Best of 2022: My Favorite Purchases

Hi friends! We’re continuing with the 2022 recap posts today. I’ve done your favorite products and your favorite posts based on my analytics and sales data, but this is what I consider my top ten best purchases from the past year.

My Favorite Purchases from 2022

These are all items I purchased this year and wore a lot, so even if they’re pricey, the cost per wear is basically nill. Plus almost everything in this list was purchased on a good sale, so keep that in mind if the sticker shock gets to be a bit much, lol! All links and commentary is below the pictures.

#1. Paige Claudine Ankle Flares (28) // These jeans were actually purchased at the very end of 2021, but they were delivered in January, and that’s when I started wearing them. They were too new when I did my Best Purchases of 2021 to know how essential they would become in my wardrobe, so I thought they deserved a spot in this post.

They’re still available, and I’d buy them again in a heartbeat if they got lost or ruined in some way. They are the perfect off-black wash, and the proportions are right on point. The raw hem and ankle length keeps them modern and a bit edgy. Such good jeans! They’re true to size, or size down if in between.

#2. Jenni Kayne Fisherman Sweater (S) // I ordered this sweater last January when it was 25% off to see what all the fuss was about, and I ended up keeping it and wearing a ton. It’s just such good quality, and it’s a classic style that I can have for years.

If you’re interested in an option for less, check out the Quince version. You can see the two side by side in my Cashmere Sweater Reviews. (Spoiler Alert: I don’t care for their shade of ivory so much, but it also comes in other colors. The grey is really good.)

#3. Mother The Mid-Rise Dazzler Ankle Fray (29) // This is the year I discovered the Mother Dazzler – a slim, straight-leg jean that has replaced my beloved skinnies. I ordered a few pairs in various washes and sizes last January, and I ended up keeping this pair and wearing them a ton.

I liked them so much that I added the white pair to my wardrobe in March. I like how they have a clean, traditional hem so they’re easy to dress up or down, and the fit is so good.

For a while I wore them interchangeably with the Good American Good Straight, which I still think is a great pair of jeans. But for some reason, I ended up wearing the Dazzler a lot more. I think it’s the lower rise, and the less structured feel of the denim. Both are great jeans, though, if you want a pair of white slim straight ankle jeans.

also wearing: Mother Insiders (28) // Boden bucket bag

#4. 525 Cotton Cable V-Neck Pullover c/o (S) // This sweater is no longer available, but I have to include it because it’s one that I wore so much during the spring and summer. I particularly like how cute it is with denim shorts (see #5 below), but it’s also great with jeans as shown here. Just an easy, breezy, summer sweater in the perfect neutral oatmeal color.

#5. 7 For All Mankind Midroll Destroy Denim Shorts c/o (28) // I wore these shorts to death last spring and summer. They’re the perfect destructed cuffed jean shorts in the softest denim… so comfortable, and easy to pair with t-shirts and casual sweaters. There are just a few sizes left, so you may be able to snag a pair if you like them. They run big, so you can size down if in between.

#6. Dolce Vita Grazie Braided Slide Sandal (8) // I absolutely ADORE these sandals! I wore them constantly last spring and summer, and I can’t wait to bring them otu again. I hope they continue to sell them.

The molded footbed is comfortable and supportive, the braided strap is right on trend, and the Cafe color is the perfect shade of taupe… they look amazing with a tan!

These are currently in stock and ON SALE for $36!!!! I’m tempted to grab a backup pair, although mine still look almost new, despite all the wear and tear I put them through last summer.

#7. Eileen Fisher Organic Pima Cotton Stretch Jersey Tank Dress (XS) // This is such a good classic dress, and the quality is outstanding. I love how easy it is to dress up or down.

also wearing: Athleta Inlet Jacket & Flurry Seamless Turtleneck

#8. Athleta Altitude Pant in Polartec Power Stretch (S) // These are probably my best athleisure purchase of the year; I just got them a couple months ago, but I’ve been wearing them SO much. We’re having a very cold winter, and I wear them almsot every day to walk the dog, and sometimes just around the house with a cozy sweatshirt or cashmere hoodie for an athleisure look.

also wearing: Evereve Stella Stripe Pullover // Dolce Vita Vikram Boots (8; Volli is similar and on sale)

#9. Mother Weekender Mid-Rise Flare Jeans (29) // I think I have to include another pair of Mother Denim in this list. I have several pairs of blue jean flare and bootcut styles I’ve purchased this year, like the AG Farrah Boot (super high rise and too snug in the belly) and the Mother Hustler in Au Revoir (love, but sometimes shorter than I want.)

But it wasn’t until I got this pair that I have a pair that I want to wear all. the. time. The others are all good, but now that I have these, I select them over the others almost every time I’m wanting to wear blue denim flares. The 31″ inseam is perfect for wearing with all my various heel heights, and the 10″ mid-rise is comfortable to me, but it’s also the fit and feel of the denim. They are just so good.

#10. Dolce Vita Volli Boots (8; also at Zappos) // I went to my clsoet to pick some favorite shoes from the year, and I realized that most of the ones I wear are from previous years, except these booties, which I LOVE. They look amazing with the Mother Weekenders, but I also like them with the Dazzler — pretty much any blue denim works great with this Dune Nubuck color.

Ok, that’s a wrap! I hope you’re enjoying your holiday week. Stay well out there!

  1. All outfits are such good looks! My usual size 7 is sold out in the DV beige sandal, are they pretty true to size? Wondering if I should size up or size down for this amazing price, have been wanting them all summer but never took the plunge. Thanks!

  2. Some of your favorites are also my favorite, like the Mother Weekender. I did have to cut a bit off, as I am only 5’1”. I have the same AG ones you mentioned, but I mostly choose the Mother. I have had my eye on the Paige Claudine, and if they were on sale, I would probably go ahead and purchase them. I hope you will let us know when Bloomingdales has another sale. I usually like the same jeans as you do.

  3. I wore my Volli boots with bootcuts out to dinner last night, and they looked great. i love them. They look more expensive than they are.

Now I’m eying some other things on your list…

  4. I finally bit the bullet on the Mother Dazzlers. Oh my, are they the best jeans ever! Great for pear shapes as they hug in all the right places and feel so comfy on. Love the versatile blue color and the mid rise (can’t do anything over 10 1/4″ rise due to short waisted). I’m going to keep my eye on the white ones for summer.

  5. I have looked everywhere and I cannot find the socks that you recommended recently. There were three different heights…bootie, no show and sneakers. Can you let me know what company that was when you have a chance?

  6. I just ordered the Dolce Vita Grazie slides. Lol! I’ve liked them for a while and that price is too good to pass up!

  7. I’m so grateful for your blog! I may not be able to read it every day but when I need something – I love being able to access your posts and get the info I need! I just ordered those Dolce Vita boots for a steal! I was looking for a shorter heeled boot and these look perfect! The older I get- comfort is more important than anything! 🙂
