Back in the summer, I decided I wanted to go back to using a curling wand for curling my hair, so I went into Ulta to see what they recommend, and I walked out with the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand. I’ve been using it for a few months, and I really like it, so today I’m sharing my honest review and a quick hair tutorial.

I had been using the Dyson Corrale Hair Straightener to get my curls, and I have a whole post about that, if you’re interested: How I Use the Dyson Corrale To Smooth & Curl My Hair. It works fine for beachy waves, but I was hoping a wand would give me fuller, bouncier curls when I want a softer look.
When my hair was much shorter, I used the T3 Whirl Interchangeable Styling Wand with the 1″ barrel, but I passed it onto my daughter when I started using the Dyson Corrale. You can see a post about that right here: How To Curl Shoulder Length Hair. But now I’m going full circle, back to a curling wand!
Enter the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand

This was a rather spontaneous purchase, and I hadn’t ready any reviews or determined a brand that I wanted, so I went in to Ulta hoping they could give me some direction. I knew I wanted something very simple and intuitive to use, and I didn’t want to spend a lot.
They had quite a few curling irons and wands to choose from, but as I looked around and compared features, the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand seemed to the make the most sense. (It also happens to be on sale online for $52.49!) It wasn’t the cheapest option, but it was far from the most expensive, and it looked simple and easy to use.
I was thinking that with my longer hair, a bigger barrel would be more likely to give me the look I’m going for. The BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand comes in three sizes, 3/4″, 1″ and 1 1/4″, so I went with the 1 1/4″ barrel.

It has a simple on/off button with five heat settings. The blue nano titanium barrel evenly distributes high heat up to 430° F, and it has and ionic technology to reduce frizz and lock in shine. It’s surpringly lightweight, and it’s also dual voltage, so I can bring it with me when I travel to Europe.
I came right home that day and put it to the test, and I love how simple it is to set up and go. It heats up quickly, but I will say, the cord gets kind of annoying. I’m spoiled by the cordless Dyson Corrale, but that’s a small nuisance, not a deal breaker.
I thought the barrel looked short compared to my T3, but it’s plenty long for my length of hair, and it has a nice tip on the end that does not heat up, so I can hold it for extra stability.

BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand curls my hair quickly and easily and leaves it glossy and shiny, with curls that last all day. I can usually even get up and go the next morning with only a quick touch up here and there.
STYLING TIP: I usually curl away from my face and leave some of the ends out, so they are a little straighter, but you can curl all the way to the bottom if you prefer that look. You can also alternate curling forward and backward, to give it a little more volume. After it cools, I run my fingers through it and fluff it up and blend it together, but I don’t usually run a brush through it. I prefer it to look a little piecey and loose.

So the verdict? For a mid-range curling wand that comes in a variety of sizes, I feel like the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand is a really good value, especially at the current sale price of .
Does it give me a vastly different look than the Dyson Corrale? Probably not… although maybe I should try curling it all the way to the ends and brushing through it to achieve more of those romantic, bouncy curls I was talking about. I’m actually planning to curl my hair today, so I’ll try it and report back!

All that to say, I probably didn’t need an additional hair tool, but if you are in the market for a curling wand that works well and is easy to use and doesn’t break the bank, I would recommend the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand without hesitation.
The BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Curling Wand can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora, Amazon, Target, and QVC. Other hair styling products I use when I curl my hair are this Oligo Calura Express Blowout Mist and the Kenra Volume Spray.

Hi Jolynne – that was such a helpful post. Your hair looks great and your tips are really handy. I have long been wanting to style my shoulder length hair as you have but you have nailed it!
Thank you and many good hair days to you!💃xx
I have too many hair tools, but I go through phases of using different ones, depending on the season, what length my long hair is, etc. I’m tempted to order this from Ulta. Is that the 1.25 barrel you have, Jo-Lynne?
Yes, it is.
Like you, the simpler a hair tool is to use, the better! If I ever wore my hair down I would definitely buy myself one. You know, even though I have already purchased our 25 yr old granddaughters Christmas, I may add this to her gifts. She has long thick and beautiful natural red hair that she styles in so many ways, so I think she could use it. Thanks!
I think she would love it and also check out this one that I just noticed when I was looking for mine on Amazon. There’s a video of the guy showing a model with really long hair how to use it and I think that would be kind of fun for your granddaughter. https://amzn.to/48Hv27T
Your hair always looks so great and you Mentioned in previous posts that you have hair extensions and you would never know it! They look amazing! Do you know what kind your stylist uses? Are they tape in? I’m thinking about having some put in. Thanks!
They are sewn-in beaded rows.
Would you please compare curling irons that are brush curling irons? We found them at Walmart!! Many women want to know about these that I know!! Thank you so much!!
What brand did you get Natalie? Did you find them pretty easy to use?
Yeah, I’ve been curious about those too.
Happy Veterans Day. Your hair looks beautiful. I like that you don’t have to use a glove with the wand. If my hair was longer I’d get one. Back to veteran’s day I noticed most of the clothing retailers are no longer mentioning it on their emails except for DSW. Maybe I’m more sensitive because I worked the majority of my career at a VA hospital and I have a lot of friends who are veterans. Thank you for mentioning it in your blog. Veterans deserve our respect and to be honored today.
Interesting, I didn’t notice that. I absolutely agree that veterans deserve to be honored today.
Hi Jo-Lynne,
I’ve been following you for a long time, and don’t normally chime in. I really noticed how great your eye brows look, although I have seen them many times, ha ha. I use a powder and a brush for mine, but would like to know exactly how you do yours and what products you use please? Thanks by the way for doing all that you do on your blog! Appreciate you doing such a fabulous job!
I just recently had my microblading touched up, right before we took these photos, so that is why they look so perfect. Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold real well on me and I will end up penciling in some once they settle. I love this brow pencil b/c it is self sharpening and very precise and comes with the spooly on the other end.
Great recommendation, I was not aware of this item but will check it out. I’ve had better luck with curling rods than traditional curling irons. My current dilemma is styling my hair straight. I’ve been blow drying it out then using a straightener since I was in high school (twenty years ago!) but am starting to get tired of that look. I’m leaning towards trying one of the blow dry brushes for a more voluminous but still smooth look (my hair is wavy and frizzy on its own). Have you tried these yet? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I have not tried one yet.
I’m so grateful for this post. Thank you so much. I ordered the 1 inch since my hair is shorter than yours, I hope it works out knowing I could probably exchange for the larger size. I watched your video as well using a smaller barrel with your shorter hair. I’ve been avoiding trying to curl my hair because every time I do it it’s frustrating and I can’t get it to look right. With your tips, video, and this tool, I’m hoping to be able to master it before Christmas lol. Your hair always looks beautiful!
Thank you to all Veterans! We are a military family and grateful to all who serve. 🇺🇸🙏🏻
Thank you for your service. I know it’s a sacrifice made by the whole family.
Jolynne, do you have highlights in your hair? I’ve noticed that your hair looks lighter. It’s very flattering!
I do, just a few from the summer, and they’re growing out and getting kind of brassy. I need to have her pull my base color through next time.
Love this post on using the curling wand. I need to branch out and have different hair styles!!
Can you recommend any good air dryers? I have pretty straight, fine hair. I’m looking to tame the frizzies and put shine in my hair.
Thanks-
Hair looks great!
Do you have any recommendations for a good hair dryer? Looking for one that cuts down on the frizzies and leaves hair shiny.
Thanks-
I’m a die-hard Dyson fan. It’s pricey but so worth it, IMO. The T3 is also good, and on sale right now. And the Zuvi Halo is very gentle on delicate hair.
