get the family out of the house for some quality time at a Disney musical over a busy holiday.

  29. I like the bootleg jeans with sneakers. I like the Loft sweater on your complexion. It’s funny but the only time I dress all black is when I get my hair colored like today. I think you looked so sharp in the velvet pants and black fur jacket. I agree with you about how people dress nowadays. From what I hear on YouTube videos it’s more of an American thing even though we’re rubbing off on some Europeans. One blogger that lived in Spain for a year said everyone dresses decent when they go out. No athletic wear in public. She said even the kids dressed nice. They wear jeans and sneakers but in a tasteful way like you do. It’s sad to see so many overweight young people. When I was a teenager in the 70s all the kids were skinny. A couple might have been a little chubby but that was it. I’m not judging just stating facts. I know part of it is the processed food and GMOs.

  30. I agree about the sloppy dress of so many people now in restaurants and theater. Worn faded tee shirts . Misfitting pants. And men and boys in ball caps. No pride in appearance and the manners match. Ok I’m thru and down off my soap box. Your clothing choices are right in. Love the green dress.

  31. Great post! So fun to see all the outfits and coordinating accessories. I have had my eye on the Yurman hoops but I fear they will be too heavy. How are they comfort wise?
    Happy New Year!

  32. Your assessment of proper dress is spot on.
I saw a 50 year old man get out of his $80,000. vehicle to go into a resurant IN HIS PAJAMAS!!!!!
Complete with slippers!!! My girlfriend & I were out for our weekly lunch, and though he must be getting take out or something but nope sat down at the bar and ordered. We left
And don’t get me started on flip flops!!!!
I think it shows great disrespect for others, and especially yourself.
My Mom always said “better to be overdressed than underdressed”
    What’s next…boxer shorts ( I mean they are “shorts”) ??? yikes

  33. Loved seeing your Loewe bag. You should use it more often. My husband and I often despair over the way people dress for the theater. We feel that it is a sign of respect to the actors and crew (not to mention ourselves) to give them our best. Merry Christmas and love to your family.

  34. I also have been experimenting with bootcut jeans and sneakers. I think it works! As you say, Jo-Lynne, the eye adjusts.

  35. I’m all for comfort, but sloppiness and inappropriateness is a totally different story!
I love to dress up! I typically wear whatever I want to wear. Sometimes even my friends will say why you so dressed up, when in reality I’m not dressed up. My answer is always the same, “This is what I wanted to wear today”.

  36. I also noticed that a lot of people were dressed casually in sneakers and sweats when I went to see the Nutcracker at the Academy of Music. I love dressing up and enjoy planning and putting together outfits for events. It makes me feel good about myself. The icing on the cake is when you’re at an event and someone compliments your outfit/style! Also, dressing up can have its perks like getting upgraded to first class in flights and just getting more attentive service from restaurants to shops.

  37. I agree about the dress code situation. Last Christmas (2022), my husband, daughter, and I went to a Nutcracker performance by a Russian ballet troupe. I felt dressing up was justified, but we all noticed how casual the other folks were and how rowdy the crowd was – almost like a sporting event with people up & down throughout. I thought it was sad! I use those occasions as an excuse to dress up because my lifestyle is so casual otherwise. 🙂

    Love your blog as always

  38. Can I just say I love your style!?! I’m 36, 5’5, size10/12, and follow quite a few on Instagram around my age. But my gosh, they all want to wear skin tight and show everything off, or their style is too “preppy” for me. Now your outfits, I can totally get behind and very similar to what I already wear. Thanks for having realistic outfits, lol.
