Fashion Finds from Athleta, Vuori, MOTHER, Boden, LOFT & More

Good morning! I’ve got a bonus post for you this week. It’s a short one, but I wanted to get this Try-On Haul out before the #NSale madness begins. This is a random assortment of tops, denim, and shorts from Athleta, Boden, Vuori, MOTHER, LOFT, and Nordstrom.

As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.

Athleta Endless High Rise Pant in Black

at Athleta (6) // Nordstrom tee (S) // Paul Green Hadley sneakers (8)

I ordered these pants after the lades in my JLS Insiders Facebook Group were raving about how great they are, especially for travel, and I can see why. The PrimaStretch fabric has lots of stretch but with a subtle texture and just enough structure to look nice for a variety of situations, and you can tell it would dry quickly if you need to wash them on the go. They’re also supposedly wrinkle-free!

The wide, stretchy Powervita waistband is super soft and comfortable, and the straight yet relaxed fit is flattering and highly versatile to wear with different types of shoes and tops. They have zip pockets to secure your essentials and back drop-in pockets, as well.

These pants come in regular, petite, and tall sizes; and they run a bit large. I was able to fit easily into the size 6, which is not something I get to say very often these days.

The inseam on the Regular length that I’m wearing here is 27.5″ (the Petite is 25.5″, and the Tall is 30.5″) and the fabric is 86% Recycled Polyester, 14% Spandex.

These pants are originally $109, marked down to $92.65 + extra 30% off at checkout, bringing them down to $64.85 in cart!

VERDICT: Definitely keeping these; they aren’t something I see myself wearing all time time, but I was able to get them on sale and I know they will come in handy.

Boden Sasha Eyelet Cotton T-Shirt

at Nordstrom (8) // at Boden (8) // Paige Claudine (29) // Sam Edelman Deacon (8)

This pretty top with the eyelet detail caught my eye on the Nordstrom website due to that cheery ceylon yellow color, but it comes in a bunch of other pretty colors on the Boden website. I love the way the sleeves are designed, and how the eyelet is only at the top, not throughout the entire top. Also, the keyhole closure in the back and the tiny pompom trim are both nice details.

The quality of this top is really nice, as you would expect from Boden. The 100% slub cotton has a nice subtle texture to it, and the straight fit with the 24″ length is perfect for a front tuck.

VERDICT: I really don’t need any more summer tops, but I’m tempted to keep this one because it’s a timeless style, and I don’t have any bright yellow tops in my closet. I love how it pairs with white or blue denim.

LOFT Crochet V-Neck Top

at LOFT // Paige Claudine (29) // Tory Burch wedges (8)

My best friend gifted me this top for my birthday, and I love the way it brings the crochet trend into my closet, but in a classic black and white stripe that isn’t as precious as so many crochet tops tend to be.

It’s 23 1/4″ long, and I’m wearing the medium here, but I took it back to the store to exchange it for the small, and that one fits much better.

Here’s how it looks in the small, although I would style it with white jeans and black or neutral shoes, as seen above. I just happened to have on these shorts when I ran into the store.

This top is currently $29.97, marked down from $49.95; and it also comes in petite sizes.

VERDICT: Keeping! I mean, it was a gift, but I would keep it even if it weren’t. It will be so cute with white denim for church or date nights this summer.

Loveappella Faux Wrap Top

at Nordstrom (S) // Paige Claudine (29) // Sam Edelman Deacon (8)

This faux wrap top with the surplice v-neck is 23 1/2″ long, and the fabric is 95% rayon, 5% spandex. It comes in a bunch of colors, and it’s under $50.

I thought it would be a nice addition to my summer closet, especially for date nights and such, but the wrap fits very strangely. It’s also just too small. I could re-order in the medium, but I still don’t think I’d like the way it lays across the chest.

VERDICT: This top is going back, but if you like this style and want to give it a try, I would consider sizing up.

MOTHER The Hustler Roller Skimp Flare Jeans in Caving In

at Nordstrom (29) // at Bloomies (29) // at MOTHER (29) // Boden Sasha (8) // Vionic Merlot (8) // Vince Pia (8)

I have a very similar pair of jeans to these, but I’m struggling to fit into them this year. They’re also sold out, so I can never link them, so I decided to order this pair. I absolutely LOVE the fit, as well as the wash.

They have a 11 1/2″ front rise and a 31″ inseam with a 24″ leg opening; and the fabric is 94% cotton, 5% polyester, 1% elastane. Like all MOTHER denim, they’re made in the USA of imported materials

These jeans are described on the MOTHER website as “70s-inspired wide leg jeans with a high rise, 31-inch inseam and a clean hem,” which sums it up nicely, but I also like how Nordstrom describes the “sweeping flared legs.” They’re pretty much the perfect marriage of a wide leg and a relaxed flare.

I appreciate how they hug the bum and upper thighs before they start widening a couple inches above the knee. I also love the mid-blue wash with the subtle whiskering and fading at the knees, for a more relaxed look.

VERDICT: I’m holding onto these with the tags on because there is a similar pair in the #NSale, so I’m going to try to get my hands on one of those to try and compare, but I absolutely love these. They’ll also look great with boots this fall.

Vuori Clementine 4″ Short 2.0 in Lake

at Vuori (M) (more colors) // Zella Breathe tank (S) // Brooks running shoes

I decided I needed new running shorts this year, since most of my old ones no longer fit. Do you sense a theme here? I like the Vuori Clementine 2.0 shorts I have, but they’re rather short, so I was excited to see this 4″ pair. I ordered the small and medium to try, and I ended up with the medium.

I love how they’re a little longer in the back than in the front, and they have a small front zipper pocket for your car key or credit card. They also have a mesh liner, so undies are optional.

I don’t love the tie waist because it’s bulky when my shirt is left untucked, but it does add a nice detail if you wear a cropped shirt or if you like to front tuck.

VERDICT: Keeping! I would totally order another color, but I just realized they’re almost all sold out. WHAAAT? I’m so sorry, and here I am going on and on about them. Well, I have one more to show you…

Vuori Dash Short in Pistachio

at Vuori (M) // Zella Breathe tank (S) // Brooks running shoes

And, um… these are low inventory too. I don’t know when that happened, I’m pretty sure they were well-stocked when I ordered mine a couple weeks ago.

This Dash Short is unlined, and it has a 3″ inseam. It also has a straighter cut, and I like that there is no tie waist, so my shirt lies flat. I only front tucked it here to show you the waistband. It’s soft and comfortable, not binding at all… and I do carry some extra fluff in that area, although it may not really show in these pictures.

VERDICT: Keeping these, too. I’ve already worn both of these shorts multiple times. Hopefully they will restock or come out with some new, similar styles soon! I’ll keep you posted.

And that’s all I’ve got for today. As I said above, it’s a short one, but there’s some good stuff in here!

  1. I ordered a pair of the Athlete Endless High Rise pants for myself, and loved them so much that I ordered a pair for both of my daughters. I love the look and comfort of them. Plus, they were on sale!

  2. Hi, Jo-Lynne! Regarding the N-Sale, I’m in the market for a trench coat to bring to Europe this fall. I have two favorites. If you happen to see them, I’d love to know your though raincoat on these two –
London Fog Water Resistant Belted Trench Coat $179.99
    And
Ralph Lauren Water Resistant Double-Breasted Belted Trench Coat $169.99

    Thank you!
    Tracy Green

  3. I’m interested in how the Athleta pants hold up after a few washes since they are made of recycled polyester. I’ve had to get rid of clothes made of recycled polyester because they pilled terribly. The yellow and stripe tops are cute.

  4. I so do not need any more jeans, but really love those Mother jeans. I think I prefer the Hustler, as they appear to have a slightly smaller flare, but like you for the price, the Twister is pretty nice. Cant wait to hear what you decide. I so wish I had a Nordstrom close by so I could just try on, but the nearest one is 2.5 hours away. Oh well!

Also really like that Boden shirt on you, but then I do like most Boden stuff, the quality is just perfect.

  5. LOVE the wash on those Mother Rollers– they look great on you. For the NAS try-ons, I have a few requests: 1) the Vince Raglan Sleeve Cashmere Sweater– wondering if the length will be too cropped & if it runs TTS? 2) Barbour Lavender Waterproof Hooded Coat– thoughts, TTS?? 3) Rails Ingrid Raw Hem Chambray Shirt– some Rails shirts run small, others TTS, so wondering which this is? 4) Zella Impress High Waist Pants; 5) Zella Cloud Fleece Longline Blazer– those dropped shoulders might be a problem, but it looks so perfect for an athleisure topper! Lots else but those are in my “order first” wish list. So excited to see what else you find! 🤩

  6. You look great in all these photos……I don’t see any fluff. Infact, you look like you’ve lost weight. Anyway, I’d love to see the black pant in a post styled 5 ways. I’m trying not to buy the pants because of the great sale, but I’m like you, I don’t think I’ll wear them a lot right now and trying to figure out how I would style them. Are they like the Spanx ones from a few years ago but wider leg? I’m shorter than you and I think shorter legs, so don’t want to feel frumpy or always have to wear them with higher heel. Have a great rest of your holiday weekend. We are in the low 90’s in NW Oregon for 5 days now. Its messing up our love to hike. LOL I don’t love to hike in the HOT weather.

    1. I second the request for a styled 5 ways post on the Athleta Endless pants!! I have them in navy and would love some ideas for dressed up dressed down styling!

  7. I have two pairs of endless high rise pant in the light beige color. I loved the first ones so much I bought the exact color again because it’s so hard to find. I am definitely getting them in the black — thank you so much! I would not have known about the sale if it weren’t for you (heart emoji!)

    1. I love that color, too. I have it in the Endless Pant style as well as the jogger with the pockets. They are my go-to travel pants. I wear the matching Essential tank with them and carry a jacket or sweater.

  8. Hi! I’m happy Nordstrom is shipping to Canada again. A few things that caught my eye, the Caslon® Floral Print Pleated Top, Halogen® Cargo Zip Front Milano Stitch Bomber Cardigan and the Faherty Sunset Stripe Organic Cotton Hoodie. If you see any of these in store I would love to hear your thoughts on them before I place my order. Thanks!
