I wore this cozy outfit to meet a friend to go outlet shopping last week. It was a chilly, windy day, but I didn’t want to wear a coat, so I bundled up in this chunky wool turtleneck, quilted down vest, and an oversized scarf.
On the bottom, I wore cargo skinnies and riding boots.
I like the combination of earth tones, and they complimented my chunky wool turtleneck beautifully.
I shared how to tie a blanket scarf in this post. This scarf is a rectangle, so I folded it in half to make a square and then I folded it across to create the triangle.
It’s definitely cumbersome worn this way, but I was glad for its warmth. As the day wore on, I ditched the scarf and wore the outfit like this.
I opted for large earrings instead of a necklace. I usually choose one or the other. Since I had my scarf, I went for the earrings. Then I just added a stack of Alex and Ani bangles and my Maylee ring.
Despite the cold, it was quite sunny so I wore my trusty shades. As for a bag, I honestly can’t remember what I carried. How crazy is that!? I think I carried my snakeskin satchel because it’s lightweight and blended in with the olive and “latte” colored sweater.
Outfit Details: J.Crew Quilted Down Vest $120 // Cable Chunky Turtleneck $98 // olive cargo skinnies via Stitch Fix // similar riding boots $149 // Modcloth Fall Night Long Scarf $24 // Maylee Ring $39 // Arabesque Chandeliers $39 // Kate Spade Laurie Sunnies, $150 // Alex and Ani Bangles

Thank you, Jan! xo
Happy Saturday Jo-Lynne! I really like the earth tones. The scarf is gorgeous and the outfit is cozy chic.
Thanks, Ginger. Have a great Saturday!
Hi Jo-Lynne. Love the casual outfit you put together for a day of shopping. I’m so glad you styled it with the J Crew turtleneck. I have been thinking about purchasing this sweater for a while now, but on the web site the neck looks tight. It does not appear to be a tight turtleneck on you. It looks looser the way I like them. Thanks for your helpful blog.
Hey Diane. I actually meant to discuss that in my post! I like it when I can pull a turtleneck down like I did with this one. I also don’t like it when they are tight against the throat. This one you can wear either way, which is nice. I highly recommend it! I also sized down. Mine is a small and still plenty roomy. I had ordered a medium, and I exchanged it.
Thanks for the sizing advice. I don’t order from J Crew often, so I am not familiar with how their clothes run as far as sizing.
Looks great with & without the scarf 🙂
