Welcome back to 26 Days of Fall Outfits! Last weekend we went out for an impromptu date night with friends. It was a last minute plan so I didn’t have much time to think about what I was going to wear. While the components of this outfit are old, it took me a while to put it together. I was trying to make a new tunic work, but in the end, I went with what was familiar and comfortable, and I’m so glad I did. Sometimes it’s fun to take a fashion risk, and other times, it’s nice to wear something familiar so you can be sure to be comfortable and feel good about yourself.
I picked up this tie-dye top in a local shop a few years back. I’ve worn it a couple of times when I want something a little bit edgy and unexpected. The back is open, so I always wear it over a black tank top. I love this detailing though.
I paired the top with my dark wash skinny jeans and black wedge knee-high boots. It was a warm night in September, so I like the combination of a sleeveless top with boots.
I wore these bold Silpada Half Moon Earrings and went without a necklace. In the past, I’ve worn a long pendant, but I felt like the earrings were enough. In looking back at these pictures, though, I feel that it could have used something. Oh well! To that, I just added a stack of silver bangles on one wrist and my watch on the other. I still can’t find my FitBit. So sad.
I carried my Stella & Dot Waverly Crossbody. The grey sueded perf and softly distressed metallic vegan leather seemed to work well with this the top. My hair wasn’t cooperating so I pulled it back and secured it with bobby pins. I’m getting it cut and colored today. YAY!

It is unfair how gorgeous you are. 😉 I LOVE that top! What a fun detail but I am glad you make it classy. Will you come to TN and make me over?
You are too sweet. I have a really good photographer. 😉 I would LOVE to visit you in TN. We need to figure out how to make that happen. 🙂 Got any blog conferences in your future? I was going to Type A but decided to defer my ticket to their Disney conference next fall. It’s hard to fit everything in!
That would be a perfect outfit for me. Classy, comfortable. Thanks for the inspiration. Hubs and I need a date night, so this may be the push I need to get that on my calendar!
Yes, date nights are so important. 🙂 We didn’t get out much when our kids were younger, but we are making up for it now. LOL!
Very cute outfit! I love tie dye.
I have found pretty date night tops in the INC brand at Macys.
Good to know!
Love the tie dye top! This is a perfect everyday or even date night out outfit.
Thank you, my friend! xo
I’m a new reader–came to you through Cyndi. I’ve been enjoying your 26 days of fall fashion. I like that you are casual and “everyday”–that’s my style! I”m a homeschooling mom and a piano teacher so most days I”m at home but still need to look better than yoga pants every day! 🙂
My favorite outfit so far is the mustard sweater. Very good colors on you! I really like your mushroom ankle boots too.
But I must say I’m not a fan of the balck boots in today’s otfit. This style (the small ankle) seems to make you legs seem very skinny and streamlined. I feel like they make you top heavy. I think these boots would look much better with skirts and dresses rather than pants. Since these boots are more form fitting I think they would llook great with dresses/skirts. With pants I think boots look better with a little more bulk.
Maybe I’m all wrong–just a few thougthts–for whatever they are worth.
Thanks for letting us into your life and sharing fashion help for all of us. I appreciate your style and budget!
Hey Jennifer. Glad you’re enjoying the series! These boots ARE fabulous with dresses. I wear them that way too. 🙂
This is a perfect date night look. I love your blog!
Thanks, Debra!
The back of the top is too cute! I love it when there is a little surprise in an outfit.
I LOVE this outfit, but you always look great! Thanks for sharing your outfits and keeping it real for us busy Moms!
I absolutely LOVE this tie-dye top! The open back is so cute too. It looks great with the jeans and black boots!

Thanks, Kelsie!
love the Silpada earrings! 😉
I love the ty-dyed top! Way to go on having it in your closet! Once I saw that it opened in the back, I would have left it in the store instead of thinking to wear a tank underneath it. All of us have at least one comfort outfit. I need you to come to GA and give me a closet makeover!
This is about as dressy as I’d get on the Oregon coast for date night, so it’s perfect. I actually love the boots with this and you look fabulous! I’d like to see your burgundy bag with this to add a pop of color, maybe?
I’ve so enjoyed this series with you and Cyndi and appreciate all your hard work involved. I purchased many items that I never thought I’d buy, but was so inspired by your outfits and accessories, that I had to have some new stuff!! I bought a Michael Kors bag (on sale); an olive green utility vest (just like the one you sported on day 1); Loft v-neck t shirts in red clay and stripe; Loft burgundy “sweatshirt” (Cyndi had one in cream); Sam Edelman”Penny” tall leather boots in cognac and cognac “Petty” booties. Oh yeah, and another pair of leopard ballet flats…
My wish list has Stella and Dot all over it, and a nice fit bit bracelet (hopefully you found yours?!)
I donated a lot of my gently used clothes, shoes and handbags to make room for my new items, so I don’t feel so guilty, lol. I’m going to try and stick with some basic pieces and not be overwhelmed by too many clothes. Thanks again for the inspiration!!
Wow! Good for you! I donate my gently used items as well. I do hope it’s a blessing to others somewhere down the line. Enjoy your new duds! 🙂
