Daily Mom Style :: 30 Days of Outfits {Week 1}

Daily Mom Style #30DaysOfSummerOutfits

Summer’s here. HOORAY! It better be sticking this time, or else!!! Here’s what I wore this week. And also? I am starting a new challenge.

30 Days of Outfits

I was looking in my closet this morning, and I got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of clothes I own. How is it that I have so much and I wear the same few outfits over and over? So. I decided to issue myself a little challenge. For the month of June, I’m going to wear a different outfit every day for a total of 30 outfits, and I’m going to try to wear as many different items as I can.

Feel free to play along!

I’ll post a linky on July 1st, and you can link up if you decide to post about it! Yes, I know it’s already June 5th. Just take a picture of the clothes if you want; you don’t have to be wearing them. I’m going to post all my outfits to a dedicated Pinterest board: 30 Days of Summer Outfits. Feel free to do the same if you like!

Here are the rules:

  1. Wear a different outfit every day for 30 days. Try to wear as many different pieces from your wardrobe as possible.
  2. You CAN repeat pieces of clothing, as long as you don’t repeat an entire outfit. So you can wear the same jeans twice, but not with the same top. Kapish?
  3. Take pictures each day and post them on July 1st. Then link up to my 30 Days of Outfits carnival. (If it’s too much of a hassle to take a picture of YOU wearing your outfit each day, you can always just take a photo of the clothes by themselves.) It’s super easy to use PicMonkey to make a collage of your outfits. Or if pictures and collages sound daunting, just list what you wore; that’s fine too! I’m easy! This is for fun, not to be stressful. If you don’t have a blog, you can link to a pinterest board that you create.

Okay. So here we go. This first outfit doesn’t really count towards my 30 because I didn’t wear it in June. But it’s Daily Mom Style so I’ll include it in here. Besides, as much as I like this top, I really and truly hope the weather is going to be too warm to wear it again this month!

Day 1: GAP Pink Striped Modal Hoodie and white straight-leg jeans (Citizens) with silver ballet flats (Aldo). Pink and silver bracelet is from Kohl’s.

Day 2: Gray Cotton Pencil Skirt with Orange Tank (both from Banana Republic several years ago) and silver sandals from Target (necklace and earrings by Silpada)

Day 3: Orange Cotton Day Dress from Banana Republic Factory Outlet with yellow ballet flats and gold accessories

I picked up this dress at the outlets last week. I really thought it was longer until I saw this picture. D’oh! I will definitely be sure to always wear it with flat shoes. I think it would be cute with gold sandals; they are currently on my bucket list.

DAY 4: These shorts are a new purchase from the J.Crew Factory Outlets. I debated the purchase because they’re pretty short with a 3″ inseam. I bought another pair in coral in a longer inseam, but I decided to go ahead and spring for these and see how I feel in them. They don’t look as short on as I’d feared. The key, for me, is to do the “front tuck” so the shirt doesn’t hang down too long. This keeps the proportions right.

Day 5: LOFT Embellished Top in black (last season) with cuffed denim Joe’s Jeans shorts (many seasons ago) and pink Lucky Brand thong sandals (Zappo’s last summer). I accessorized with a Silpada mixed stone bracelet.

I’ve always loved the flap pockets on these shorts. They are hands-down my favorite summer wardrobe item. I have to stop myself from wearing them every day.

  1. I love your challenge and I’m excited to see your 30 outfits! I would join this fun, but I don’t have enough clothes right now for summer to join up. I’ll be cheering you on though!

Your orange dress is really fun and looks extremely comfortable. It’s definitely the kind of dress I would buy for myself. It doesn’t look that short either, perfect for summer.

Looking forward to seeing how your daily mom style evolves this summer to incorporate your entire wardrobe. Best wishes to you.

  2. Jo-Lynne, I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and I really enjoy it! I love all the outfits you put together…you inspire me to try it in my own closet! I especially love the orange BR dress – it is adorable and summer-y and looks fantastic with the long necklace. Well done! I can’t wait to see what else you come up with this month!

  3. Your hair has been looking great. I like that length and it’s looking very full and (dare I say) bouncy. 🙂

    1. HA! I just cut it yesterday. LOL. But I do like it at this slightly longer length. Thanks for noticing! With the hair thinning issues I was having, it is quite a relief that it is thickening up again!!!

  4. I’m excited to see your outfits! I might try to join in on this challenge, although I’m likely to forget. 😉 Love that orange color on you–that is one color I just can’t pull off. Those mint shorts are perfect!

  5. LOVE the orange dress. You have such a healthy looking body. Strong and defined. Very beautiful lady!

  6. What a great challenge! I don’t think I could do it 🙂

  7. I just found you via Cyndi’s blog and I am so glad I did! I actually saw your photo in that fabulous orange dress on Pinterest! You are famous(: We have much in common: I am a wife, mom, new blogger, and a follower of Jesus Christ. I started blogging a couple of weeks ago. I just wanted to join in the fun! Blessings to you! 8. As always, I love checking out your outfits! Pretty, stylish, and mom-friendly – love it. I was wondering if you have ever used any of the color-analysis systems, or do you just choose what you like? I love your color-confidence; I am so phobic and spend so much time dithering over color due to seasons and systems – I’m starting to wondering if that’s all baloney! What’s your color system – if any? Thanks!

    1. That’s a good question! Back in the 80s I “had my colors done” – lol – and I was a Winter. But the funny thing is, those are the colors I gravitate towards. I love bold reds, blues, greens, and even the orange that I love to wear is probably more of a “winter” orange – with blue undertones. I do find that when I wear pastels, I don’t feel a good, and I don’t like earth tones, which according to the color analysis, aren’t for me anyway. But I don’t think a lot about it. I just buy what I like, mostly.

  9. Thanks Jo-Lynne, yes that 80’s color analysis left a trauma on women everywhere 😉 Love your approach, and it obviously works as you look great!
