I suppose it’s pretty predictable that I’d be posting about Fourth of July Fashion the Friday before July 4th! (Actually, it’s not THAT predictable. When putting together my 4th of July 2 yesterday, I couldn’t find a Fourth of July fashion post of my own to include!! So now I’ll have one for next year.
What was that? You want to sign up for my newsletter? Why, here it is, right here!!
Go ahead. Sign up. I’ll wait.
Alrightythen.
Fourth of July fashion is a bit dicey because, let’s face it. There’s a lot of this out there:
Now, there is nothing horribly wrong with that — except for the fact that half the moms at the parade will be wearing the identical tee shirt. (To say nothing of the men and kids . . . )
We can do better. Patriotic does not have to mean you have to drape yourself in the American flag. Here are some more fashion-forward looks for the Fourth!
This beaded gauze top with white jeans would be super cute! Wear a pair of navy blue ballet flats or sandals or carry a navy-and-white striped tote, and you’re good to go!
How cute and comfy is this tee-shirt dress at Banana Republic? It would be perfect for a daytime picnic, and you could throw on a denim jacket for the evening.
Ditch the heels and wear it with a pair of red sandals instead.
But there’s no need to run out to the mall. Shop your closet! What do you have in red, white and navy that you could put together for a festive, yet stylish outfit??
When in doubt, go for a white tee-shirt and jeans and add whatever red accessory you might have — shoes, bracelet, handbag . . . whatever you like!
I love this family picture from, ahem, several years ago. We all just dressed in various articles of red, white or blue clothing that we had in our closets. Together we looked quite festive, if I do say so myself!
I don’t know who that poor girl is in the background. I’m sorry, Ms. Anonymous, for posting you on my blog!!
I miss going to that parade every year in my husband’s hometown. Maybe we need to make that part of our celebration this year. I bet the kids would love to go back. I wonder if they remember it. Look how cute they were — waiting for the parade to start.
My littlest was just 18 mos old. I remember, she loved the bikes.
Well that was an unexpected trip down memory lane! Sorry, I couldn’t resist posting those pictures once I found them.
What about you? How do you do Fourth of July fashion??
I love red stripes, navy blue stripes, whether on shirts or maxi dresses, I think they’re super cute for fourth of July!
me too! in fact, I have a navy and white stripey top that I love that I will probably wear for the fourth.
Look at how cute y’all are! 🙂
I’ve never been a big patriotic dresser. I do have a navy and white chevron stripe skirt and red tank–it has become my outfit for Rangers games, as it is too hot for my team shirt. The skirt is my current favorite thing ever. I love navy and white together year round.
that sounds like an adorable outfit. where did you get the skirt? I just ordered a navy and white chevron top from Old Navy. can’t wait to get it.
You are so cute.
aw shucks. lol. I was cuter when I was 35. 😉
Humm… I usually just wear a blue or white shirt and jeans. Maybe I need to take it up a notch!!
A red bracelet or watch, and you’re good to go! 😉
LOVE the stripes!!! I’m going to a BBQ this year, so I’ll probably wear something that hides stains 😉
Ha! Smart. 🙂
How cute are you and the fam? I love red sandals. The striped dress is pretty awesome too.
Thanks! How are you, my dear??
Fourth of July is such a great time to do a themed outfit, as we get older those are harder and harder to pull off. Love that red watch you found.
How cute is that pic of you all?! LOVE that!
Red Top and Sandals are awesome. Especially the Red Top. The color, design and cloth, all are looking good. Is it made up of Chiffon?
And personally i feel comfortable wearing flats instead of heels and this red sandal is beautiful, a simple and sleek design.
