New Series on the Blog: Accessorizing

In conjunction with my new gig as a Stella & Dot stylist and because I was inspired by all the comments and questions on my giveaway post, I’m starting a series on accessorizing.

Why accessorizing?

I’ve always struggled a bit with accessorizing. I’m a simple girl. For years, I had a few nice pieces of jewelry that I wore all the time. When in doubt, I will leave it off. Less is more, my mama always taught me. Which is why I was cracking up at some of the comments in the post where I asked for accessorizing tips. Those of you who say you have to limit yourself to a certain number of accessories or always take one thing off . . . that’s so the opposite of me! I usually feel like I need more.

I’ve been working hard to get better at accessorizing in recent years, and I plan to share what I’m learning with you because I know a lot of you admitted to struggling with this side of fashion as well. I’ve never thought of myself as a fashionista or an expert. It doesn’t come easily to me, but I like to shop, and I feel like I’m finally figuring out what works and what doesn’t. It’s high time, I guess! I’m almost 42, after all.

Accessorizing is an area where I’ve grown a lot, but I have a lot left to learn. Which is one of the reasons I signed on to be a Stella & Dot stylist. They provide lots of opportunities to learn about new styling techniques and will keep me current on the latest trends.

Here’s what I love about accessories:

  1. They always fit. If I gain a few pounds or don’t like my current size, my accessories still fit.
  2. Accessories come at every price point. I will feature what I have, but you can easily find similar versions at your favorite shopping haunts.
  3. Accessories can quickly and easily update your wardrobe. Not everyone has the finances or the desire to update their wardrobe with every new trend. You can keep a very basic, classic wardrobe and change it up with accessories. It’s an affordable way to stay on trend.

My Stella & Dot Order

My first Stella & Dot order came in and I’m so excited. Here’s what I ordered.

I also did a video to show each piece… and it’s a bit on the lengthy side. I’m trying to get better at that!

Over the next few weeks/months I will address different topics and questions that were raised in previous comments. If you have any questions or topics you’d like to see me cover, feel free to leave them in a comment below, or you can email me at any time through the “Contact” link in the menu at the top of my blog.
