Hello, friends! TGIF!!! I’m back with Day 8 of 26 Days of Fall Fashion, and I’ve styled a classic combination for fall — a camel and black outfit with a pop of animal print.
This Zip Back Crewneck Cashmere Sweater is available in limited sizes and colors. (Wouldn’t the red be pretty at Christmastime???) It’s also on sale 50% off, bringing it down to $68.98, which is a great price for cashmere. (For size reference, I am wearing the medium, so I believe it runs true to size.)
I love the exposed zipper in the back, the ribbed side panels, the raglan sleeves, and how it’s longer in the back than in the front. Details like these are what sets an item of clothing apart from all the other similar items out there. I mean, camel cashmere pullovers are everywhere, but what I love about this one is all the little details.
Since this one is so low in inventory, I gathered some other camel colored sweaters I thought you might like.
I paired the sweater with my black distressed skinnies. Because it’s such a classic combination, I went with distressed jeans to keep it from being too safe. More affordable options are here and here.
From there, I chose my shoes. I debated wearing a tan or black bootie or maybe my chestnut over-the-knee boots with this camel and black outfit, but then I decided a printed flat was the pop of pattern I needed to take this outfit from classic to fabulous. I love a leopard flat, but these giraffe print lace-up flats are unexpected and fun for a change. Unfortunately, they sold out and I can’t seem to find anything like them to recommend. If you see something, let me know!
I still managed to put a little leopard into the outfit with my watch. I find myself wearing this a lot. I like it paired with the pearl spike cuff. Both are from my Stella & Dot boutique.
I added a long pendant necklace for the reasons I explained in yesterday’s post. When wearing a higher neckline such as a turtleneck or a crewneck, a long pendant draws the eye down and towards the middle of the body, elongating the upper body and creating the illusion of that hourglass figure we all covet.
Since the pendant is fairly plain, I wore hoop earrings with some extra detail. I normally wear plain hoops or simple studs when I wear a statement necklace, but I felt like this combination worked.
I carried a cognac colored bag because I liked how it blends into the golden shades in the top half of the outfit and allows the fun black and white printed shoes to pop. The shoes also have cognac colored straps, which coordinates nicely with this bag. A black bag would have worked too, but I liked this a little better. I am by no means an expert on any of this, but it’s what makes sense to me. Ha!
Finally, this sweater is longer than most that I wear. It’s almost tunic length, but I don’t think I’d wear it with leggings. It’s just a bit too short in the front for my comfort level, and besides, I like how the distressed jeans keep the outfit from being too tailored and sweet.
Zip Back Crewneck Cashmere Sweater (limited sizes/colors; I also really like this and this) // AG Ankle Leggings (budget friendly options here and here) // Ghillie Flats (these and these are also cute) // Leather Shoulderbag (also love this) // Kendra Scott Pendant (this is also cute) // hoop earrings, watch, pearl spike cuff, pave sphinx cuff & ring via my Stella & Dot boutique

I LOVE this! The colors, the style, just love! I think the shoes were the perfect choice. I so wish they would’ve fit me, they are so cute and the perfect color/print.
Love that camel color! Great inspiration! I can ship my closet to create something similar when the weather cools off!
i love it 🙂
Such a great outfit, Jo-Lynne! I have always loved camel and black together. And camel and charcoal gray is another favorite combination of mine (dating back to the 90’s when I worked for Talbots!). I guess a classic color combination remains classic and timeless! Great shoes, too!

Super cute Jo Lynne! I love that classic coloring, but you added a bit of an edge to it!
I LOVE this outfit. I was just thinking yesterday that I wished I had a camel sweater, it’s like you read my mind! And I just ordered distressed black skinnies yesterday too! Definitely will be using this outfit for inspiration.
Thank you for always explaining little details on why certain things work together better than others, like today with the necklace and earrings pairing. I have lots to learn about accessorizing and find this invaluable. Glad everyone made it back to school, hopefully the second half of September will be much smoother lol
I love black and camel together. I also wish I could wear sweaters it’s 90 degrees here in NY. Humidity is crazy I LONG TO WEAR OUTFITS AS CUTE AS THIS!

Great sweater – love all the details on it, especially the back zip!
Love the shoes!
I love this outfit! I love to wear the camel color however it washes me out when next to my neck/face. I’ve learned to pair it with a dark or patterned scarf so I can still wear camel!
I love this classic look! I have similar pieces and will use you as my inspiration whenever it finally cools down. Glad this kiddos are healthy now????
Such a fabulous color combination, with leopard print to boot- LOVE!!

I love this combination of colors. I think black and camel are a perfect pairing. Very cute shoes and I think the bag was a great choice. Can’t wait for the weather to cool down, so I can start wearing these heavier layers. Thanks for posting and for hosting! – Amy

Your sweather is such a pretty colors! I love how you styled it!
LOVE this outfit. Totally my style!! Need to pull out the leopard flats from storage. 🙂 xx-S
LOVE this whole outfit—especially those leopard print flats!!!! XO Susan http://www.agreatnewlook.com
The camel and black colors look great together and the shoes really make the whole outfit…..SUPER CUTE SHOES!!
However, I just don’t like the heavily ripped jeans on you. Yes, I know they’re “trendy” now, but every teenager and 20 something is wearing them. My 20 year old son’s girlfriend wears nothing but ripped jeans, ripped shorts, ripped denim skirts….. So even though I have a pair of cut-knee black jeans ( and I’ve worn them several times thinking I looked really cute, 🙂 I have now stopped wearing them because I think that a woman over age 40 looks messy in ripped clothing unless you’re just working around the house or running errands.
I think this outfit would be much better with a regular pair of black skinny jeans especially with the classic look and fit of the sweater.
LOVE those shoes!
Love this outfit!
Random question…..what brand/color of lipstick are you wearing? It looks like a perfect everyday fall color.
Thanks!
I think that’s my MAC Spice lip liner (http://bit.ly/22IPo63) with Nars Rosecliff lipstick (http://bit.ly/1QiF9yl) and the Ariana Grande Viva Glam MAC lipglass (http://bit.ly/1VyLv4s). I always layer a liner, lipstick, and gloss. I fill in my lips with the liner so it all stays on longer.
