I spent the past two weeks in Florida—Sarasota, to be exact! I shared what I packed last week, and today I’m sharing (almost) everything I wore. With lots of beach and pool time, casual dinners, and shopping in St. Armands Circle and downtown Sarasota, I leaned heavily on easy, lightweight pieces that could be styled a few different ways.

Since there are a lot of outfits to share, I’m going to try to keep the commentary brief… we’ll see how I do! I’ll also share where we ate and what we did along the way, in case you’re looking for Sarasota recommendations.
All My Outfits, Plus Where We Ate and What We Did in Sarasota
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and typically wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8.5 shoe. I often fall between sizes these days, so fit notes matter.
I always try to wear my heaviest pieces when I travel, so I went with wide-leg jeans (these have a fun twisted outseam and raw hem, so they still feel light and summery), a super soft jean jacket in a soft stone color, a white tee, and my athletic sneakers. We did quite a bit of walking on this trip, so I was glad I had them, even if they aren’t the most stylish option for travel day.

We wasted no time after checking into Lido Beach Resort—once our room was ready, we changed into swimsuits and headed straight to the pool.
This is the only official cover-up I brought, so I wore it a lot (I finally stopped taking photos because they all started to look the same!). My straw tote and TKEES flip flops also came with me to the pool or beach pretty much every time.

That night, we walked down to St. Armands Circle for dinner at Columbia Restaurant. I love how the starfish necklace and beaded bracelet add a fun vacation vibe to this versatile little black dress.
I carried my raffia bag with leather trim to coordinate with my saddle leather sandals with a molded footbed. I prefer my gold flat strappy sandals with this dress, but I wanted to make sure I was comfortable for all the walking.

Tommy Bahama Darcy V-Neck Dress (M) // Dolce Vita sandals (8) // Electric Picks Starfish Necklace // Beaded Stretch Bracelets // YSL sunnies // similar bag
I wore this Splendid SunSoft set quite a bit during the trip. It’s a little more pulled together than pajamas—perfect for grabbing coffee at the resort or relaxing at our Airbnb with family in the mornings and evenings.

We decided to try the beach at our resort the next day, and I threw a linen tank and jean shorts on over my swimsuit for a little variety. I like this option because I can just pull on the shorts when I need to run to the restroom, instead of tugging a cover-up or tee off over my head with a one-piece.

For dinner our second night, we went into downtown Sarasota and ate at Duval’s. I pulled out my white jeans and this cable cashmere sweater vest from last summer’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I was excited to wear it again. I originally thought of it as more of a fall piece, but it works just as well for spring.
I love how these embellished thong flip flops coordinate with the look—they’re like jewelry for the feet! I also wore fun chain-link earrings for a coastal vibe and carried my straw clutch.

The next day, I wore this textured dress over my swimsuit to the pool.
Fit note: I’m wearing a size L in the DD+ option, and you can use code JOLYNNE15 for 15% off your Stylest order.

We walked down to St. Armands Circle for dinner again that night and tried the pizza at Venezia. It was so good, we ended up going back two more times during our trip! I went with a long-sleeve top and shorts for the casual vibe.
This Frank & Eileen t-shirt cardigan is such a fun piece, with a boxy silhouette and raw-edge hem, and these cargo-inspired shorts are really stretchy and comfortable but never look creased or rumpled. I got a lot of wear out of them on this trip. Sadly, I stained the cardigan with lipstick somehow, and it didn’t come out in the wash, so I’m going to try treating it when I get home. That’s why you don’t see it again after this.

Another pool day…

For our last dinner at Lido Beach Resort, we made sunset reservations at The Drift—the view was amazing. I wore this linen shift with my straw/raffia kitten-heel sandals and carried my straw clutch since it all coordinated so well.

I also brought this linen tank and cargo pants to wear in the mornings while working in the lobby, or whenever I wanted to be comfy. Sadly my exact pants sold out, but I linked similar, and both are on sale at Athleta.

The next day, we packed up, checked out of Lido Beach Resort, and picked the girls up at the airport. We grabbed lunch in downtown Sarasota before heading to our Airbnb for the week, where some of our extended family joined us. I wore a casual sleeveless button-up with olive cargo shorts and embellished thong sandals.

I changed into jeans for a casual dinner at Cha Cha Coconuts that night, since the evenings were still quite mild. (Our Airbnb was right off St. Armands Circle, so we didn’t have to walk far—but I still opted for a more walkable sandal, just in case!) I added a set of bangles from Anthro to dress it up a bit, and I like how the woven bag coordinates with the outfit. It’s also a great hands-free option for walking around town.

The next day, we headed down to Lido Beach to soak up some sun and sand, and I was back in my Amazon knit cover-up and STYLEST swimsuit.

We had reservations at Columbia again that night, this time with our family. I started to wear this pink top with white shorts that I put on after the beach.

When I saw everyone else was dressed a bit nicer, I changed at the last minute into white jeans and added a belt, as well a denim jacket in case it got chilly.

The next day was another beach day, and I opted for jean shorts and a ribbed tank over my swimsuit.

I threw on this graphic tee and white shorts to hang out at the house afterwards, and we may have wandered down to the shops, I don’t remember.

That night, we drove out to Longboat Key for dinner at Shore. It’s right on the water, and the setting was beautiful. (The food was delicious, too.) I wore this black dress again, this time with my raffia kitten-heel sandals.

Tommy Bahama Darcy Sheath Dress (M) // Dolce Vita Camille (8) // J.Crew clutch // J.Crew earrings // starfish pendant // beaded bracelet
At the last minute, I thought it might get chilly on the water, so I brought along my short-sleeve denim jacket, but I didn’t end up wearing it because my girls claimed it and traded it back and forth all night. I prefer the dress without it, but it works in a pinch.

KUT Piper Jacket (S) // Tommy Bahama Darcy Sheath Dress (M) // Dolce Vita Camille (8) // J.Crew clutch // J.Crew earrings // starfish pendant // beaded bracelet
I wore this outfit again the next day to take Becca to the airport and then do some work from the house. The rest of our crew went to the beach, but Paul and I decided to take a break. I spent the day working and enjoying our spot on the canal. I re-wore the black Free People tank and Paige cargo shorts.

I changed into a white t-shirt and jeans to walk down to Lido Beach Resort that night for a casual dinner at their Gulf-front tiki bar. The food is so good, we actually went back a few times for lunch during the week since it was within walking distance of our Airbnb. Afterwards, we walked home along the beach and enjoyed the sunset.

Paul and I stayed back at the house the next day to work while some of our group explored a new beach to the south. We took the afternoon off and walked into St. Armands Circle for lunch—back to Venezia! We wanted to take Caroline since she loves pizza. She was duly impressed! Afterwards, she and I browsed the shops.

We all went into downtown Sarasota that night for dinner at 1592 Wood Fired Kitchen, which was excellent. I had picked up this Lilla P tank in one of the shops at St. Armands that afternoon and wore it with my white jeans. I just love an easy outfit like this. It’s such a simple look, but the quality of both pieces is outstanding—the slub texture of the tank gives it a really elevated feel.
I added a gold and pearl fish-themed charm necklace, double hoop earrings, and my beaded stretch bracelet set in shades of green and blue. The gold sandals keep it casual but elevated, the raffia bag adds warmth and texture, and the short-sleeve denim jacket was the perfect light layer for dinner.
Also, you can’t underestimate the power of a great pair of sunglasses. These were a splurge, but I’ve worn them a ton already and plan to have them for years.

The next day, we all drove down to North Jetty Beach for a change of scenery. It felt more local and was definitely less crowded than Lido Beach, and we really enjoyed it. I wore this navy dress as a cover-up again and went with a tankini this time, which made bathroom trips much easier.

EVEREVE Mary Textured Dress (M) // similar tankini top & bottoms // Dolce Vita sandals (8) // Eric Javits Hat // similar tote // Tom Ford sunnies // Quince hoops
After I showered off, I wore the same dress to dinner with my gold sandals and raffia shoulder bag. Everyone did their own thing that night, and Paul and I went to Café on St. Armands. We were pleasantly surprised by the live music. There’s live music all over St. Armands, but these two were particularly fun and talented. We sat on the porch, lingered over drinks, and enjoyed the music and the atmosphere.

The next morning, Paul and I set out to walk across the bridge into downtown Sarasota. He got a few photos before I started having a bit of a sugar crash. I’d treated myself to a rare breakfast pastry and probably didn’t drink enough water. Plus, it was hot and full sun, and I started feeling weak and shaky, so we never made it across. Oh well, maybe next time!

Athleta tank (M) // similar Vuori shorts (M) // ON Cloud 6 (9) // Clare V Grande Belt Bag // YSL sunnies // Quince hoops
We eventually made it down to the beach for a few hours after I was feeling better. I didn’t bother taking a photo because they were all starting to look the same.
Afterwards, I threw on a graphic tee and jean shorts to go shopping with the women in St. Armands. We all ended up buying a piece of jewelry at The Landing Company from their Laguna Key collection. The turquoise and faceted clear quartz is so pretty—it looks just like the Gulf water. I chose this ring, and I love it. It’s such a fun memento of this trip.

Rookie Mistake tee (L) // Gap Factory denim shorts (29 // Dolce Vita sandals (8) // Clare V Grande Belt Bag // Quince hoops // YSL sunnies
For our last night with our family, we all went to The Café on St.Armands, and it was another lovely night to dine outside. I wore this outfit again, since I hadn’t worn it with my family the first time. I wore my new ring and added the Rodan Pearl Earrings in Tigre for a fun statement. I also added this fun nautical charm bracelet, that is sadly sold out. It’s so fun for the beach.

PAIGE Syrie Top (M) // PAIGE Mason (30) // Dolce Vita Cely Sandals (8) // Lizzie Fortunato earrings c/o // J.Crew clutch // J.Crew Nautical charm bracelet // Laguna Sea Pebble Ring
Last Saturday was another moving day. We checked out of our Airbnb and said our good-byes. Paul and I had some time to kill before we could check into The Resort at Longboat Key Club, so we drove up to Anna Maria Island to check it out. I wore my Anessa Twisted wide leg jeans and new black tank.

Lilli P tank (M) // PAIGE Anessa Twisted (30) // TKEES flip flops c/o (8) // Quince hoops // Bryan Anthonys Sea Seeker Pendant & You Are My Sunshine Icon Necklace c/o – 20% off with JOLYNNE20 // Laguna Sea Pebble Ring
After some pool time at the hotel, Paul and I drove over to the St. Regis, which is next door, and had dinner at their stunning St. Regis Bar. There’s also an outdoor bar right on the water with sunset views. I did step outside to take it in, but we ended up enjoying being inside with the live jazz band and air conditioning, since it was quite humid. I wore the black dress again, with the raffia kitten heel sandals and straw clutch.

Tommy Bahama Darcy Sheath (M) // Dolce Vita Camille (8) // J.Crew clutch // Bryan Anthonys Sea Seeker Pendant & You Are My Sunshine Icon Necklace c/o – 20% off with JOLYNNE20 // Lele Sadoughi bracelet // Lizzie Fortunato earrings c/o
We had brunch at our resort on Sunday morning, and then we went to church. I meant to change into nicer sandals, but we ended up running late due to a maintenance issue in our room (which was quickly fixed, but it did derail our timing a bit), so I just went like this.

EVEREVE Mary Textured Dress (M) // TKEES flip flops (8) c/o // J.Crew clutch // J.Crew earrings // Tom Ford sunnies
We spent some time at the pool that afternoon, then showered and changed for dinner in downtown Sarasota. We wanted to go back to KOJO since we enjoyed it so much last year.

LNA Dessa Muscle Tee (S) // KUT Piper (S) // PAIGE Mason (30) // Kaanas sandals (8) // Jenny Bird earrings // starfish pendant // Boho Bangle Set // YSL sunnies // similar bag
I threw on this casual outfit the next day to work and take a Zoom call, and we ended up walking around the property.

Madewell tank (M) // Vineyard Vines shorts (10) // Dolce Vita sandals (8) // Jenny Bird earrings // YSL sunnies
We had dinner that night at the Tommy Bahama restaurant, which was very good. I was starting to get bored with my outfits, so I put together this all-white look with brown accessories.
I added fun jewelry, including the beaded fish necklace, woven chain-link earrings, and a nautical charm bracelet, and I brought along the short-sleeve denim jacket, which I was glad to have when it started pouring rain on our way to the restaurant!

We spent our last full day in Florida on the beach at our resort on Longboat Key. It was beautiful—so peaceful and quiet compared to Lido. We went back to St. Armands for our final dinner, ate at Venezia one last time, and finished the night with ice cream at Kilwins.

Free People tank (L) // PAIGE Olivia Cargo Shorts (30) // Dolce Vita sandals (8) // Clare V Grande Belt Bag // Jenny Bird earrings // Bryan Anthonys Sea Seeker Pendant & You Are My Sunshine Icon Necklace c/o – 20% off with JOLYNNE20 // beaded bracelets // YSL sunnies
We had planned to go down to the beach to watch the sunset one last time, but we ended up staying in our room to work and pack. I sat out on the balcony while the sun went down and worked on this post—I knew it would never get finished if I didn’t start it last night. Also, huge kudos to my assistant, Amy, for linking up all these outfits!
Today, we’re headed home, and I plan to wear the same outfit I traveled down in. The Splendid lounge jacket didn’t get as much use as I anticipated, but it’s nice for the plane. In hindsight, the Quince linen jacket might have been a better choice—maybe a bit more versatile with these ultra-summer looks—but everything still came together.
All in all, I feel like my packing worked out really well. Having laundry at our Airbnb definitely helped, and I was able to make everything stretch further by mixing and matching pieces.
If I’d packed a larger suitcase, I probably would have added a few more casual dresses, since I ended up wearing my white jeans a lot. I also could have used a lightweight sweater to throw over my shoulders on cooler nights, but my short-sleeve denim jacket did the job. My blue jeans worked for ultra-casual outfits, though I think I would have enjoyed having a slightly more elevated pair in the mix. I had enough tops—even with a few repeats—and overall, I felt like everything came together really nicely.

I see you mentioned bathroom tricks a couple of times and making them easier with two piece suits or jean short coverups. Years ago I read to just pull your suit to the side for bathroom trips…..it works. Its quick, its easy and especially helpful when the suit is wet. You dont pee all over everything and it’s just so much easier than pulling the whole thing down, especially when you are out and at a public restroom. Just my psa for the day! 😀
Bathroom “trips” not tricks
I’m afraid I’m not that coordinated lol!
Lol…its not hard…I swear. Try it, its lifechanging!!!! (well maybe a slight exageration, but almost).
Fun to see what you took/wore!
Question about the jeans you took and mentioning possibly taking a slightly elevated pair… what would that pair be in this scenario? Thank you!
Also, a simple FYI for your team the ads are off the charts, making reading difficult with the post constantly reloading and resizing. (Not just today, but in recent posts as well).
I was wishing I had my new Paige Stevie – https://go.shopmy.us/p-52429546
I almost wore them instead of the Anessa, but thought I would prefer a different silhouette than the white pair. I’m the end, I think the Stevie would have been the better choice. I certainly didn’t need 2 blue pairs so I had to choose one.
A mix-and-match wardrobe makes vacation dressing so much easier! I usually skimp on packing jewelry but you made a good case for amping it up so I’m going to try it next time. If you can find a “similar for less” option for the F&E cardigan please share! I’m sorry you have to come back to spring in PA. Ugh! 😞
Ugh is right! I’m hoping the worst is over.
Z Supply has a nice alternative.
Thank you for giving an explanation as to why you like an outfit. It’s something that I can’t usually articulate.
Sounds like you had a great time.. thanks for sharing all your outfits and how you mix and match everything to keep packing at minimal. This year when we went to Florida we actually checked our bag for the first time and I must say it was a little nice having the extra space to throw in a few extras as well a to bring back some shopping purchases. I also agree with the other comment. There’s a lot of advertisements coming up while reading your post and it does interfere with the flow of things.
Safe travels!
How do you keep from gaining weight on your travels? I find this so difficult…..even walking a lot I still gain, eating “3 squares” a day!!
I don’t eat 3 squares a day but I still struggle not to gain weight. My white jeans were really snug toward the end of this trip. Another reason bringing an extra dress or two would have been helpful lol.
It is hard because eating out is part of the vacation experience by going to new places and trying new food. Our last family trip at an Airbandb, we did go to a local grocery store and cooked a few meals in the kitchen for some of the dinners and had quick and easy food for breakfasts and lunches.
I agree, I love eating out. That is pretty much what we do for fun, especially on vacation. By the end, Paul and I both felt really over it. I think that’s why getting a house is nice. Even though our resorts had kitchenettes, we didn’t really use them. When we were at the Airbnb, we did get grocery delivery and packed lunches a few days, and that helped I think.
Welcome back to Philly! It may be a little cooler than FL, but the spring flowers and trees are stunning (I may be biased since I JUST went to Longwood Gardens two days ago!) I agree with taking fun, summery, beachy jewelry on vacation. I have a collection of seashells, starfish, palm trees jewelry to add to any summer vacation outfit. I love your new momento ring! I must say that I really missedseeing any photos of your family on this trip. Except for one or two with Paul, you usually share a few with the girls as well. I even checked on Insta where you usually slip in some personal family pics. I understand if the girls said “no photos of us on your blog”! HAHA! Looks like your FL adventures were lovely, you looked stunning in everything!
Yeah we really didn’t get many. And one in particular does not want to be online anymore. So yeah. It’s a bummer but I want to honor their wishes.
Understood! But let them know we miss seeing their lovely faces! I also loved the photo from the airplane you posted on Insta! It was fun seeing Citizens Bank Park, even though the game was rained out for tonight.
I fly in there ALL THE TIME and I never noticed it that clearly before. It was so cool!
Oh my goodness!! What a fantastic post! Your outfits were gorgeous! I did purchase some wide leg jeans, and they are my favorites. I thought they would make me look shorter, but they don’t. They are also much cooler than straight leg. Again, thanks for this post and the great fashion ideas. I’m so glad you and your family had a great time in Florida. Safe Travels!! 😃
Thanks, Linda!
I didn’t see where you posted the name’s of places you stayed. It would be great to know since I live in Tampa. WE have been to some not so great places.
We stayed at Lido Beach Resort and The Resort at Longboat Key Club.
Great outfits! What nail polish are you wearing? THX:)
It’s OPI Funny bunny.
Thank you! Have a wonderful day
Great post, fun to see warm-weather looks (cold and raw here in MA). Question about the Dolce Vita sandals you wore….I’m intrigued you wore them so often to walk around. I have relatively low-profile, picky feet, and usually thin straps are uncomfortable. Can you speak to their comfort for walking a lot? Did your feet feel secure? They are pretty but I worry I’d walk right out of them!
They’re great. I could (and did) walk miles in them.
I ordered the ones like these you took but lighter color with the metal ball…. You have too but the toe strap between my toes hurt. It’s the strap pushing my foot forward. I loosened strap but still did it. Bummed as I lived them. I agree that the ads are making the post really hard to read. Constant moving.
You did a great job of rewearing pieces to create new looks. I was very impressed how you got everything packed back in your carryon for the trip home. I’m so glad that you had nice weather the whole time. We have family that has had a condo in Longboat Key for ages, so we have vacationed there a good bit. We do like being away from the riff raff.
It’s a beautiful area, very peaceful.
Wow! What a great vacation! Glad you had such a nice time with your family. Your outfits were perfect! Hope to do as well when we go to Washington State in June. Really not sure what to pack! Lol
Start with your favorites, and the ones that you can mix and match easily. Then fill in with anything you need to complete the capsule. It’s easy to caught up in feeling like you need a vacation wardrobe, but I think most of the time, wearing favorites from our closets is the best way to ensure you feel good and like what you wear when you’re traveling.
Great post! Do you have a preference as to the resorts you stayed at?
They both had pros and cons. Well, Lido Beach has few cons in my book, lol. I love it there. It’s more accessible to shops and restaurants, the food in the poolside restaurant is excellent. Everything I had was absolutely delicious. The coffee bar is really good too. I was underwhelmed by the food at the Longboat Key Club, but it was quieter and less crowded. The service and friendliness of staff, cleanliness, etc. was the same at both spots. They’re both Opal Collection so much of the amenities were similar.
Wow, what a great post! I felt like I was on vacay! I could even relate to feeling a bit oozey in the sun/heat when dehydrated. I was going to ask about the dolce vita dom sandals comfort level for walking and I see you covered that–they do look very nice. The brown button up sleeveless vest top–you showed b4–interests me–how well made is the top? I saw some comments on their site saying that the buttons kept falling off? Its very cute. You looked great in all the outfits here. I workout and yet I can’t get my legs to look like yours–whats your fav exercise to keep them in shape? And did/do you use a self-tanner on legs or is that a natural tan you got there?
I haven’t had issues with the buttons falling off, and they were definitely doing some work holding it together, lol. Mine fits rather snugly. There is one extra sewn into the side, in case. It doesn’t feel as high quality as some of my higher end clothes, but it’s Madewell so it’s definitely decent.
I did a spray tan and then I did get sun while I was there. As for my legs, I did nothing while I was away. I feel like a sloth. I think it’s mostly genetic and leftover from my running days.
Thanks!
I had to chuckle when I read your comment that you felt a bit underdressed when you saw the other folks in your party. I can’t imagine that happens to you often, as a fashion blogger. I am usually the opposite around family, I tend to be a little dressier than everyone else because I have few opportunities to dress up!
Katheryne, you made ME chuckle! I am just like you, usually overdressed! I worked at a nice women’s clothing store for 12 years before retiring and most of my wardrobe came from work! I still love wearing all those clothes so I am overdressed at dinners, church, outings and sometimes at the grocery store!! Hahaha!
Haha I love it! Thanks Sue!
Hi, does the Clare V crossbody bag have the ability to be even longer than you have shown in photo? Cute bag!
Also, I wish I could find the Tommy Bahama floral dress you were wearing, sold out!
Yes, I do not have it on the loosest setting. Also, I am so bummed the TB floral dress is sold out too. 😩
