5 Must Have Shoes for Fall #NSale

Last week when I was driving home from Maine, I put out a call on Instagram for questions. One of them was: What are you most looking forward to in the fall?

Immediately, without a moment’s hesitation, I responded: Boots and sweaters!

I’m a summer girl through and through, but I do love fall fashion, and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the perfect time to get ahead of the game and start stocking your closet for the best fashion season of the year.

Today I’m sharing my 5 must-have shoes for fall, and all of these are currently on sale. Yes, some are starting to sell out, but I’ve included other options for each category that are well stocked.

The #NSale is happening now through Aug 4th, so make sure to check it out before prices go back up. If you want to be one of the first to shop this sale next year, you can sign up for the Nordstrom credit card to receive perks like Early Access to the Anniversary Sale and more.

5 Must Have Shoes for Fall #NSale

#1. Ankle Boots // Ankle boots are hotter than ever, and there are so many options available from heels to flats, wedges to block heels, western styles to sock booties, and even open-toe and perforated styles that you can start wearing right away.

I was excited to find these Lucky Brand wedge booties in the sesame suede. It’s such a great neutral, and they’re extremely comfortable (they have a padded footbed) and also water-proof.

The notched topline and layered detailing is a nice touch, and they come in a bunch of other colors as well as leopard and snakeskin.

#2. Tall Boots // Whether they’re OTK or knee-high, tall boots continue to be an important fall wardrobe essential. I love tall boots for their warmth, plus they have a way of elongating and slimming that’s extremely flattering.

My Vince Camuto OTK Boots are from last year’s #NSale, but this year’s pair is very similar — just updated with a slightly more rounded toe and a little more going on with the whipstitching detail. They also come in extended calf for tall girls.

These are nice because they have a 2″ stacked heel, making them super walkable. Nordstrom has a lot of other tall boot options, from casual to dressy, depending on your wardrobe needs. I’ll share some of my favorites below.

#3. Stylish Sneakers // These days sneakers aren’t just for the gym — they can also make a chic fashion statement.

These Nike trainers were calling my name when I saw them in my local store, and I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so I went back and got them before we left for Maine.

I love the rose gold color and the sock-like fit. They’re super lightweight and well-padded — perfect for training sessions at the gym, long days of sightseeing, or chasing your kids at the park.

Here’s how I’d style them with boyfriend jeans and a sporty tee for casual wear.

#4.  Animal Print // The hottest trend going this fall is animal print, and shoes are no exception.

These Jeffrey Campbell snakeskin booties were one of the first items that caught my eye in the #NSale preview catalog, and they did not disappoint!

I love the pink hues in the snakeskin print, and the goring angles on the sides. They feel great on, and the price is pretty nice too — during the #NSale, they’re under $100.

I styled them with skinny jeans and a neutral cowlneck pullover, but they will be an incredibly versatile piece in my wardrobe this fall. In fact, I can start wearing them now with shorts and skirts.

Unfortunately, they did sell out, but I’ll link up some more snakeskin bootie options as well as a few other animal print shoes from the #NSale below.

#5. Statement Heels // I love a good pair of heels, and I’m excited about the variety of textures and prints available this fall.

These plaid pumps are a fun way to pop a neutral outfit, plus they’re very comfortable and walkable. They have a padded footbed and 3 1/4″ heel.

  1. Love the snake heels!  Fun change from all the leopard!  Really like those tennis shoes too,  they don’t seem as bulky as most.  Also I’m glad to see how you styled them with jeans and a tee,  I never can quite pull that off without looking soccer mom,  but maybe the cropped boyfriend jeans are the key!

  2. I have a 10 year old pair of kitten heels with the snakeskin pattern that need to be replaced. Glad that there is a ton of options for me to do that. I LOVE the plaid shoes, just need to look for ones with a lower heel.

  3. Ooh yay!  I picked up a bargain pair of snakeskin booties last year.  One down, four to go!

Love all the options you’ve shown, but those gray boots: 😍

Also especially like the casual vibe of the plaid pumps…  this post is pushing all the shoe buttons!

  4. I live in the south where I dont really need to the knee boots for warmth. I have a few pair. But I’ve seen some cute boots that come to calf that I might consider. Can you tell me if you know of any brands other than UGG. Maybe 9-10 ” tall. Thanks.

  5. I’m not seing your blog posts on Bloglovin in the last 2 days. Is Bloglovin down? Always love reading your blog.

  6. I don’t think booties will ever go out of style. They are just too versatile. The perfect compromise between a shoe & tall boot.
Tall boots made a big comeback last year and will be even more so this year. Do you think OTK will have staying power?
I love those plaid heels 😍

  7. Do the Lucky Brand Yimina booties run TTS? On Nordstrom’s site it recommends to order one half size up. Thanks!

  8. Oooh while I hate to think about what follows after fall lol ❄
I really enjoyed these great boots and shoe ideas. Love this blog! Thank you once again!

    Be Blessed.

  9. Great post again today. I like it when you show us things even if they are sold out.  I get the idea and can shop other stores for the look.   I haven’t jumped on most of the animal prints but I sure do like snake skin. You mentioned the pink undertone. I wonder if that is why I like it. I rarely wear browns and never oranges and that is what I see in leopard and cougar prints. I think snake skin booties will be on my fall wish list.  Thanks again

  10. Just picked up Chinese Laundry Focus snakeskin booties/shooties.   Love them!!

They are incredibly comfortable (I’ve been trying hard to find lower/more-walkable shoes that are still stylish–tried 5 different pairs of snakeskin booties this pre-fall!)

The only drawback for these CL booties is the sock factor.  Trying to figure that out, and I’m open to suggestions!

  11. Thanks for this post!  Oh how I wish the camo Lucky brand booties were in a narrow width because I would order them right away.  Camo fits my lifestyle, especially during hunting season.  I am so ready for cooler temps!  It’s been so hot and humid here that even the tops of my feet get sweaty, making my sandals rub and hurt.  🥵. I hope you enjoyed your lazy afternoon by the pool with your friends!

  12. Great post! I’m just starting to inventory my closet for fall wardrobe needs. I’m not surprised those snakeskin booties sold out because those babies were on point! I’m anxious to see what else is released in the snakeskin bootie line as fall approaches. I love fall and winter fashion- spring and summer I just kind of give up, lol. So I’m ready for fall weather so I can enjoy getting dressed again!

  13. Hey 🍁 that was my question.  🎃. I’m with ya girl . . .  💗 me some boots & sweaters.  👢🍁.

  14. I really liked those Lucky Brand wedges, but ended up with their low-heeled camo booties, as I always seem to need something that I can slip on as I dah out of the house! xo Nipa @fashionipa
