You guys, I like a snow day as much as the next mom, but on top of a four-day weekend??! Lord, help us all.
I guess in a way, it worked out. My 15-year-old is feeling under the weather, and an extra day at home is exactly what he needs. But if it is possible to pickle a brain on video games, he will be the first to achieve it!
I really wanted to pull on the yoga pants and sweatshirt that I wore yesterday and call it a day, but this 28 Days of Winter Outfits series gave me the impetus to get dressed in street clothes.
I tried this black sweater on first with a grey embellished t-shirt from the summer, but the necklines didn’t play well together so I resorted to this familiar striped tee. It really is a great winter closet staple. I got mine at LOFT a few years ago, but this one at the Gap is similar. It’s marked down to $17.99, PLUS today they’re running a 25% off sale! Starting 2/17: 25% off purchase, online only, at Gap. Use code: HAPPY. Ends 2/17.
I layered two silver necklaces and wore simple stud earrings. Actually, I slept in the earrings and didn’t bother to switch them out. I know, lazy!
Even though I’m not going anywhere today, I grabbed the blue purse at the last minute to add some color to the outfit. I think red would have been better, though — especially since my nail polish is red. But, of course, any color would work with this neutral outfit.
I’m tired of wearing my grey suede or black riding boots every day, so I put on these moto-style ankle boots for a change. These are also very supportive and comfortable — perfect for this stage of weaning out of my medical brace.
It’s a simple outfit, but it works.

I love the blue purse. Fun color for the winter.
