Black & Denim with Clogs

Hey there. Hope your week is going well. I was supposed to publish a different post this morning, but I’m still waiting for approval from the brand, so I whipped up this outfit post. Thank goodness I had a few outfits in my queue! This is a casual everyday look that I will be wearing a ton this fall.

I picked up this top at a local shop when I was shopping with a friend, and I was so happy to find it online so I can link to it.

It has a waffle texture and dolman sleeves and a banded waist, and it’s on the shorter side at 22″ long.

I do find myself needing to pull it down occasionally as I move around in it, but it doesn’t bother me too much. It works really well with my higher waisted jeans. I have the small, for size reference.

Here’s a back view. You can see the exposed seams on the dolman sleeves. It adds some detail and helps keep the look effortlessly casual.

These jeans are nothing new to you regulars  these were my first pair of Mother Insiders… the ones that started it all, haha!

This pair has such a great wash and distressed details. I realize they may be a little too rag-tag for some people, and at first I wasn’t even sure I could pull them off, but now I love them.

I also really like the way they’re fitted through the hips and thighs and then flare below the knee. I find this silhouette more flattering than a relaxed straight cuts that are trending right now.

I love these jeans with sandals, and even sneakers, but I was wondering how these were going to translate to fall. They seemed a little too rugged for a tailored shoe like a loafer, or even some of my mules, but then I tried them with these UGG clogs!

The 70′-s inspired styling of the clogs complements the boho vibe from the distressed kick flares, and I feel like they work together in a way that is modern with a fun retro flair.

These clogs are also very comfortable. They are shaped in a way that sort of hugs the foot, making them easier to keep on your feet. They also have a padded footbed with cozy UGGplush and sheepskin lining. They also come in this gorgeous chestnut color. Definitely size up, if ordering. I needed the 9.

Because the outfit is quite simple, I added these hammered metal drop earrings to create a focal point and bring attention up to my face.

And finally, there’s that leopard tote again! I know, I can’t quit it. But again, the outfit is simple, so the pattern on the bag really helps pop the look. Unfortunately, it appears to have sold out.

Oh, and I also added a Victoria Emerson boho cuff. I’ve been wearing this so much lately. I love the mix of black and brown and metals.

Scroll on down to shop this look, and stay tuned for that post with Backcountry. Hopefully it will be up later today.

  1. Love this look on you! and agree with the comment on straight cut jeans! I’ll be honest and say that I’ve tried the straight jean a few times in store and Honestly just find them to be too much bulk and material ! I think for me until I find the magic pair I’ll stick to skinny’s!

  2. Just adding to the chorus of love this look! You look great and I love how you’ve balanced the shapes. I mean what’s not to like about black, denim, clogs and cute accessories?

  3. Hello all!
I’m new here so I’m not too familiar with everything yet. I too love your outfit but I especially love the bag you’re carrying. Would you tell me where I could find one?
    Thank you!
    Brenda

  4. I love this look so much but I was wondering if you have any suggestions for this style of jean for someone on a tighter budget?

  5. i do like the look today and black and denim are a fav. But I cannot like that bag. I know it is outrageously expensive but it just slouches all wonky and I do not like that particular purse. If you could find some that have the spots etc but not slouch, I would love it.

  6. That top looks great. I would like to add a pair of kick flair jeans to my closet, especially if I can find them in black.

  7. Jo-Lynne, sorry to be reaching out on such an old post! It’s unseasonably warm here in south Louisiana, and tomorrow is my oldest’s birthday. I was trying to put together an outfit similar to this one because I want to get some more wear out of my clogs! I ordered these earrings, but I got the gold. Are your’s the gold or silver ovals, do you remember?
