I blinked, and suddenly it’s Wednesday again, and time for another What I Wore Lately! The last couple of weeks have been pretty low-key, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been living in pajamas. Even when my calendar is quiet, I still like to get dressed in outfits that make me feel good and look pulled together—simple, quality pieces I reach for again and again because I truly enjoy wearing them. I hope this post inspires you to keep getting dressed for you, even on the most ordinary days.

As always, I’ll link similars for sold-out pieces and less expensive alternatives for pricier items where I can. I’ll also list my sizes with each outfit for reference; I’m usually between a small and medium in tops and a 29 or 30 in jeans.
Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits
This was the day I first tried these light-wash MOTHER Lil Kick It jeans, and I did not want to take them off. They’re so comfortable and fit just right. I added a cashmere hoodie and brown suede sneakers, then spent the day tidying the house for company and prepping Thanksgiving side dishes (yes, I wore an apron).
At some point, I got overheated and changed into a t-shirt, which is what I had on when our houseguests arrived, but I forgot to get a photo.

I hosted dinner for 14 on Thanksgiving Day, and I pulled together this comfortable-but-polished fall outfit. The raw-hem wide-leg jeans paired with brown embellished flats created that subtle mix of casual and dressy that felt both fun and functional for a full day of hosting, while the rust cardigan added the perfect autumnal touch. I finished the look with a bold pendant layered with a chain-link necklace and gold hoops.

We spent most of “Black Friday” hanging out at home, and I pulled on this cozy sweater, jeans, and clogs after getting back from my morning workout. I did some computer work and puttered around the house, tidying up from the day before. That night, we played a few games and polished off our Thanksgiving leftovers. It was such a nice, laid-back day after hosting a crowd.

Saturday was another fairly lazy day here at home with family still in town. I finished cleaning up, packed away all of my fall decorations, and pulled out Christmas! We ordered takeout for dinner and played games before turning in early. I kept it simple and casual with this cozy cardigan, black jeans, and slippers.

I was running late for church the next day after spending a little too much time working on my Sunday Scroll for Substack, so I grabbed my new red sweater (a nod to the first day of Advent!) and paired it with black jeans and leather boots, an easy combo that I knew would work. I skipped a belt and added the gold pendant for a much-needed focal point.

Side note: I’m not usually a fan of red and black together because it can feel a little predictable (especially this time of year), but the washed black denim adds some edge and keeps the look from feeling like the tired “office holiday uniform.”
I finished the look with a black car coat and a black shoulder bag to keep everything simple and cohesive.

I spent most of the next week at home and wore some version of this outfit three or four days out of seven. I’ve already sung the praises of this Quince sweater. I love the slouchy fit, even though it’s a smidge longer than I usually prefer. One day I paired it with my old favorite MOTHER Dazzlers and slippers, and I don’t think I left the house at all.

The next day, I decided to try the cool-girl trick and layer a white tee underneath. (Style tip: wear it backwards so the neckline shows.) This time I paired it with my new MOTHER Kick It straight-leg jeans and brown suede adidas sneakers.

But it was rainy and sleeting, and I had a spa appointment that afternoon, so I switched into my weather-proof Aquatalia boots when it was time to head out and topped everything off with my long Aritzia Super Puff.

And then the next day I tried to change things up with my Z Supply cardigan and black La Canadienne boots for a hair appointment (with the same jeans).

Z Supply Breen Cardigan (M) // MOTHER Lil Kick It (30P) (option) // La Canadienne Kiki Citi Dry Booties (8.5) (option) // similar hoops
But it’s always freezing in the salon, and I was already feeling chilly, so I ended up changing back into the Quince sweater with the tee underneath and wearing this instead.

The next day, I had no reason to leave the house, so I pulled on this old turtleneck, added comfy knit pants and slippers, and called it a day!

Aaaand, yet another day at home… I managed to snag this gorgeous White + Warren sweater on an end-of-season sale last spring, and I’ve been enjoying it so much lately. It’s simple but has just the right amount of interest, with the stripe pattern, an exposed seam up the back, and ribbed trim. What really makes it special, though, is the cut and quality—it just fits so well. Any time you can grab a piece from White + Warren on sale, I highly recommend it! Sadly, this one is now sold out, but I found a similar option HERE.
It probably seems like a waste to wear something this nice just to work from home, but I love it and it makes me happy. I also love how these Gola sneakers in bone suede tie in with the colors in the sweater.

I finally got to wear that Z Supply cardigan on Saturday night when we hosted friends for dinner and games. I paired it with my PAIGE Anessa wide leg jeans (25% off at Bloomingdale’s!) because the shorter cardigan works so well with the higher 11 1/2″ rise—the cropped length really shows off the curve of the hip, which you tend to lose with a longer top.
These jeans are also perfect with Mary Janes, so I finished the look with the Madewell Remi in hair calf and added gold hoops and a mixed-metal station necklace to fill the neckline.

For church on Sunday, I built the whole outfit around this plaid coat. The cream sweater, blue jeans, and brown boots and bag all tie back to the colors in the plaid, which makes the whole look feel really cohesive.

EVEREVE Wesley Plaid Long Coat (S) // Jenni Kayne Cashmere Fisherman Sweater (S) // Treasure & Bond Maria Suede Belt (M) // AGOLDE Harper (29) // Sam Edelman Saige Bootie (8.5) // similar bag // similar hoops
Here’s the outfit underneath once the coat came off—simple and classic, but the belt really helps it feel pulled together.

Fit note: In my perfect world, these jeans would be a smidge shorter, but it’s not enough to bother hemming them (I don’t even think they could take off just a 1/4 inch and still retain the original hem). I tried washing them once in hopes that might do the trick, but they didn’t shrink at all. These are the highest heels I own, so I’m calling it good and moving on.
We went out to lunch after church, and when I got home, I switched into more casual jeans and clogs to decorate the tree and then hang out with friends that evening.

That brings us to Monday, when I met a friend for lunch and a little shopping after my workout. I snapped these photos in the EVEREVE dressing room. It was cold out, but I didn’t want to deal with a heavy coat at the mall, so I grabbed a chunky turtleneck sweater and layered it under my oxblood leather jacket. I wore the La Canadienne boots for warmth (and because they’re comfortable enough for lots of walking), and my trusty MOTHER Lil Kick Its to keep the look casual and easy.

AllSaints Ryder in Oxblood (S) (option) // similar turtleneck // MOTHER Lil Kick It (30P) (option) // La Canadienne Kiki Citi Dry Booties (8.5) (option) // similar bag // similar earrings
Then yesterday, I had a facial appointment (thus the no-makeup look), and I wanted to wear this new sweatshirt I picked up at EVEREVE. Unfortunately, my Vitamin C serum splashed when I went to pump it out and ended up marking the sweatshirt—I noticed it right when I took this photo.

LNA Joey Henley Sweatshirt (S) // AGOLDE 90s Loose (29) (option) // striped socks // Birkenstock Boston Rivets (39) (option)
So I tossed it in the wash and switched into the cozy stripe sweater instead. When it was time to head out, the brown Madewell coat I’d been debating felt like the perfect topper, so I ripped the tags off and wore it!

Sometimes that’s how I decide to keep something I’ve been on the fence about—the need shows up, it’s sitting right there, and that’s my answer. No more overthinking it!
And that, my friends, wraps up the last couple of weeks around here. Thanks for following along! 💛

Stopped by to say I love the whole outfit with the Evereve Wesley plaid coat, wish I lived somewhere cold enough to need a coat!! It will comes together so well and looks great on you.
Thank you!
Thanks, JoLynne. You’ve got me shopping again. 🤣 I just bought the Ugg Dakota slippers and now I’m looking online at coats and sweaters. Is the Quince sweater color called “brown “ because in your photo and the quince photo the shade seems different?
Just thought I’d chime in on the Ugg Dakota you bought, I have a pair at least 6 yrs old and love them! Great comfort and support for a slipper, in fact last year I ordered the replacement fleece innersoles for them. Considering buying a backup pair, Northstrom Rack sold out though.
Thank you, Nancy, good to know I can replace the insoles!
Mine is a heather brown, it seems to be discontinued. 🙁
You hit it out of the park with the Madewell brown coat with the sweater and jeans; looks just relaxed enough to style like you did without looking formal like most long wool coats, glad you kept it!
Which Mother jeans, the Dazzler or Lil’Kick It do you like best? They both look good on you, I’m still looking for a good everyday full length jean after trying the Brinley which looked frumpy on me.
Great tip on the backwards t-shirt with sweater, cute!
Thanks!
I like them both for different purposes, but the Kick It feel more modern to me right now.
I have a question on wearing the white tee backwards….how well does this work with short hair, will the tee show in the back? Also is it comfortable to wear the tee backwards? Just curious
I doubt it would show in the back, but it’s not terribly uncomfortable once it’s on. I am looking one that has a higher neck though.
Love the coats you put on and how they complete your outfits!
Great looks we can duplicate. I love the long brown and blue plaid coat look. Love that coat. I like seeing what you end up wearing daily. I also follow Kay Harms…. She’s so sweet and her blog is called Dressed for my day. So whenever I think to not dress for my day and wear leggings too many days at home I think about her always saying to dress for your day and you’ll feel better and be more productive and more apt to go out spur of the moment if a friend calls you for coffee date or something. You do this well.
I love watching Kay Harms as well, she dresses classic pieces which I like.
I also enjoy Kay’s looks and videos.
Have to tell you how much I love the Mother Lil Kick It straight leg you’ve recommended. I’d been looking for a true straight leg jean for the longest time, but I could never find one that looked the way I wanted it to on me. I’m 5’6” and it would never have occurred to me to try a petite length, but these work perfectly in every way. Thank you for the great idea! They are super flattering and the perfect length to wear with my sneakers. And I love all the ways you styled them in this post. Thank you for all the inspo!
YAY! SO happy to hear that. They really are a bit of a unicorn.
I, too like to look put together and wear things that make me feel good, even if I don’t have plans to go anywhere. I also will use days like that as an opportunity to try new combinations and see how I feel in them after a couple hours. If I don’t like the look, I can just change and if I do, it’s something I can wear when I need to get out the door quickly and don’t have time to mess around.
That’s a great strategy. I tend to go for my tried and true favorites.
I was unable to load your blog on DuckDuckgo because of ad blockers. I may not have the patience to read your blog on Chrome everyday. However the ads aren’t bad today. I always give a like to your substack from email. I’m kinda hooked on YouTube lately and don’t have time to read. Cute outfits.
Especially like both coat outfits. I just found a long brown coat on eBay and can’t wait to wear it. I tend to avoid plaid- I went to Catholic school for 13 years and that was more plaid than anyone needs. I do have one fringed wool skirt I really like, brown, red, and camel, but that’s the only plaid item in my closet. But that coat is so pretty and different!
You really do like those Mother Lil Kick it jeans don’t you? They do look great with all your flat shoes!😀💜
Jo-Lynne! I ordered the Mother Lil Kickit in the darker wash and they arrived today! They fit perfectly and are so flattering and are my new favorite. I just ordered them in your color too. Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Patt, How did you find the fit? I tried on Mother jeans in the past in my normal size 31 and they were so tight. I always check fabric content, to determine if they will run small or large. Just interested in your thoughts. I am between a 10-12 in jeans, or a 31 usually.
I ordered my normal size, 28. I wondered if it would be too small because it was in petite sizing, but since Jo-Lynne said she loved them even though they were petite, I gave it a try. As I pulled them on, I was afraid the waist would be tight, but they zipped right up and kind of pulled everything in, and are very flattering and perfect in length, too. I would order the size that normally fits you in most brands and give it a try.
Thanks, Patt! I am lucky to have a Nordstrom’s nearby and can try on the different styles. Maybe there will be some sales just after Christmas? I like to try on at the store, then come home and order on-line so Jo-Lynne gets “credit”!!
Love the coat outfits. Too bad the brown one is out of stock. The plaid is cute–but seems too limited what to wear with it.
Don’t know where the red comes from for advent. Color is purple.
I bought the Z Supply Breen Cardigan, in the blue color, and I love it. The size small fit me best, mainly because of the arms being a bit shorter in that size. I like that brown shade as well. Z Supply is one of my favorite brands at Evereve.
