March Favorites

Greetings, and good morning from Virginia! We got here safely and in good time, despite heavy traffic, and it was really fun to reconnect with one of my best friends last night.

I’m looking forward to celebrating Easter tomorrow with my family and going to the church where I grew up. If any of you reading along will be there, look for me! I’d love to say hi.

Since 22 Days of Spring Fashion is over, I wanted to share my March Favorites today.

March Favorites 2018

I almost forgot to post these this month! This is a roundup of new finds and old favorites that I’m particularly loving right now.

one // Suede is for all year round these days, and I often get asked how I protect my suede shoes (and bags, I suppose… I don’t have any right now, but this would work for those as well.)

I always spray my suede with a suede protector before wearing them. I used to use this Bearpaw kit that I picked up when I was buying boots for my daughter, and since them I’ve started using this Synovia spray at the recommendation of a sales associate at Nordstrom. Either work fine. The kit is nice because it comes with a brush and a cleaner as well. Actually, Synovia has a kit too, and it’s the same price.

two // This is my go-to self tanning lotion and has been for years. I always stock up during Nordstrom Triple Points events. It works really well, goes on easily, and doesn’t go orange.

When it starts to get warm out and I want to wear shorts and dresses bare-legged, but I haven’t had a chance to get some sun, (or when it is still cold out, and I’m taking spring outfit pictures for the blog… ha!), this stuff is a life saver!

I have a post with tips for applying self tanner if you need them.

three // My favorite new spring bag just went 40% off!!! This brand is new to me, but I really love the styling and the quality, plus the color is on trend and highly versatile. Since it’s more of a bone and not a stark white, I will carry this all year-round.

four // These shoes are all the rage right now, and they’re really cute and comfortable. The price tag is a bit steep for shoes that aren’t leather, but they’re made in the USA with recycled water bottles, which is pretty cool.

I do really like them. I ordered the chili red, but they come in a ton of colors, and they also come in a rounded toe style. Shipping and returns are free and easy, and I know this because I had to return my first pair and order a size up. The rounded toe style is true to size, but you may want to size up half for the point.

five // Another pair of shoes at a much lower price point (you’re welcome) is this pair of Vans slip-ons. I actually wore these for our car trip yesterday with my new white pullover and my favorite distressed skinnies. The color I have is Silver Lining/Blanc De Blanc.

They’re super comfortable, and I love the color. These are fast replacing my Converse for my go-to fashion sneaker… not that I’m getting rid of my Converse anytime soon, but it’s nice to have another option.

six // I’m obsessed with this tee. Despite my “rule” for not buying duplicates, I already have this in two colors — the grey and the navy stripe. It’s nice and light and has the perfect drape for that relaxed, cool-girl-next-door vibe.

I wouldn’t advise buying the solid white unless you don’t mind your tee being on the sheer side, but the other colors are great. For size reference, I have these in size small.

seven // This is one of my new favorite new LOFT sweaters… okay, I hate it when people say “new favorite” but anyway. It’s really flattering, and I like the color combo — it’s rather different and unexpected for spring.

For size reference, this is a small, my usual size at Loft. It does run a little small and tends to hug any lumps and bumps so if in doubt, you may want to size up or order two sizes to compare. I was thinking I might be more comfortable in a medium.

eight // Finally, I’ve been wearing this necklace a lot. It’s delicate and pretty on my dressier sweaters. I usually wear this bracelet with it.

  2. Jo-Lynne – great new finds…you nailed it.  My wallet just got lighter😉Enjoy your family and weekend back home.

  3. I almost grabbed that striped black and beige sweater but went with the whip stitch striped sweater instead. Both are so pretty! Have a wonderful visit and Happy Easter, Jo-Lynne and family!

  4. Glad you all made it safely to VA and great post today. I just picked up some of the Clarins at Marshall’s for $20 but it’s the self tanning milk (hope it works the same?) for those who want to try it and have a near by store.
Enjoy your time with your family and have a Happy Easter 🐰

  5. Great March favorites post!  I’m so glad that y’all made it to VA safely.  Have a beautiful and blessed Easter with your family and friends.  Today is a sad day for Christians, but oh what a day of celebration is ahead of us for tomorrow!  💞 🐣

  6. Love the dress you picked for Easter. Enjoy time with family. Post what your kids are wearing. Maybe do a pic tomorrow before church. Happy Easter.

  7. I just wanted to wish you a happy Easter. It’s lovely that you can spend it with your parents. My dad died when I was twelve and my mom when I was forty five. I guess that makes me an orphan. Hug your parents extra tight this year.
    Blessings ~ Joanna

  8. Hey- Love all your March Favorites.  And considering the vans but wanted to know if the soul is flexible or is it more like a platform shoe? Thanks!
