Black & White Summer Outfit

I know I said I was going to be focusing on fall fashion this month, but we took these pictures last month, and this top sold out before I could post them. Now that the Anni Sale is over, guess what is back and fully stocked? You guessed it!

Trust me, I know how annoying that is. Maybe Nordstrom had them the whole time and were holding them back, but I heard through several sources that a lot of the #NSale inventory didn’t arrive on time because of the global supply chain issues happening right now, so I’m going to assume that had something to do with it.

Whatever the reason, I’m sharing this outfit today because I have the pictures, and these pieces are currently available… albeit at full price.

Quick Links:

I already have this raw edge tank in the black and ivory, and they’re some of my favorite wardrobe staples because they’re cute enough to wear alone, but they also layer under jackets and cardigans so nicely. When I saw it in this black and ivory leopard print at the Anniversary Sale last month, it was one of the first things that went into my cart.

The raw edge detail is really pretty, and I appreciate that the straps are regular bra-friendly. The v-back is also a fun touch. This tank runs true to size; I have the small.

I kept this look simple and paired this black and ivory top with my black cropped bootcut jeans and black strappy heeled sandals for an outfit I’d wear out to dinner or to a blogging event or conference… I can’t wait until we start having those again! I miss those SO much.

I’ve had these jeans for a couple of years but only recently started wearing them more. In fact, they once made one of my Worst Purchases lists, but I held onto them and kept working with them. Once I learned that they pair really well with mules and strappy sandals, I started wearing them a lot.

These slingback sandals look great with both dresses and pants, and I think the design is so pretty. They’re different from anything I have in my closet, and I really like the way that one strap crosses over the foot. It gives some added stability, in lieu of an ankle strap that can visually chop up the leg line and make you look stumpy.

The 2 1/2″ block heel makes them a nice option for ladies who struggle to wear heels but want a little added height. The leather straps are very soft and comfortable against the foot, and they come in narrow, wide, and extra wide widths! That’s virtually unheard of these days. Also, the gold and silver leather are nice options for weddings and dressy events. They run true to size, or size down if in between.

For accessories, I wore this Madewell layered necklace and Kendra Scott double link earrings. And this chain link bracelet is a really pretty piece; it can be layered with other delicate bracelets or worn alone.

I love this necklace and the way it mixes the two metals. The pendant is silver on one side and gold on the other, so you can put it on whichever way works best with your outfit. Since my earrings are gold, I chose to bo with the gold side.

Also, these are three separate necklaces. I don’t have too much trouble with them tangling, but you can get one of these little gizmos if you have trouble with layering necklaces.

This Tory Burch handbag was another #NSale purchase, and it’s a really nice classic everyday size. You can wear it over your shoulder, or carry it over your arm or in your hand with the shorter strap.

The long strap is removable for those times when you want a sleeker look, but I like to have the option, and I don’t mind how it looks when I let it hang. If you like the bag, but the price tag is a bit steep (I got it on sale, not sure I’d pay full price) this Kate Spade hobo is very similar. It’s still an investment, but quite a cost savings over the Tory Burch.

It was so hot the day we shot this look, I didn’t think to add a layer to bring this outfit into fall, but you could certainly throw a denim jacket on top to make it more casual, or you could add a blazer or cardigan for a more conservative office-friendly outfit. A pop of color in the shoes or bag would be another way to change up this look.

  1. Oh my gosh! The Hooters! That’s a blast from the past! I loved the Hooters! Didn’t realize they were still performing! Hope you enjoyed the concert!

  2. Yes, I had the Halogen tank in my Nordstrom’s bag since the beginning of the sale in black, but it “sold out” right away! Don’t want to purchase it now at full price, just the principle of the thing! HAHA! I like the black jeans in the cropped flair. I love to play with different denim styles with different tops and shoes to see what works! Sometimes I’m very surprised how much I will like an outfit! Glad you had fun at the outdoor Hooters concert! Curious minds (mine) want to know, what did you wear?? 🙂

  3. I am glad that Paul’s surgery has been scheduled so that he can get permanent relief and start feeling better! I will definitely keep y’all in my prayers. It sounds like the two of you had fun last night and have a fun night planned for tonight. It’s so hot here, with heat indexes in the triple digits, so it’s pretty miserable outside. As soon as I saw your link to the necklace, I went online and ordered it. Im glad I did because the site said they only had 3 left. The top is so pretty! Have a great day!

  4. I remember when you first got those pants. I commented how much I liked them and you said you were still so unsure about them. Funny how our eyes adjust to new styles and then we can’t remember why we didn’t like them earlier. Glad you kept them! They look fabulous on you!

  5. Love the outfit, these black insider pants are my pick of all of them, they are so neat looking. Any dupes available?

  6. Great outfit! I am glad you didn’t discard the pictures. I got the white one early on in the sale, and the black one came back in my size on the last day. The small in the black and white is sold out, but I put it on my wish list. The tops are simple but pretty at the same time. Still thinking about that sandal. That is my absolute limit for height.
