My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
When Darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, his covenant, his blood
supports me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay.
When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found!
Dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
My favorite hymn from last week’s service. This season is my favorite season. Hope, promise and rebirth. Thank you for sharing.
I rest on His unchanging grace – Amen
I have never heard that in hymn form (I knew it was a hymn though), but it is part of song by Delirious called Solid Rock. In that song it is used word-for-word, but more like spoken word than singing. And I love it.
This is one of my favorite hymns.
Definitely one of my favorites too!
Love this hymn – it will be in my head for the rest of the day now, and that’s a good thing.
I found you through ohamanda.com, and really love your blog! I loved hers, too, and she recommended you, so I guess it only make sense. 🙂 So glad to have found your blog – I’ll be back for more! Off to follow you on twitter, too. Have a blessed day!
I love the old hymns. I don’t think they are sang enough today.
In my top 5 favorite hymns! Love it.
Amen.
Thank you for sharing that – keeps us in ‘check’ sometimes when we are brought back to hymns like that! And I know for me, it is something I needed today and this past week-
Awesome hymn!!!
Beautiful words, indeed! God is good!
Yes, yes, yes.
Oh, I love this hymn, too! Thanks for posting this reminder for everyone to see!
