3 Vacation-Ready Looks with Nordstrom

Spring break is just around the corner, and summer vacations after that, so today I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to share three warm weather looks for your vacation planning and packing needs.

Even if you don’t have plans to travel this spring, you can wear these looks at home as soon as the weather warms up where you live. In fact, I plan to have all three of these outfits on repeat this summer.

KUT from the Kloth Amanda Boxy Jacket (S) // Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee (S) // PAIGE Anessa Wide Leg Jeans (29) (option) (budget option) // Sam Edelman Bambi Raffia Slide Sandals (8) // similar clutch // similar earrings // similar belt

This first look is my vacation travel outfit. (I usually wear sneakers on the plane and bring the sandals in my carry-on so I can swap them out when I get to my warm weather destination.)

I love this pink denim jacket; it’s such a happy color, and it looks great with blue jeans and a white tee. It’s stretchy and comfortable, and it has a flattering silhouette. Plus, the cargo pockets and slightly longer length gives it an updated appeal. This jacket runs true to size, or size down if in between. I’m wearing the small.

My PAIGE Anessa Raw Hem Wide Leg Jeans are from last year, and I see they’re starting to sell out. I wasn’t aware of that when I shot this look! This pair and this pair are similar premium denim options, and the KUT from the Kloth Meg is a similar style for less.

My favorite way to wear wide leg ankle jeans is with neutral slides. It has such an effortlessly chic summer vibe, and these Sam Edelman raffia slides are my current favorites. I love the texture the raffia and scalloped edges add to the look, and the tortoiseshell buckle creates a pleasing contrast and keeps them classy. They’re very comfortable, with padding under the strap and in the footbed. They run true to size, or size up if in between.

STYLE TIP: Wearing the neutral sandal that’s close to the color of my skin tone helps elongate the line of the leg and balance the crop wide leg jeans.

I’m wearing the Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee underneath my pink jacket. It’s a great price for this essential summer wardrobe staple, and it can stand alone if it’s hot where I’m going and I want to remove the jacket when I get there.

My second look features this sleeveless linen sheath in the black with the contrast stitching. It’s made of a breathable blend of linen and Tencel® lyocell, so it can withstand hot temperatures. It also looks great with a denim jacket top, if it gets chilly at night.

This is the perfect dress to take you from sightseeing all day, out to dinner at night. In fact, I wore the white one last year in Italy, and did exactly that.

Tommy Bahama Palma A Dora Sleeveless Sheath Dress (M) // P448 sneakers (39) // Tom Ford sunglasses

I love how it has a v-neck in the back and an exposed zipper for a little added interest. This dress runs true to size, or size up if in between; I have the medium because I wanted plenty of breathing room.

The P448 sneakers keep it casual and comfortable for lots of walking, and you can swap them out for sandals for dinner.

Finally, no vacation capsule is complete without a stylish poolside or beach-friendly look!

One piece swimsuits are trending again, and after many years of preferring a tankini, I’m really enjoying the ease of a one piece. Not only are they easy to slide on and off, they keep everything smoothed out through the midsection, whereas a tankini can create extra lumps and bumps or accentuate a thicker middle.

La Blanca is one of my favorite swimsuit brands, and Nordstrom has lots of styles to choose from. They typically offer good coverage and modern styles that aren’t frumpy. The one I’m wearing here is their Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit in a size 10. It’s very sleek and simple, and the shirring through the waist is flattering on every body type.

And of course, every bathing suit needs a stylish cover-up for getting to and from the beach or pool. I wore this Sea Level Heatwave Cover-Up Shirtdress over my swimsuit when I was in Florida, and I love the relaxed fit and how it keeps everything covered.

It also looks chic and polished when you’re walking around or grabbing a bite at the poolside bar. You can wear it buttoned or unbuttoned, or even add a pair of denim shorts for more of a styled outfit.

Sunglasses are essential when you’re at the beach, and I’m a huge fan of these oversized square frames. Diff makes a similar style for less, and there’s also this super budget-friendly BP. pair.

As always, when you shop at Nordstrom, you get their free shipping and free returns. And don’t forget about their BOPUS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) and contactless curbside pickup options.

  1. I’m loving the raffia shoe trend! If you’re looking for blog post ideas, a raffia shoe round up would be fun!

  2. Oh JoLynne I’m so sorry this happened to you! And just when it’s starting to warm up too! How did you fall? How long do they think it will take to heal?

    1. Thanks, Dottie. I was coming downstairs in the dark, and I missed the last step. I was distracted by noticing the dog’s poop on the foyer carpet, lol! And I was holding a glass of water, so I couldn’t brace myself and I turned it and went down on it with all my weight. It was pretty dramatic. I knew it was going to be bad. Not sure how long it will take to heal, but these soft tissue injuries tend to take a long time.

      1. Oh good to hear…. Hard to find suits that aren’t these days but still look youthful. Want to try it.

So sorry about your ankle results.

  3. I am so sorry about your ankle. I have done that exact thing twice and it is so frustrating. You immediately wish you could have a do-over! I have been here long enough to remember your various escapades. I was just telling my husband about your I’ll-fated 25th anniversary trip. Hopefully, you will be up and about walking normally soon! Question: would you still wear a small in that jacket pre-surgery?

    1. Yes, I wore the same size in KUT from the Kloth jackets before my breast reduction surgery. I never button them, so I go based on how they fit in the back and shoulders.

  4. Jo-Lynne, I love everything you’ve shown here! So classic and simple. I was wondering, what style of bra do you wear with the shift dress, so the straps don’t show here…is it one that criss crosses in back or a strapless? Thanks so much!

  5. You look so great in the strawberry jacket….would love to see you in more color. Hope your ankle heels quickly. Those sprains really smart!

  6. I’ve had two La Blanca suits in the past and they are definitely worth the investment!
Sorry to hear your ankle was more than just a sprain! Hope it heals quickly although like you said these soft tissue injuries can take time and lots of follow up physiotherapy!
    Take care!

  7. Oh, Jo-Lynne, first, your updated site looks great and secondly, so sorry about your fall and injury! I hope this will be a fast and easy recovery for you.

  8. All very cute. The pink jacket looks so good on you. Did you ever order the Loft bomber jacket that was on your cart? You mentioned it on one of your emails when your website was not complete. I like to see the clothes on you rather than the models.

  9. Was it warm on the beach when you took the photos?
I ordered the strawberry pink jacket and have my fingers crossed it’s as lovely in person. I ordered a Medium and hope it’s good in the shoulders as I never close them. It’s such a happy color!

Q: Awhile back there was a FB Tribe survey about having a reselling separate group. Did that ever get traction? I’ve not had any luck with Poshmark. Everyone “saves” my items and sends notices about their shows, but there are no buyers.

I hope you feel better soon. I’ve had a few of those “oh no, turn back the clock ten seconds” moments that resulted in surgery, long recovery, and time, too much time. I once broke a molar clean in two on a Mary’s seeded cracker, resulting in one year recovery and $$$$$$$ to pull it, post it, and crown it. ugh. I feel your pain.

    1. Oh my gosh, dental work is the WORST. I love those crackers, but I think I might never have one again after hearing that.

I honestly don’t think I have the bandwidth for a resell group, even if it’s separate and I make a disclaimer that I’m not responsible for any issues that arise. I foresee drama that affects our group, and it’s hard enough to keep everyone happy as it is. 🙂

  10. You look great in all these looks. What color are you wearing in the swimsuit. It looks lighter in these photos than when you first shared this suit. Do you have two colors in it? I’m hoping to try it. Now to decide color and size.

  11. Just a little tip. I just purchased the black sheath dress a few weeks ago and the sales lady told me that the dress can also be worn with the zipper in the front . It was still very comfortable and of course the v-neck also looked better on me. 😀
    You look great as always!
