I’ve written extensively about food choices and my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, but one area I have blatantly ignored is my skincare. That’s partially because it’s overwhelming and partially because I’m afraid I won’t find a natural skincare product that I like as much as what I’m used to. That said, it’s high time I start to be as discerning about what I put on my skin as I am about what I put in my body.
Of course, half the battle is doing the research and finding safe products, so when I heard about the new Burt’s Bees Renewal Face Care line, I wanted to try it because they come from a brand I already know and trust. I often buy their lip balms for my girls when I’m at the drugstore, and I love the Farmer’s Friend Hand Salve, so I’m certainly open to trying their face care products.
The Renewal Face Care system works in harmony with your skin’s 28 day cycle. The wrinkle-smoothing qualities of the hibiscus and the hydrating apple in the Hibiscus and Apple Rejuvenating Complex interact to plump up skin cells and help reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, improve firmness, and make the skin appear smoother and more hydrated. Plus, it’s affordable, and you can find it at your local drugstore.
These products aren’t only natural, but they’ve been proven to smooth skin, improve firmness, and reduce the look of wrinkles in as few as 4 weeks. That, my friends, is music to these 42-year-old ears! Because it’s not just my ears that are showing signs of aging, if you know what I mean.
So I decided to sign up for the 28-Day Face Cleanse with Burt’s Bees and Kimberly Snyder, nutritionist and author of The Beauty Detox. That means I will use only natural products from the Burt’s Bees Renewal line for the next 28 days. I started this morning, and I already love the feel of the products.
The Cleanser is mild, and the Day Lotion is lightweight so my makeup goes on over it smoothly. Plus it contains sunscreen with SPF 30, so I don’t need a separate product.
I’m also excited to be using a complete system again. I tend to get lazy with my skincare. I ALWAYS take my makeup off at night. ALWAYS. But I am not so faithful with using serums and eye creams. I tend to wash, moisturize, and hop into bed. This 28-day challenge will be a great way to get myself back on track, and I like that the products are designed to work together.
At the end of the 28 days, I’ll report back. You can join me if you’d like! Click here for all the details. If you do, you can share your progress and follow others using the hashtag #28DayFaceCleanse. I’ll be sharing a few progress reports along the way, so make sure you’re following me on Instagram and Facebook.
