Friday was a fun day. My husband and I both played hookie and spent the day together. We went shopping and out to lunch. I wanted to wear my black ruffle front peplum jacket and I decided to try to give it a more casual flair. What I discovered is, it’s not really a casual jacket. It’s kind of fussy with the peplum and the ruffles and the notched collar. I tried it with a few t-shirts and ended up wearing it with this white CAbi top. I chose a statement necklace to give the outfit some color.
I wore my new Toms because the color picked up on the pink in my necklace. And plus? They are comfy.
And as you can see, I also debuted my favorite spring handbag, this R Minkoff Cupid Satchel that I scored on a clearance sale last year.
The green is no longer available, but she still makes the Cupid satchel, which is SUCH a gorgeous bag, if you’re in the market for an investment piece. If you watch, you can find some colors on sale as they get discontinued. For example, this nude color is on sale at Shopbop right now for $206.50 . . . and oh my word, what a gorgeous neutral!!!!!!!!! I am having to hold myself back from snatching this bag right up. BUY IT HERE.
Also, the denim color is $254.99 at Zappos but there are only 2 left. It’s definitely an investment piece, but this bag will serve you well. I get compliments on mine constantly, and it’s just fun to carry.
Alrighty then. Movingrightalong.
Friday night I went out with some girlfriends. I decided to change and I tried to dress up my camo skinny jeans but something about this just wasn’t working for me.
Maybe I needed my black pumps rather than the Toms Desert Booties? But I wasn’t comfortable so I switched into my old faithful bootcut blue jeans.
Mine are no longer available, but if you are in the market for a pair of slim bootcut jeans that will go with EVERYTHING, the Emmanuelle by Citizens are fantastic.
At $146, they aren’t an outrageous price for designer denim, but I realize that is out of the budget for some. The Baby Bootcut by Kut from the Kloth is on sale for $61.50 with free shipping.
The top is the Bella Dream Tee from BR. It’s on sale for $19.99!! I bought it as a layering piece, but I’ve actually worn it alone a few times. I like the narrow V-neckline and the pleats on the shoulders. It’s a great basic tee, but it definitely needed something in the neck. I tried this necklace that I’ve had sitting in my jewelry box for ages. It never seems to go with anything, but I thought it worked well with this. Normally I wouldn’t put blue with black, but I like it.
I already had on the orange bracelet and the red clutch so I kept those and added my leopard pumps.
I topped off the whole ensemble with my black leather jacket. Overall, it’s a safe outfit, but as I tweeted out on Friday night as I left the house, Sometimes a girl’s gotta realize her fashion limitations. Ha!
I wore this on Saturday to run errands and hang out with friends. It was warm enough that I didn’t need a full coat (YAY!) so I brought out my favorite denim jacket and wore it with my camo skinnies and a gray tee. See, this is how I like to do camo. They just work better for me with casual outfits. I would have worn my Toms Desert Booties but I felt like they were a bit much for a Saturday outfit so I resorted to my Crocs. They’re comfy, what can I say? I’m trying to be good to my feet.
The necklace is from Studio Jewel. I always love wearing this with denim. And I wore my orange logo wrap bracelet and star bangle again. I love orange with denim.
The bag is an oldie but goodie by Lucky Brand. I’m pretty sure it was another sale purchase, back in the day. I rarely pay full price for my handbags. You can really good good deals if you watch and wait.
Funny thing, this bag. I had it out because I was planning to try to sell it — I’m doing some spring purging and getting rid of some bags I don’t carry very often to make room for my new bucket bag. It was sitting out, waiting to be photographed, and I noticed it and thought it would be perfect with this outfit. Now I’m having second thoughts . . .
What would you do? Stay or sell????
This was a super casual work-from-home and get-the-car-oil-changed day. It was also the day it snowed in March. Gotta luv this winter! Glad I hadn’t put my UGGs away for the season just yet!!!
The black sweatshirt is from Athleta (this Zippy Jacket is quite similar). I wore it over a red tank (Target Long & Lean) for a punch of color. I brought my laptop along to the car dealership so I could work while I waited for my car to get a scheduled tuneup and it made me happy that my laptop bag happened to coordinate so nicely with my outfit so I included it in the picture. LOL!!
And finally, this is what I wore yesterday. I really didn’t go anywhere, but I needed to do my hair and makeup for my Nude Lip post and the leggings and oversized tunic with UGGs seemed comfy. I wore a long gray tank under the tunic because I like the layering effect. And also? My tunic shrunk. Boohoo.
I did run out briefly and grabbed my pink bag. I love teal and pink together.

What did you get your boot cut jeans?
those are so very, very old. they are Joe’s Jeans. 🙂
I love that bag so I say keep it, but if you change your mind, I’d be happy to take it off your hands! 🙂
Love all of these outfits.
Keep that bag. 😉
Just realized why I like your outfits so much…it seems that flowy tops are so popular these days and honestly I don’t find them to be that flattering. You don’t wear them much. I like a t-shirt perked up with a cute jacket or necklace better.
Yeah, I don’t think flowy tops are flattering on most women. I will always remember Stacey & Clinton telling their clients to “lock and load” – that’s what this 40-something momma needs! Structure. 🙂
Your “safe outfit” is my favorite of the week. Classic! Also, I can put that outfit together from what I own.
Thanks! Sometimes safe and classic is best! 🙂
I also love your casual look & am thankful you don’t seem to wear flowing shirts. For me, after being pregnant, I will never wear one if those tops again!! I would like to see your laptop bag though. It looks lovely. I make bags (not to sell or anything) & I love to see different designs for inspiration.
you look greqt .. I love the orange bag very cute
Loving your pops of orange today. I think that’s my favorite spring color. And the blog makeover is gorgeous!
I just got a pair of camo skinnies, so it’s great to see how you styled them. Love the first look with its colorful accessories!
Thanks! They are really fun to wear. 🙂
Great outfits! You had one stylish week!

I don’t think I’ll ever get over my camo skinnies. You continue to style yours so fabulously!
I finally broke down and bought a pair of camo skinny jeans from old navy! Thanks for the inspiration:)
