Good morning! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Ours was blissfully uneventful, and once again, I have to say how stunning the fall colors are in our area right now. This is an easy, casual fall outfit that I wore last Saturday to a ladies’ Bible study and then later on to the mall with my daughter. If you ask me, this is the quintessential casual fall outfit. I love everything about it. The combination of brick red and olive with denim and mushroom suede ankle boots is perfect for this time of year.
The sweatshirt tee from LOFT is the perfect everyday top. It has the style of a sweatshirt, but the feel of a t-shirt, so it’s perfect for this unpredictable weather we’ve been having. I can throw on the utility vest and ankle boots when I’m going out so I look put together, but around the house, I just wear the top and jeans, and I’m so comfortable that I might as well be wearing pajamas.
I love the back of this vest. I know it’s sold out (so sorry!) but I wanted to grab a shot of it anyway. (Someone needs to utilize her iron more often!!)
For accessories, I threw on my chevron necklace and Alex & Ani bangles. When I went to look for a ring, I realized this Pauline statement ring would work beautifully. It may be a bit much for this simple outfit, but I thought it added just enough pizzazz to make it fun.
I carried my animal print tote because I love how the neutral colors work into the outfit, and because it’s lightweight and holds a ton. What more can a mom ask for!?!
Simple, easy, but put together. That’s why I love this outfit.

I’m loving burgundy this fall as well and I really like it with your army green vest! Cute outfit all around with some fun accessories. Not too many fall colors out west yet and still quite warm. I’m looking forward to some cooler weather. Hopefully it happens soon. Have a great week!
I agree! That brick red and olive looks so great together. I have an olive jacket, but not a vest. Might need to do some looking around for one!
I have both and wear them both a lot, depending on the weather. I think they’re both great to have.
Adore the brick red and olive together. My vest (very similar) is an absolute staple item in my wardrobe, I wear it all the time and it looks great in a number of ways. Always such great inspiration and your booties are great too.
It really is so versatile. I should probably wear it more than I do.
Love how this color top looks against the olive in the vest!

Thanks, Darcy!
I’m thinking even if you ironed the vest it would still look wrinkly. That’s what I’m telling myself, anyway! 🙂 I have the same problem, but worse, with my olive jacket. The most I will prob do is throw it in the dryer and hope it looks a little better. Finally cooling off a little in Texas!
It probably would – or at least, it would after waring it for any length of time. 🙂
You are too funny about utilizing your iron! I hate ironing, but I don’t like for my clothes to look like I just pulled them out of the dryer either. I am still looking for an olive green vest at a reasonable price for this retiree. I love the whole outfit! Have a blessed day!
I am the same. I hate ironing, but I also hate looking rumpled.
I love everything about this outfit and the funny thing is, I would have never thought to put Brick Red and Olive Green together.
Isn’t it funny how different people see different ideas? 🙂 Every time I wear that color top, I want to put an olive green vest or jacket over it, lol.
That’s a cute combination!
I recently ordered my first vest, Talbot’s Faux Shearling Vest (ivory). I’m pretty clueless about styling vests. It seems they look best with fitted, close to the body tops? I need a vest tutorial lol.

Hey Ellen, that’s cute! I would wear it with long sleeve crewneck t-shirts and turtlenecks, like the one they picture with it online. You could also wear it over a plaid button-down shirt, if you like that look.
With each of your posts , I always keep my eye on your fingernail polish color! Do you think it’s okay to wear light colors (like the whitish you have on here) in the fall? I think it looks great, but I have a couple of people in my life that say “You can’t wear the light colors in fall and winter”. Thoughts?
It’s absolutely okay! I wear all colors all year round.
Yea!! I needed the validation, because I felt like it should be fine, and I like the light colors too! 🙂
How do u keep ur Alex and Ani bracelets so shiny? I have 2 gold tone ones that I wear very often and they have tarnished. I always remove them when showering or sleeping. I have had them for about a year and I am so disappointed.
Oh, mine aren’t shiny. I think the light was just glinting off them in the pictures, lol. They’ve definitely dulled with age, but I don’t mind. I like that they’re more casual than my shiny gold and silver jewelry. They’re almost coppery, which looks cool with denim. At least, that’s what I tell myself, haha!
Such a perfect outfit and I have almost all those pieces. I love how a vest just makes every outfit look better!
Love the vest AND those gorg boots lady!
It may be a simple outfit, but its so chic. I love the color combo for Fall.
