What I Wore Lately Vol. 63

Hi, friends! Somehow it’s Wednesday again, so I’ve rounded up what I wore lately. I didn’t realize until I went to put this post together how many times I wore the same few pieces over the past couple of weeks. Ooops!

Oh, well. This is real life I’m living here, after all. When I find something I love, I want to wear it all the time. Anyone else?

For size reference, I’m 5’5″, and I usually take a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, and size 8 shoe. I added my sizes beside the various items I’m wearing, in case you’re trying to decide which size to order.

What I Wore Lately: Two Weeks of Casual Outfits

This first picture is one you may have seen in a recent try-on haul. I loved these jeans so much when I tried them on, I ripped the tags off and wore them for the rest of the day. I have a full review of in this post.

I did, however, play around with my footwear. I can’t remember why I wasn’t sure about the Sam Edelman loafer mules. I do like them, but I decided to try the outfit with these Dr. Scholl’s sandals.

I also added a necklace and swapped out the delicate link bracelet for this VE Faro boho cuff. This is one of my favorites, and it’s 40% off today! Victoria Emerson is doing a site-wide 40% off sale, if you’re interested.

For some reason, it felt a bit much for where I was going, so I ended up wearing my YSL espadrilles. I was able to score these on sale a few years ago, and the retail price has gone up since I purchased them, so I linked a similar pair below.

I like how the army green leather backpack adds an element of sophistication and incorporates another muted color to the outfit. The backpack was an #NSale purchase, so hopefully it will go on sale again at some point.

The next day, I had a hair appointment, so I threw on this comfy outfit. Here’s the before…

and the after. There’s nothing like a fresh cut and color!

I also wore this to the high school football game that night to see my daughter play in the marching band.

Maine sweatshirt (local shop) // Mother Insider crop flares (28) // P448 sneakers (39) // Lagos earrings & bracelet

The next day was Saturday, and I ran some errands. This denim jacket is a new addition. The Vince Camuto that I wore for years finally discontinued, so I picked up this KUT from the Kloth version so I have one I can link… and it is already low inventory.

I have no idea if it’s a staple in their lineup that they will restock or not. I tried, y’all. I tried. That’s all I know to say anymore. Inventory issues are drying me bananas. #firstworldproblems

ATM tee (M) // Paige Mayslie joggers (27; similar for less) // denim jacket (S) // TB sandals // Lagos earrings // Yurman bracelet

Pardon the sweat, but I figured I’d keep it real and show what I usually wear to go running… or run/walking as it usually goes these days.

Sweaty Betty tank (M) // Brooks running shorts (M) // Brooks Ghost running shoes (9.5)

We went out to eat the next day — Paul’s first restaurant outing post-surgery. I first put on this outfit, but it felt a little much for a casual lunch with the family.

snake print tank (S) // Mother Insider crop flares (28) // Jeffrey Campbell slides (7.5)

So then I tried the same top with light wash jeans and more casual flat sandals. FYI, these jeans run small. I recommend sizing up one if ordering, and same for the shoes.

snake print tank (S) // Mother Insider crop flares (29) // Sam Edelman flip flops (8)

I just wasn’t feeling the snake print top, so I switched to this short-sleeved sweater and mules.

Vince sweater  (S) //  Mother Insider crop flares (29) // mules (7.5; similar for less)

But I ended up in flats. You know how some people have FOMO (fear of missing out)? I think I have FOBOD (fear of being over-dressed). LOL!

Vince sweater (S) // Mother Insider crop flares (29) // Vince Camuto flats (7.5) // VE bracelet // Madewell link earrings

Both shoes are comfortable, but we ended up doing a good bit of walking, so I was glad I had opted for the flats.

The next day was Monday. It was like 85 degrees outside, but I was chilly in the house, so I threw on my new Sweaty Betty sweatshirt and these Vuori camo leggings to work at home.

This sweatshirt is super soft and cozy, but on the thinner side, which I like. And these leggings are nice and thick but buttery-soft. Highly recommend both pieces for upscale athleisure.

But then our Internet went down, and I decided to go find free WiFi at Starbucks. I switched into this old faithful outfit. Not that I couldn’t have worn the other outfit, but it was too hot to wear the sweatshirt, and I just feel better in real pants.

snap detail tank (sold out) // Mother Insiders (28) // Marc Fisher sandals (8) // Yurman link bracelet

I was a total schlump the next day, and there is no photographic evidence. You are welcome.

I had a photo shoot last Wednesday, and I wore this for the rest of the day to work at home. Yes, even the shoes. Evidently my FOBOD (fear of being over-dressed) doesn’t apply to inside the house, ha!

ATM cheetah tee (old; similar Amazon dupe) // Frame Le High Crop Straight (28) // Dr. Scholl’s sandals (8) // Yurman bracelet and earrings

I did have a Zoom call with my assistant, so being somewhat dressed up made me feel more professional. I have to take it where I can get it!

Most of the next day was spent at home, and I wore this comfy outfit.

Michael Stars muscle tank (S) // AGOLDE jeans (28) // Veja sneakers (39) // similar earrings // Yurman bracelet

Then Friday was my regular mani/pedi appointment, and you’ve seen all this before.

Free People camo tee (S) // Mother Insiders  (29) // TB sandals

I went out to dinner last Saturday night with friends, and I thought I wanted to wear this sleeveless sweater. I tried it first with the grey Mother Hustlers and Dr. Scholl’s sandals.

French Connection sweater (S) // Mother Hustler ankle flares (28) // Dr. Scholl’s sandals

I don’t love the sandals with these jeans, for some reason, so I tried the braided mules.

This works, and I don’t know why I didn’t wear it. I actually like this a lot. The sweater makes me look a little top heavy, and the flares provide a nice balance. And the shoes have the perfect shaft height with these jeans. I’ll definitely wear this outfit sometime soon.

French Connection sweater (S) // Mother Hustler ankle flares (28) // Dolce Vita mules (7.5)

I also tried the Good American Good Legs Cig, which is how I photographed this sweater for the blog a couple weeks ago, but I actually think I prefer the look with the Mother Hustlers and braided mules (above).

Then I remembered the snake print tank that I felt was a little much for lunch with the family the weekend before. I put it on this time with the Frame Le High straight crop jeans in the off-black wash, but I think I might prefer it with the inky black Mother Insiders that I tried it with before. At any rate, this is how I wore it.

Of course, I tried it with a bunch of shoes before I settled on the Vince Camuto ruched flats.

snake print tank (S) // Frame Le High crop straight (28) // Dr. Scholls sandals // hammered metal earrings // VE Alicante boho cuff

The sandals seemed a little clunky to me, and made the outfit look bottom-heavy, or some reason.

The pointy toe mules look more streamlined, and I think they work, but again, they’re dark and a bit heavy with the top (due to the color and fabric, not the styling.)

snake print tank (S) // Frame Le High crop straight (28) // BP. mules (7.5) // hammered metal earrings // VE Alicante boho cuff

So I swapped them out for the taupe ruched flats, and this was the look I ended up wearing.

And I love the hammered metal earrings and Victoria Emerson Alicante boho cuff with this outfit. The mix of metals really complements the snake print blouse.

That brings us to Sunday, and this is what I wore on the plane. This coated denim jacket came in from Evereve that morning (yes, it was delivered on a Sunday… crazy!) and it seemed like the perfect topper for my travel outfit.

Unfortunately, it has already sold out. I swear, I give up. I was so excited to share it with you. I did find a black denim jacket, but it’s not coated.

coated denim jacket (S; option) // ATM tee (old; similar Amazon dupe) // Frame jeans (28) // similar espadrilles // Lagos earrings & bracelet // Away Medium suitcase (old color) // similar tote

I wore this on Monday. Pardon the terrible lighting. It’s basically the same outfit as the one above, just with a white tee and cashmere hoodie, although I think I’d prefer a v-neck tee with this hoodie.

Of course, I generally prefer a v-neck to a crewneck anyway, but my white v-neck tee was dirty so I packed this one.

Quince sweater (S) // ATM tee (M) // Frame jeans (28) // similar espadrilles // Lagos earrings & bracelet

And this is what I wore yesterday. Finally getting to wear some fall clothes!

And that’s it for this edition of What I Wore Lately!

  1. I like these posts because it keeps it real, reminding us that you are just like us. Praying that things are going okay for you this week.

  2. I think it’s pretty cool when I see you wearing things I’ve ordered because of you, and things I really like too. The Paige Mayslie green utility pant—I initially didn’t want to spend that much, and ended up buying 2 different ones I didn’t really like. I finally pulled the trigger and bought them, and I really like them. I wish I had just bought them first. I am trying to remember this lesson. The Vince short sleeved sweater. Love. I have ordered a couple of the Free People tees. Love. The list goes on, but I will stop here. I really like these posts. You keep it real, and also you show the original outfit and explain why you think it didn’t work, and continue from there. Very helpful! Thank you for all of your hard work!

  3. I hear you about being on repeat. While at home (job searching and moving), I have worn the same 3-4 t-shirts every week (with variety other days) and I have worn my new Loden Green Petite high-rise chino cargo pants from J. Crew about 4 days/week. SO comfy, look good, wrinkle resistant. Love, love, love them. Just realized they are on sale for a better price than I got…

  4. Love all your choices, comfortable and classy looking! Those hammered metal earrings are in my cart on Amazon, love them in a few of the mixed metals, just trying to decide! Just noticed the red headed model on the shopping widget, for Evereve. She’s the niece of my neighbor! I’ve seen her in print for so many different companies! What a beautiful & natural redhead!

  5. Coated denim jkt is the bomb! Hoping it’s restocked. Please let me know price? Website not showing price since out of stock. Thank you!
