I’m so excited to be joining Kristin, Cyndi and Audrey today for a Valentine’s Day Style Challenge. As I said in a recent post, I’m all for this holiday. I don’t think we celebrate love often enough, plus any excuse for a date night is a win in my book.
J.Jill sent us each a gift card to go shopping. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to J.Jill so I was excited to see their new spring line. I love the muted color palette… shades of blue and grey along with cream and khaki, and a gorgeous shade of rose that contrasts with the cool tones perfectly.
J.Jill is known for their relaxed style, and their materials are super soft and comfy so I decided to style an outfit that I might wear to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home with the family.
First I picked up the slim boyfriend jeans. I love the color, and I like how they’re designed so you can wear them either full length or rolled up when the weather warms up.
When my eyes fell on this easy merino pullover, I think it actually called my name. It’s simple, but so pretty, and the elliptical hemline keeps it modern. The light grey heather is the perfect compliment to the pinkish red jeans.
Then the scarf pulls the outfit together. They have quite a few scarf options in this color palette, but I finally settled on the Paris paisley scarf.
Sometimes I feel fussy in a scarf, so I picked out this collected beads necklace as well so I’d have an option.
This outfit is perfect for a special dinner at home — casual, comfortable, and the color palette is reminiscent of spring… at least it gives me hope.
Thanks so much to J.Jill for being a sponsor for our Valentine’s Day Style Collab. Be sure to visit Kristin, Cyndi and Audrey to see what outfits they put together for a Valentine’s Day dinner at home; and stay tuned for Wednesday, when we share our going out looks for Valentine’s Day!
Personally, I think they should use your photo on the porch with your dog on the cover of their catalog! Perfection!!
LOL!! Wouldn’t that be a hoot!?
Does this line run big?
Yes, it does. I am wearing a small in the sweater and a 6 in the pants. I usually go for mediums and eights.
I am stopping by via Cyndi’s blog to see your J Jill style! I have never shopped there but I really like the classic outfits you both put together! That sweater is the perfect weight. Thanks for the style tips! Susan
Thanks, Susan!
I really like this outfit. I prefer the scarf with it – does tie it all together.
The necklace isn’t enough, IMHO.
I might have to go see about those jeans – been looking for colored ones.
Yeah, the scarf really makes it. But I like the necklace a lot. It would look good with blue jeans too.
Lovely scarf and sweater comfortable wear
You look gorgeous! I love that scarf. Without knowing it, we all picked completely different looks. Love it!
Cute outfit! I like how you tied your scarf-how did you do that?
Well, I’m not entirely sure. LOL!! Every time I try to do it again, it doesn’t quite work out right. I need to play around, and then I want to do a video. The girl at the J.Jill store actually showed me this method.
Yes, a video would be great…..like how you tied it.
You look amazing!
You look great and I love that top! I have a pair of pants similar to that so now I think I’ll check out that scarf in the store 🙂 Also I wanted to let you know I made the potato soup this weekend and it was absolutely delicious! (I used gf flour too)
Thanks!
That’s so awesome to hear!
If you look at the top third of the first picture with the necklace it looks like you are on the beach!
Yeah, I wish! LOL
Oooh, really cute! You look so pretty in those colors. I like JJill.
Thanks, Jill!! I really love the color palette.
Jo-Lynne I love the outfit you styled. I just may go buy those exact pieces! I’m more of a copycat than a trendsetter 🙂 I don’t think I ever let you know, but at Christmas when you did your post about the Soma pjs, I ran out and bought two pair! One for my daughter and one for me! So you are effective. Have a super Valentine’s day. I love that holiday, too.
In fact I wrote a chapter about it in an old compilation book which is terribly named, The Godly Business Woman Magazine’s Guide to Cooking and Entertainment. It’s actually a wonderful book about hospitality and how to celebrate holidays and occasions like wedding showers, engagement parties, retirement dinners, children’s birthdays, etc. It’s still available on Amazon, too. 🙂
Thanks, Kay, that is so nice to hear! I actually bought those Soma PJs for my mom b/c I loved them so much! LOL.
That is my kind of outfit. Comfy and cozy, and it looks great too! Thanks for the ideas!
thanks!! 🙂
Hi Jo-Lynne! I love your outfit, it’s so pretty and soft! I recently bought a few new things at Jjill including their black skinny pants that I paired with black boots (at your suggestion last year) and a beautiful new Jjill sweater. Needless to say I love them because I feel comfortable, warm and stylish. As a fifty year old mom of five I feel like I’m finally getting back into the groove. Thanks so much for your ongoing inspiration and guidance!
I love to hear these things! YAY! 🙂
J’adore your outfit! Very classy and cute. You’ve inspired me to find a valentines day outfit for our stay at home dinner on Saturday!
I’m new to the blog world. Can someone tell me how do you upload an avatar pic next to my comment? Thanks!
Hey Natalie. So yeah, if you go to gravatar.com and set up your account, and link the email address you use to comment on blog posts, you can upload the image you want there, and it will show beside your name from now on. 🙂
Thanks, Natalie! So glad to hear it. Let me know what you find. 🙂
I love how comfortable it looks, then adding a beautiful scarf and you have transformed it into an elegant outfit. Looks great!
