My 22 Favorite Outfits from 2022

Hi there, happy Friday! Do you have any fun plans for the New Year’s Eve weekend? Today I’m rounding up my 22 favorite outfits from 2022.

These are all looks that I love and feel represent my personal style, as well as the current trends and where fashion is going right now.

Of course, by now a lot of these items are low inventory or sold out, but I went ahead and linked everything I could find in case anyone wants to hunt them down on eBay or Poshmark.

My Favorite Outfits from 2022

#1. This first outfit is a date night look from last January. I pulled together an all-black outfit with my new-at-the-time Paige Claudine ankle flares, and I topped it off with my faux leather puffer.

The burgundy suede pumps make it fun and keep it classy, and my onyx necklace was a Christmas gift from Paul last year.

Also, this classic Vince Weekend V-neck Sweater is 30% off right now! It’s one of my favorite wardrobe staples; I also have the grey.

#2. This picture is from my trip to Florida last February. I wore this sweater and shorts combo a gazillion times last spring and summer, as well as separately with different pieces. For that reason, both are also included in my Best Purchases of 2022.

#3. I’m always a sucker for a Marrakech moto jacket, and this one is so soft and comfy. I was just getting comfortable with the straighter denim styles at that point, and I put this outfit together to meet a friend for lunch on a mild day in March.

These jeans are really good for a straight ankle jean in more of a rigid, vintage wash. I found a similar wash at Bloomies, since these are almost sold out.

#4. Every time I happen by a picture of me wearing this coral denim jacket, I stop my scroll, so I knew I had to include one of them in here. I just love this crisp, bright, summery color combo of pink and white and denim… and these sandals are one of my favorite purchases of the year! I wore them almost every day all summer long.

Sadly, this coral color (yes, it’s more pink in person) is gone, but there are lots of other colors in this popular jacket. I actually have the chestnut, tarragon, and the coated black as well!

#5. We went to the beach in June, and I might have gone a bit overboard buying new swimsuits! I was so thrilled to be able to shop at regular stores after my surgery. I think I brought 6 or 8 with me, but this one is probably my favorite.

#6. And this is what I wore for my 50th birthday party in July. I didn’t really have an outfit planned, so that morning I tried on a few options. I had purchased this dress on a whim when I saw it on sale at Saks OFF 5TH, and it was hanging on my rolling rack until I decided whether to keep it or return it.

It turned out to be the perfect solution for this event! I wanted something that made me feel special, but since it was a backyard pool party in July, it couldn’t be too over-the-top. I think this worked out perfectly.

#7. And then I wore this dressy look when Paul took me to our favorite French restaurant for my birthday dinner the following week. Again, I wanted to look extra special, and I rarely get an opportunity to dress up this much so that was fun. You may remember, this Vince dress was an #NSale purchase.

#8. This outfit is simple, but I found myself grabbing these pieces and throwing them together several times last summer for church or date nights. The navy and white is so crisp and clean for summer, and the fit of each of these pieces is really flattering.

#9. July also brought us the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I styled this fall outfit on a very hot July morning, and it’s still one of my favorites. I love this bomber jacket and I’m so sad it sold out.

#10. I really love the sweater vest trend this year, and this is an outfit I styled with a sweater vest and shorts. I also love the sweater vest with cropped flares and straight leg jeans. I’m also happy to see longer shorts trending.

#11. And I love this casual summer look from last August, with my Lazy Lake Daze graphic tank and white jeans with the turquoise sandals. Just casual and cute and fun.

I wore this tank so much in the short time I had it, and I can’t wait to break it out again next summer. You can’t go wrong with any of the Chaser tees and tanks – so soft and comfy.

#12. Moving into fall, I styled this brown and black combo for the blog. Yes, it’s that same KUT from the Kloth Kara jacket that I showed above in the coral. This chestnut color just screams FALL! and the off-black ankle flares are modern and edgy and fun. I also like how this outfit incorporates one of the bracelets from my Victoria Emerson collection!

#13. And while we’re talking about that jacket, I love this outfit as well. The graphic tee and Veja sneakers gives off that casual-chic vibe that I like so much, and the fitted jacket is flattering and helps balance the look.

#14. I love this rust ribbed top for fall; I wore it a few times with different jeans, but I think my favorite was this outfit I wore to dinner one night with girlfriends.

#15. This is one of my quintessential travel outfits; I wore this home from Nashville last October. It’s such a great play on a classic white tee and jeans.

#16. This is the outfit I wore the night we went down to Broadway on that Nashville trip. I wore this moody floral top a ton last summer and fall because it’s so easy to dress up or down.

#17. And I love this festive fall look with brown coated mom jeans. I wore something similar to this to see the Tina Turner Musical in Philly over Thanksgiving break. This is a great price for this bag, by the way!

#18. I had to include this fall outfit too, even though I didn’t wear it more than once IRL. I did wear every component quite a bit, though. I really like the combination of light wash denim with the ivory sweater and the cognac accents. Plus, I find the overall proportions really pleasing to the eye.

#19. I visited my mom in Maine back in November, and it was the first time I got to really dress for winter. I just brought some of my favorite winter basics, and I love how this whole outfit looks, especially with the coat and scarf.

#20. And I had to include one more all black look… I just love everything about it, from the coated black bootcut jeans to the luxe suede booties to the ribbed button-up cardigan. Even the oversized square sunglasses add an important element of chic to this look. It’s so chic in a minimalistic way.

Vince wool & cashmere cardigan (S; option) // Joe’s Jeans coated bootcut jeans (29) // Vince suede booties (8) // rag & bone sunnies // Marc Jacobs Leather Hobo Bag // similar Kendra Scott earrings

#21. I wanted to be sure to pick a holiday outfit for this roundup, and this green blouse is Christmassy without being too predictable. It pairs perfectly with these elegant black pants for a boozy lunch with my hubby.

I would have worn my faux fur jacket if it was a nighttime, but it seemed like a lot for lunch, and the boucle wool car coat adds an element of sophistication and keeps it daytime appropriate. It’s a really nice one; I find myself wearing it a lot right now, and it’s currently on sale for $149 and then 25% off with code BUNDLED!

CeCe blouse (S) // Vince pants (M) // Marc Fisher Zala Pumps (8) // Andrew Marc coat (S) // Yurman earrings & necklace

#22. And finally, my NYE party look! I’m hoping I get up the gumption to wear this tomorrow night to host a party here at our house. It’s a bit much, but then again, it is New Year’s Eve, and the first NYE party we’ve been able have since Covid, so I think it deserves a little extra sparkle!

Ok, that’s a wrap! If you made it to the end, you deserve a cookie… or a glass of wine, or something! I’d love to know which ones are your favorites too!

  1. I loved so many of those outfits and how put together you looked. I recently read some post by a middle aged woman who was ripping on people our age trying to be stylish. She claimed it was time to quit tucking in shirts or following trends that are meant for our daughters and I thought, she just needs to see how it can be done right by people like you. I love getting insights from your informative posts and I never feel like I’m trying to look like my daughter. I’m just trying to be the best version of myself. That’s what your blog helps us do.

  2. Go for the sparkles for New Year’s Eve, Jo-Lynne! I usually wear coated jeans and a sparkly top. Footwear is always an issue for me for the small NYE party we have most years. We don’t wear shoes in our house.

For those who don’t wear shoes, what do you wear if you get a bit dressed up? I’ve tried satin or velvet slipper-type shoes like Birdies but they don’t work because they’re too flat and uncomfortable on my finicky feet. I keep thinking I should just buy a pair of indoor black boots with a comfy heel and make them my indoor shoes for such occasions. I normally wear spendy slippers or flip-flops with support to keep my plantar fasciitis at bay.

    1. This may be none of my business, but assuming you don’t wear shoes in your house for hygiene reasons, could you wipe the soles of one of your favorite dressy heels with Lysol? Just a thought. 😊

  3. My favorites are 2, 3, 8, 10, 14, 15 and 22, which you definitely SHOULD wear for NYE!

If I had to pick just one favorite, it would be 14. So elegant! I am really into bootcuts and flares lately.

  4. Jo -Lynne- You look amazing in all of the outfits and everything you post here and on Instagram! I enjoy following you so much. Of all of the bloggers that I follow, I feel like you’re the most genuine. You ABSOLUTELY have to wear your sparkly top to your NYE party! You look so FESTIVE in it! I have a fashion question- I have yet to wear my full length Mother denim flares. I keep getting hung up on what shoes to wear with them! I know to wear boots, but what about “every day” shoes for just going on errands? I like a comfortable shoe to wear when just out and about running errands and I don’t know what to wear! Flats? Sneakers look so-so to me. Not my favorite… I did look at your post, but I don’t see anything not so dressy… HELP! 🙂

  5. I love these all and I love you sense of style. It’s trendy but classic and you keep it real. My favorites are 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19 and 22. I couldn’t pin it down to just a few! And you should wear that NYE outfit!

  6. Love this post JoLynne! Perfection as always, I love reading your posts EVERY day! Happy New Year to you and look forward to seeing what you have for us in 2023! 🙂

  7. Fun post. I was lucky enough to purchase the Kut Kara fall jacket & wore it a ton! Took it on a fall road trip from Chicago out to Acadia, via Adirondacks & back. Super versatile & great fall color.
Wear that gorgeous outfit NYE for sure. It is stunning & upscale tee for your party. I think it’s perfect! Love the pants too. Happy NY. Thanks for keeping us looking fabulous.

  8. My favorite of all is #18. You should have worn that combo more. Keep it all and wear next Fall. The look is perfect. My style. I also picked out #11 and #17. 😌I liked them all but picked these 3.

  9. Outfits 9 and 21 (but, also, love the puffer jacket of the first! — though instead, I think, paired with leggings: as a way for a kind-of “age-friendly-version” of edgy/rock ‘n roll style LOL).

  10. I like all the black flare and bootleg jeans the best. I bought the chestnut jean jacket. I think you should definitely wear the last outfit at your party. I agree with the comments about you being so genuine. I enjoy your blog so much. Happy and blessed New Year.

  11. My favorites are 12, 13, 17 and 18 but they are all nice. I kept waiting for the green sweater dress to be one of your favorites. It was a great look on you.

  12. 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22. Wow, that’s a lot of favorites! I hope you do wear the NYE outfit! I’m trying to put my outfit together as well lol. Happy New Year!

  13. Love this post, a year in review!! I finally ordered the Dolce Vita slides for that $36 price and they arrived from Nordstroms in TWO days! And I just looked again on the website, and the sandals are $49 today! Wow, glad I ordered them when I read your post!! I do really like them, but found them a little on the narrow side. I hope they stretch just a little.
Have a happy New Year’s Eve celebration with your people. At least it’s mild here in the Philly area. No need for heavy coats. Looking forward to all that’s new in 2023!

  14. All of these outfits are wonderful, but I think you look particularly lovely in the two different dresses you wore to celebrate your 50th birthday.

Thank you for all of your hard work on the blog- it is much appreciated! Happy New Year!

  15. My favorites are 12 & 17. I love the color pairings in both, especially chestnut and black together. Also I like that these both keep up with the new shoe/Jean trends without looking too trendy (the wide leg jeans and flares can look sloppy if not done right). Also I wanted to give you a pat on the back for branching out more the past couple years with new styles, as well as more color/pattern. Can’t wait to see more in the coming year!

  16. Could you show some outfits with the sweater vest? I bought one and now don’t really know how to wear it 😑
