Fashion-Over-40-What-To-Wear-

Welcome back to my weekly Fashion Over 40 post where I share what I wore this week and link up with other fabulous fashion bloggers around the web! We are having some GORGEOUS fall weather right now so I have tons of outfits to post today. I love dressing for this weather. It’s cool enough to layer without being so cold that you need a heavy coat.

What I Wore This Week

I wore this first outfit on a double-date with my husband and some friends. The jacket and blue top are both from White House Black Market last spring, so no longer available. Still, WHBM is a great place to go for this type of outfit. They always have a nice selection of cute jackets and tops. The jeans are my Paige Skyline Skinnies. These are my go-to dressy jeans. They are incredibly flattering, and I’ve had them for a few years and they still have their dark wash. They haven’t faded much, if at all. I always wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. I wanted to wear my nude pointy-toe pumps, but because I’m still recovering from a stress fracture in my left foot, I chose a more sensible wedge. I got these on a mega sale last spring. Unfortunately, they’re long gone, but these are similar.

I carried my Tory Burch Amanda bag and accessorized with my Stella & Dot Elodie necklace. I also slapped on some nail polish before I walked out the door.

I wore this next outfit to church the next day. I wanted to see if I could dress down my LBD (c/o CAbi) with a denim jacket and riding boots. I think it turned out cute. The bracelet and necklace were gifted by Dionne, who sells Paparazzi. You can shop her store if you’re interested. They have a ton of super cute fashion jewelry, and everything is $5 or less. I KNOW!

This outfit I wore one day when I went shopping with a friend. That was fun! I don’t take the time to do that sorta thing much these days. I love this sweater. I got it at a local shop called Best Friends. The marbled pattern in the knit is fun, and the button detailing and the raglan sleeves add interest. I wore it with these khaki moto-style jeans that I bought last spring (I can’t find anything like them to link to; so sorry!) and my Frye Phillip Harness Boots.

The necklace is Stella & Dot. As most of you know, I’m a Stella & Dot consultant. You can find my shop here. They’ve just restocked so if you had your eye on something that wasn’t available, you might want to check in again!

My tote is one I dug out of the attic when I got my winter clothes down. I bought it a couple of years ago at a Macy’s Friends & Family sale. It is a classic, so much so that it is still stocked at Zappo’s.

This is what I wore to help out with my daughter’s classroom Halloween party. Of course, I had to wear orange! I paired this old orange tank with my army green cargo skinnies (via Stitch Fix) and topped it all off with a black cardigan (from LOFT last year.) The necklaces and bracelet are, again, Stella & Dot. And I painted my nails a deep purplish-black.

And those are my Naturalizer boots. Did you hear that I won the Style At Any Age competition!??? Thanks to those who voted for me!

I wore this on Sunday. It was SUPER cold, and I’ve been wanting to do the white jeans for winter thing. I love this combo. It’s cozy and wintry and incorporates white jeans, which typically are associated with summertime. Fun, yes!?

The white jeans are the DL1961 Angel in Milk. I have had them for a few years. I like them because they are thick enough that you don’t feel like they’re see-through. Plus they’re warm enough to wear in cooler weather.

The boots are UGGs and they’re a few years old. As far as I know, they have nothing quite like them in stock now, which is a shame. LOVE these boots.

Grey & White Winter Outfit

The softstripe sweater is from the LOFT Lou & Grey collection. I picked it up when I was shopping with some girlfriends a few weeks back. It is very thin. I had to wear it over a tank top, but it’s cozy and cute. It also runs quite large. I’m wearing a small, and it was roomy on me. I have a feeling it might shrink, though.

Finally… FINALLY! Yes, I’m almost done. I wore this to take my daughter to a doctor appointment and then to meet some friends for lunch. The zipper pullover is c/o CAbi. I love the zipper detail . . . not that you can see it in these pictures. We grabbed these super fast on our way out the door so they’re not the best.

It was chilly, so I wore my utility jacket (it’s old, but there are so many of these in the stores right now. This one is cute.) For accessories, I wore this gold pendant necklace. I felt like I needed something to break up the vast expanse of navy blue. I got this piece from Rocksbox.

I wore these mid-wash jeans (I KNOW, spendy, although I did get mine on sale) to allow some contrast against the navy blue. And I went with my almond-colored ballet flats, c/o Cobb Hill. So, so, so comfortable. Seriously the most comfortable ballet flats I have EVER worn in my life.

Phew! When I get to the end of writing these posts, I always feel like I’ve birthed a baby!

I hope that gives you some fun fall outfit inspiration.
