I love wearing black all year ’round, but there’s something extra fabulous about an all black look in the summertime. I always feel so effortlessly chic when I manage to get the right combination of shapes and textures, and I think this outfit from Talbots pretty much nails it.

This is what I wore to breakfast with the ladies when I was on vacation at the beach last week.
The slub halter maxi dress is the perfect marriage of style and function. I love the crochet trim at the halter neck with keyhole cutout at the back, and the way the tie helps define the waist.
Maxi dresses are coming back in style, but midi dresses are still relevant, and this one is right in between, depending on your height.
The cotton slub knit fabric is lightweight and breathable, so I was comfortable even though I was seated partially in the sun.
This dress is also available in a pretty Cyan Blue, and it comes in misses and petite sizes. I’m wearing the misses size small, but I could probably size up to a medium.
As soon as I saw these Keri Rope Raffia Slides, I knew they’d be perfect with this dress. The knot detail on the vamp gives a subtle nautical vibe, and the raffia adds an extra element of texture to the look and keeps it light and summery, which is especially important when wearing black in the summertime.
Fringe is having a moment this summer, and I love how these slides allow me to participate in that trend in a classy way.
I was also impressed by how comfortable they are. We walked almost a mile round trip, but with the low heel and memory foam footbed, my feet were actually quite comfortable.
This woven crossbody is in keeping with the all black look, while incorporating a natural element. That in addition to the luxe leather and visible stitching adds even more contrast and texture to the outfit, and it pairs beautifully with the sandals.
I love that you can carry this bag as a clutch or on the shoulder (or across the body) with the removable strap. It’s also adjustable so you can customize the length to your liking.
For accessories, I picked up this rattan and gold Woven Wonder Bangle to lighten up the outfit.
And the textured gold Swirled Not Stirred Earrings add some shine up near the face. They’re large enough to be noticeable in my dark hair, but small enough to keep the chic yet understated vibe of the outfit.
I feel like this summer look embodies the modern classic style that Talbots is known for, don’t you? It’s perfect for brunch with friends, an afternoon of shopping, wine tasting, or drinks on the patio on a warm summer evening.

Question for the Nordy sale. Where at check out can you choose to pay for the shipping rather than use the free shipping? I have looked everywhere on the checkout page and now remember that I gave up looking for it last year when placing my order.
Hi! When you get to the check out page on the left hand side there will be somewhat of a box with a small photo of the items you’re ordering. I believe just below the pictures there’s a tiny line, in blue writing, that says change shipping speed. Click those words. An option page will pop up and you’ll be able to select 2 day or overnight. It’ll also show you the items in your order that will arrive within the timeframe you select.

You look wonderful! 20 years ago when my husband and I first got married, I worked at Talbots. Just before we moved back “home”, I bought the cutest Talbots purse. I passed it on about 2 years later, and I’ve often regretted it since! 😂🙈
