I think I write this post every year, but it’s always a fun one! I love getting festive for the Fourth, even though we rarely have exciting plans.
Remember, patriotic does not mean you have to drape yourself in the American flag. (In fact, I would highly discourage that.) Here are some more fashion-forward looks that keep it classy for the Fourth.
Sometimes all you need is one great accessory to tie together a simple outfit. I’m crushing on this La Totale Large in Navy/Red Medallion from my Stella & Dot boutique.
Or what about the Palm Springs Scarf?
Pair white shorts with a blue or red top, or perhaps wear a white tee or red blouse with blue jeans, and rely on your accessories to carry the outfit.
LOFT Cotton Tank (50% off!!!!) // White Denim Cut-off Shorts (50% of!!!!) // C. Wonder Printed Flip Flops (on sale!!!) // Stella & Dot Medallion Tote // Stella & Dot Circles Necklace // Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Lipcolor in Red Stiletto // Charming Charlie Stars and Stripes Nail Polish
White Ribbed Shell Tee // Boyfriend Jeans (40% off!!!!) // Stella & Dot Tia Cross Body- Cerise // Stella & Dot Palm Springs Scarf // Essie Nail Color in Blanc // White Sunnies
Sometimes you can find a great dress that incorporates two or three of the colors and then you can accessorize with the rest. If you live in a cooler climate, I love this striped drawstring dress from C. Wonder. It’s perfect with this gorgeous cobalt blue tote. Throw on your favorite sandals and some bling and you’re all set!
Striped Draw-String Dress // Stella & Dot Paris Tote // Tory Burch Miller sandals // Stella & Dot earrings and bracelet

Or Shop Your Closet
But there’s no need to run out to the mall if you have red, white and blue in your closet. What do you already have in red, white and blue that you could put together for a festive, yet stylish outfit?? Here are a few I’ve put together recently. This one’s casual and so easy — red tank, jeans, white sandals. DONE! I was thrilled to discover this blue and gold necklace in my jewelry drawer that completes the outfit, but you could totally do a scarf like the one shown above. I also painted my nails red and blue. And don’t forget a coordinating handbag!
This outfit is slightly more dressy — blue and white striped dress, red bag, red earrings and bracelet (Stella & Dot, of course) and white sandals.
And this is what I wore last year for the Fourth to host a family cookout. I happened to have this red, white and blue top from Old Navy, and I just wore it with my old faithful denim jean shorts. Easy peasy!
It’s hard to believe looking back at that photo that I ran a 10K that morning and PRed. Sigh… distant memories.
Also, don’t miss my post from earlier this week about Patriotic Nails for the Fourth! Hey, it’s the one time of the year you can go all out. Have fun with it!

Love these easy looks! I usually just shop my closet and then use my accessories. I really want a summer scarf with anchors so maybe this would be a good occasion to get one!
Great picks! I love the drawstring dress and Loft tank!

Love the second look! Definitely my style!
I love these fun, not-too-literal options. I’m with Amy Ann on that LOFT tank- it’s one of my favorite pieces here and could easily get a lot of use. Soooo many cute, pieces from Stella & Dot too. They make tempting stuff!

Love these ideas! And although this isn’t fashion-related, I just had to share this great 4th of July decorating idea I just saw: http://m.hometalk.com/#!/3961895/easy-patriotic-luminaries?utm_source=link&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=Featured
That simple tee and jeans is my favorite! So classic and all-American! Love these looks because they give a nod to being patriotic without being over the top. Very wearable!
Great choices! I love the striped dress with the denim jacket on top and red bag. Thanks for hosting the link up 🙂

These are cute selections! Love the tote and I’m so tempted to try the stars and stripes nail polish. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!
I had a customer who was wearing a jean skirt, white top, and red belt this past week and I remember thinking it’d be great for the 4th!
Thanks for all the holiday inspiration!! I really loved the stripe maxi dress. I would love to keep in touch through our blogs. Have a wonderful day!!

I like the festive nails. I think one year we dressed the whole family in red white and blue colors – it was so cute. That was the first and last time I did that though. I guess I got lazy.

I love these looks.
