It’s been a busy week. I’ve been gone more than I’ve been home! Here’s what I’ve been wearing.
I wore this outfit out to lunch last week with my friend Colleen. It was a rainy, windy, humid day, so I wanted to be cute but comfy. I pulled out my old faithful Joe’s flap-pocket bootcut jeans and paired them with my embellished black top from LOFT. I wore my black rounded-toe wedge pumps from Aldo and carried my Carlos Falchi burgundy tote for a splash of fall color.
The next day I got up bright and early and drove to New York City for the Fashion Forward Conference. I wore this gray top from the LOFT with my plum skinnies and black boots. I love wearing short sleeves with boots! I accessorized with this long silver necklace and a silver link bracelet.
I wore the outfit again to church on Sunday with a different necklace and bracelet. I also dug out my old faithful Orla Kiely handbag. I absolutely love this bag; I carried it to death for about two years and then it got shoved to the back of my closet in favor of newer bags. I think it’s going to start reappearing in my handbag rotation. It’s just such a fun pattern, and I love how easy the laminated canvas is to keep clean.
This is the Lauren by Ralph Lauren dress I got to model at the Fashion Forward conference. I absolutely love it, and yes, I got to keep it!!! Bellamy Blue did such a fabulous job photographing the event. You can see all the photos from the Fashion Forward conference on Flickr.
I wore it again on Saturday night to go out to dinner in Philly and to see a show. It was a warm night, so this time I wore the dress with bare legs and my You By Crocs suede beige slingbacks. I carried my own red handbag, and I wore this silver circle necklace on copper chain, a gift from my friend Lisa at Studio Jewel.
If you’re local and looking for something to do this weekend, check out Awesome Alliteration. It was such a great show, and not just because my nephew had a starring role. The Adrienne Theater is small and intimate, and the tickets are very affordable. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for our dinner at Parc. It was delicious though!!!
I wore this to our son’s Back To School Night at the middle school. OH MY WORD, what a night! We basically followed his schedule and switched classes every 10 minutes. It was insane. But I digress.
I finally got a opportunity to wear this top that I bought several weeks ago at Nordstrom when I was actually shopping for my BlogHer outfits. I loved it and snagged it and have been waiting for fall weather so I can wear it. I like how the fit of the top is feminine and the wide stripes give a nod to the collegiate look that is back in style. I put it with dark skinny jeans and black ballet flats and carried a basic black handbag. Simple silver jewelry, and I was good to go!
I’m not sure why I look constipated. I think the sun was in my eyes.
On Saturday I had a PSMM Workshop, and I wanted to wear my booties. I love this lightweight silver/gray cardigan for these warm fall days, and I like how it balances the silver/gray booties. I chose my red jeans and black tank and a long silver necklace to finish off the outfit.
I rolled my jeans up once so they don’t buckle where they meet the booties. I’ve also seen people roll them twice and leave some leg showing. Don’t I look official with my laptop bag?? I have to admit, it makes me happy the way the black and red bag match my outfit.
Finally, this is one of my hang out and work from home outfits. These cropped beige cords made their fall debut, and I paired them with this teal tee from Old Navy. The brown embellished flats gave some interest to an otherwise simple outfit, and I wore my Grace Tags necklace.
And that’s about it!
If you’re wondering what on EARTH I’m doing posting my daily outfits, I started joining Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy well over a year ago, sharing my outfits by way of keeping us stay-at-home/work-at-home mamas accountable for getting dressed every day. If you’ve ever been in a situation where you’re at home most of the time, you might know how easy it is to get into a rut of living in yoga pants or even pajamas.
Over the past year, I’ve begun to use this little exercise as a way of challenging myself to try new styles and trends and be more creative in my outfits. And I do hope that it is some inspiration to other at-home-mamas out there who are wondering how to wear current trends in a way that is age appropriate and fits your personal style.

Love that striped top from Nordstrom – mind giving the label, if you don’t have a direct link?
Sure, It’s an Ella Moss.
That dress is amazing and those suede sling backs look great with it!
Thanks! I was thrilled to discover that, myself. I was getting ready to go out that night and didn’t want to wear boots or my suede pumps b/c it was so warm out. My eye landed on those, and I was like PERFECT!!!!
I sometimes think I should take pictures of my outfits everyday too when I go to work, because I often get to Thursday or Friday and have the horrible feeling that I’ve worn a top already that week 🙂
Yeah, it’s amazing. Sometimes I wear the same thing twice and go to put pix up and I’m like, OOPS! LOL!! Not that it matters… but still.
Ok, dear… I have a question… how in the world do you manage to switch your purse so often? I mean, how do you keep a purse cleaned out enough to swap out everything that you own (and the kitchen sink) that appear in most women’s purses?
Thanks to you (ha ha) I have a nice collection of purses, but most are neutral so they can go with anything but it’s such a chore to move everything from one purse to the next.
Ideas?
I actually have written a post about that!, but I can’t find it right now. I also address it briefly in my FAQ b/c it is honestly probably the one question I get asked the most!

I love the dress, and your glasses too. Are they new? You continue to inspire me Jo-Lynne. When I’m about to reach for something safe and beige I think about your posts and look for “real clothes” and accessories. It really helps! Thank you!!!
Aw thanks! Trust me, there are days when I don’t get out of yoga pants. 🙂 The glasses are fairly new – a few months old. I’ve never had glasses before that I liked enough to wear all day. Usually they are just for late night TV. 😉 But I’m enjoying these.
I know you’ve struggled with staying motivated to exercise, but whatever you’re doing must be working — you look like you’ve lost weight!
YOU are my new best friend!!!!! Not really, I fluctuate with 5 pounds or so, depending on the time of year. This is my low time, lol. Too busy to eat!!!!!
I love your boots, and of course, your dress is fabulous.

I agree, I like the dress and the glasses!
LOVE that new dress!! It will look stunning with some black boots too!! Good ole Ralph is still keeping it classy but stylish, no?? Don’t you love Ella Moss tops? Soooo soft!!!
This was my introduction to Ella Moss. I do love it but wow, the price tag! I can’t afford many of these. LOL. I will be wearing it A LOT!!!!!
You are not kidding! I scored one at a little shop at the beach for 75% off and it was still “pricey for a t-shirt” but I loovveee it!
You look adorable in those glasses!
AW THANKS!
Love the new dress!
Love your style, especially the boots! I can’t wait until I can start sporting my boots. I found your blog at The Pleated Poppy What I Wore Wednesday link up. I have found many inspirations on your blog. I am now following you and can’t wait to see what’s next. Feel free to stop by my blog when you get a moment http://theserenasaga.blogspot.com
