Casual Transition Look for Spring

Is this the longest Spring on record, or what? I am so ready for shorts and flip-flop weather, but until that arrives, I’ll take the opportunity to wear all the cute spring jackets! Case in point: this casual transition look for spring.

Treasure & Bond jacket // marble wash t-shirt // Paige Cindy straight ankle jeans // Dolce Vita Izabel sandals // Madewell drop earrings // square tag layered necklace // Gucci sunnies (option) // similar tote

When I was shopping at Nordstrom last week, I came across this stand collar cotton twill jacket in the prettiest shade of pink they’re calling coral mauve.

I love the cropped fit and the little details that help level up a casual look. It’s the perfect topper for a t-shirt and jeans during this transition season.

This marble wash t-shirt comes in a bunch of different color combinations, but I think the green/coral is the perfect pairing for this jacket. It’s 100% modal, so it is amazingly soft and has a great drape.

This tee runs a little big, but I still went with my usual small in case it shrinks a bit in the wash. I love the crisp contrast between the clean white jeans on the bottom and the coral and green on top.

These are the Paige Cindy straight ankle jeans in white with a raw distressed hem, and they’re nice and thick with very little show-through.

The straight ankle fit is very on trend right now, and the jagged hems toughen up the sleek white denim for a more casual vibe. For size reference, these jeans seem to run a little small. I sized up to the 29 for a little more wiggle room in the waist area.

I kept my shoes and handbag neutral — these Dolce Vita Izabel studded slides are my favorites so far this spring. I wear them every chance I get. The flat silver studs add a touch of rocker glam to the soft leather straps, and the square toe is very much on trend. These sandals run true to size; I have my usual size 8.

Since the jacket has silver hardware, I accessorized the look with these silver tone beadlink drop earrings and square tag layered necklace.

Everything I’m wearing in this post can be purchased at Nordstrom, with their free shipping and free returns. And don’t forget about their BOPUS (Buy Online Pick Up in Store) and contactless curbside pickup options.

  1. We have already had a few days in the 90’s, most of the days are in the 80’s, and fortunately we are having some more comfortable days with highs in the 70’s. The next two days the high will be in the 60’s – YAY! Oh, I REALLY like this outfit and how you look in it. That tee is fabulous and is trying to get me to add it to my closet. Can I resist!! Make it a great day!

    1. Ha! I can see you in that tee, for sure. #enabler

Glad you’re enjoying the mild weather. When it hits 60, I’ll be in shorts and tank top, working on the deck. LOL.

  2. Your outfit is so pretty. If the shirt is in the green combo online color, it doesn’t do it justice. I can see why you had to see it in person.

  3. Super cute spring outfit. I love wearing light jackets in the spring time. In South Texas we’ve had some warm days but lately it’s been a mix of storms and raining days in between.

  4. Ordered the whole outfit, shoes included, minus the jacket….too warm in New Orleans! I’ve been eyeing the shoes all season and figured might as well. 😍 As always you look great and thank you for the outfit inspiration!

  5. Love this look….wow, so fresh and fun. Our weather here in the Texas panhandle is ridiculous. One day it’s 90, the next 46 high. I’m sooo over the cold weather, but I had to turn the heat back on Monday morning.

I’m looking at my closet trying to figure out what I’m going to change as I’m retiring May 23rd. After 48 years in full time ministry (Children’s Pastor for most of it) I’m retiring. Over the years my need for dressy clothes has changed as time has moved and church offices are more casual, as is ministry times. I love dresses in the spring and summer, but I have a closet full, so I don’t see myself buying many more. So this look today and even more casual will be my goal I think. I’m really excited and terrified all in one body to retire…but I know it’s time.

    You have a great day…Sherli

    1. UGH. Yes, we’ve had the heat on here too. INSANE! I know it’s PA and spring is fickle, but this is getting reeeeally old. LOL! Anyway, I am sure retirement is causing a bag of mixed emotions. Exciting, tho!

  6. I’m wearing faux leather leggings and a sweater today because our high in CO will be 41 degrees! It snowed a little yesterday and will rain all day today. Our spring makes transitioning your closet really hard, lol!

So cute!!! The T looks so much more pink on you than on the website (maybe bc it’s next to the pink jacket?) Either way, I’m a t=shirt junkie…just may buy it!

  7. I love this outfit!! I can’t bring myself to wear the pants with the chewed up hem, but I would wear it with other white jeans. Our weather is mid 70’s to mid 80’s and would be perfect except we’ve had a lot of wind this spring. But I’ll take sunshine and warm any day- even with the wind! Have a blessed day!

    1. Yeah, now that you mention it, the wind has been crazy here too. Even when it’s “nice”, the wind has away of ruining it. Ahhh, spring. Just gotta make it to June!

  8. Is this the forum for complaining about weather, because that’s my hobby, lol. Yes, this has been quite a weird Spring in Northern VA. It’s supposed to be in the low 70s but 50s and 60s with gusty winds is very common. It’s also been very cloudy lately. I swear we’ve had warmer days in March and April! I read that this is a cool Spring (duh!) and last May I remember it didn’t get warm here until right before Memorial Day. I told my husband I’m getting ready to move to FL where maybe I can wear all my cute summer clothes I bought through this blog that I didn’t get to wear last year and can’t yet wear this Spring!

  9. We”ll take some of that rain out here in California, it’s going to be upwards of 99 degrees this week here in the San Joaquin Valley😲 Hope our beautiful forests don’t catch on fire again this year😕. Love your outfit. I have white Jean’s and a jacket that’s similar. But I don’t have that cute t shirt 😏 hmm

    1. I wish I could send you some! I really shouldn’t be grumpy about the rain. We have had just enough to keep our grass green and flowers blooming. It’s the cold, wind, clouds that are getting old. I pray you don’t have forest fires again this season. I can’t imagine living through that.

    2. Hi Karen- Holy cow is it really that hot already in wine country? I’m in Southern California and our weather is the typical 72 degrees with a mild breeze. Hate to brag, but it’s absolutely perfect. ☀️🙌🏻 (Our hottest, driest months are August and September.) We were thinking of planning a trip up to Sonoma or Napa next month….hopefully it dips back into the 80s!

  10. Love this whole look! So fresh and spring like! Now if only the weather would cooperate. Jumping on the weather bah humbug bandwagon, the gusty wind and rain here have been pitsy. There is a 2,200 hectare wild fire west of Edmonton, Alberta so fire season has started already. Air quality is poor. Hoping rain helps the firefighters. What next? I am not a big tie dye fan but this t-shirt is really cute! I saw it on a lady walking by the River Valley and I thought “wasn’t Jo-Lynne featuring this look on her blog post today? Small world. Your new highlights look terrific!

  11. Cutest spring jacket Jo-Lynne! I bought another pair of the DV sandals so I’ll have them in nude and black ….they’re just so good with everything! Thanks for the links.

  12. I love the colors in this outfit! I have a jacket in a similar color – I might need to look into that tee. Hmmm. Our weather is pretty typical for our area. Cold in the mornings and stays cool if it’s raining, and gets a bit warmer if the sun comes out. We don’t get good hot summer weather until July. This is the hardest part of the year for me. But, I do get to wear my cute spring jackets! Ha Ha.
