Fall Activewear Refresh with Backcountry

I’ve had some requests for fall activewear and workout gear, and I’ve been finding a lot of great options lately at Backcountry. Not only do they carry a wide selection of outdoor brands and products, but they have some of my favorite activewear brands, such as Sweaty Betty, Alo Yoga, Brooks, Nike, and more.

If you’re looking to update your workout wardrobe or need a few cozy casual pieces for sitting on the sidelines of the ball field on the weekends, this post is for you!

These Sweaty Betty Power Sculpt 7/8 Workout Leggings are one of my favorite pairs, and I have quite a few! They fit and flatter like no other, and I love the high waist and the sweat-wicking, quick-drying performance fabric with four-way stretch. They stay in place and don’t slide down, even during an intense run.

The 7/8 length is about a 25″ inseam, which gives them a trendy crop look that is also practical. They also have a side pocket to stow your phone energy gels and a zippered center back pocket for stashing a car key or cash.

I’ve had these leggings for a couple years, and they still look new. I wear them regularly during three seasons of the year for running, strength training, and sometimes just a casual everyday athleisure look. I always wash them on cold and hang to dry.

This cozy hoodie is also by Sweaty Betty. It’s the Harmonise Luxe Sweatshirt, and the fabric is divine. It feels so soft against the skin. I actually wore it one day last week even though it was like 80 degrees outside because I was feeling chilly here in the house.

It also fits easily over top a workout tank for a cute post-workout look, and the funnel neck will keep my chest and neck warm when dashing to and from the car. Here’s another option, if you prefer a longer length.

And I just discovered that Backcountry carries my favorite Brooks Ghost running sneakers. These are the latest model of this popular style. I noticed my others were feeling a little short in the toes, so I grabbed these in a half-size larger, and they’re perfect. I also love the Peacoat/Yucca/Navy color way.

I’m also wearing these Smartwool Performance Run Ultra Light Micro Running Socks in the black. I usually wear thicker socks when I run, but I like these ultra-light running socks for a change. The merino wool is designed to repel odors, and they’re moisture-wicking so my feet don’t get hot and sweaty, even when I wear them for hours at a time.

Back when I was training for my first half-marathon, a friend turned me on to Tifosi sport sunglasses, and now this brand is all I wear when I run. They are remarkably lightweight, and they stay in place and never slide down my nose, not even on the hottest and sweatiest of runs.

My white ones are quite a few years old, so I grabbed myself a new pair in the Carbon/Smoke.

And I can always use another water bottle. I like these lightweight BPA-free polymer water bottles with the squirt top for carrying with me on my neighborhood walk/runs.

This outfit is also perfect for a casual day at home or for sitting on the sidelines at one of the kids’ ball games. Who says a sweatshirt has to look schlumpy? I love how this one is practical but also makes a chic fashion statement.

I also picked up this cozy FP Movement Hit The Slopes Sweatshirt for when it gets colder later this fall. I’m always freezing at Friday night football games and marching band cavalcades, and this fleece quarter button sweatshirt will be perfect for throwing on over my t-shirt with jeans.

It’s also a nice piece to have to wear over my performance top when I’m going to and from my gym workouts, or for taking a walk in the woods on a Saturday morning.

There are a lot of state parks and hiking trails in our area, and now that life has settled down a bit and Paul is feeling better, we’re hoping to get out there and enjoy them this fall.

I’ve spent way too much time inside as of late, and I’m looking forward to getting outside and finding my own backcountry… if you’ll pardon the pun!

  1. Finally ordered the cami with the v front and back that you have in ivory, black and black and white print. I’m trying the ivory first for size and then might order another color. Thanks for the recommendation. I need something for my cardigans and blazers. I like that you said it was bra friendly. I’m 5’3″ and about 118-120 lbs. and ordered the XS.

  2. PS Backcountry is new to me. Cyndi featured it once too and I had never heard of it. No stores near me that I know of. You look great in this post.
