May Favorites: What I’m Loving Right Now

Happy Tuesday, friends! I’m back today with my May Favorites. This is a roundup of new finds and old favorites that I’m particularly loving right now. I’m actually still enjoying a lot of things from my April Favorites, but I tried to change it up so I don’t have any duplicates.

May Favorites 2021

#1. LAGOS Bracelets // I usually wear these together, so I’m including them as one item. (There are two links there, so click on each word to get to each bracelet.) Steven Lagos is a Philly-based designer, and I love his aesthetic and attention to detail. These bracelets were a birthday gift last summer, and they are such nice everyday pieces.

I love how they have both silver and gold metals, which makes them super versatile. I didn’t wear them as much over the winter with my long sleeve sweaters, but now that I’m in short sleeves again, I find myself reaching for them all time time. The quality is outstanding for the price point, and I know I’ll have these for many years.

#2. Lemon Themed Dishtowels // I love these cheery lemon themed dishtowels for accessorizing my new outdoor serving cart, but they would be just as cute in the kitchen. They’re such a fun and inexpensive way to jazz up a space in your home.

#3. AGOLDE Toni straight ankle jeans in Precipice (size 28) // I hesitated to get another pair of AGOLDE Tonis since I had the Obscure wash, but I wasn’t reaching for them, and I kept wishing I had a pair of straight leg jeans in a lighter wash.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and order these, and I’m so glad I did. It is the perfect light wash for spring-summer, and they are very comfortable and easy to wear all day. They pair well with both sandals and sneakers, and a lot of my spring-summer tops, so I’m finding myself reaching for them more and more.

They run true to size, and you can find this exact wash at Evereve, Nordstrom, Shopbop, and others.

#4. Sam Edelman Geraldine Slides (size 8) // I’ve had these for a while and just started wearing them more recently. I love the crystal embellishments, they add a nice little bit of bling to my casual outfits.

These run small and a bit narrow, so you’ll probably want to size up. You can find them at Nordstrom, Zappos, Bloomingdale’s, and others.

#5. Brooks Chaser Running Shorts (size M) // I’ve been running more lately, now that the weather is cooperating, and I realized I was really low on running shorts. I was down to two pairs, and I’m not really sure how I got through last summer like that, but it’s certainly not going to work for me now that I’m going out to either walk or run almost every day.

I just ordered these to try, and I love them. I’m definitely going to need other colors. They have a nice soft waistband, and it’s higher than most other running shorts, which is what I was looking for. I have a pair from the Rabbit brand, which are really nice, but I don’t care for the low rise.

These Brooks Chasers are super lightweight and moisture-wicking with a comfortable jersey liner, plus two interior pockets and a back hidden-zip pocket, plus a bungee key loop. They are easily the best running shorts I’ve tried in a long time.

#6. Brooks Ghost 13 Running Shoe // I started wearing these last fall, and they quickly became my go-to running shoes, replacing the Saucony Guides that I wore for years. (To clarify, I didn’t wear the same pair for years; I got a new pair every year or so. As a rule, you should replace your running shoes about every 500 miles. I keep track on my Runkeeper app — you can actually enter your shoes, and it will tell you when it’s time to replace them, based on your mileage.)

Anyway! These are a good, supportive, neutral running shoe. I got mine at Nordstrom, but they also have them at Zappos, and they qualify for the Zappos 30 Day Runlimited Guarantee — try running in your shoes for 30 days to make sure they feel right. If you’re not happy, they’ll take them back so you can try something different.

#7. Boudreaux Boho Cuff // For affordable fashion jewelry, Victoria Emerson makes my favorite bracelets — particularly her boho cuffs. I love how they give you the layered look, but you’re one and done.

All the bracelets in the new Sheaffer X Victoria Emerson collection are stunners. The Boudreaux (above) is a beautiful mix of blush beads, crystals, and shimmering metal accents that are so feminine and pretty, and it’s neutral enough to work with a lot of my spring-summer outfits. I think it’s my favorite — either it or the Hudson (below).

The mix of turquoise beads, crystals, and shimmering metal accents are so fun for summer. They really pop against an all white outfit.

#8. Large Brushed Teardrop Earrings // Speaking of affordable fashion jewelry, I like these teardrop earrings so much, I have them in both gold and silver. They’re lightweight, fairly inexpensive, but they really stand out. I wear them mostly with casual outfits.

#9. Slip Pure Silk Adult Pleated Face Covering // I really hope we aren’t wearing these for much longer, but while we are, I got myself this new color for spring-summer. These are my favorite masks. They’re adjustable, comfortable, lightweight, and breathable; and because they’re silk, they’re gentler on your skin than most other fabrics.

Pro tip: After they’re washed (I hand-wash in Dawn dish soap and lay flat to dry) they don’t get sucked into your nose and mouth when you talk or breathe heavy, like they do at first. I also don’t use the metal nose piece unless I’m wearing them with glasses. I find them more comfortable without, and they still cover your face pretty well; I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing safety.

#10. Supergoop! Mineral Sheerscreen SPF 30 // I love this sunscreen for wearing when I exercise. I wash it off in the shower and do my morning skincare routine afterwards, and then I use my tinted SPF for the rest of the day.

This is one of the only sunscreens, mineral or otherwise, I’ve found that doesn’t make my face burn when I do my morning skincare routine after my shower. Plus it soaks in nicely and doesn’t leave a terrible white cast.

#11. Appetizers on Ice // This revolving tray that keeps your apps chilled over a bed of ice arrived this week, and it’s a keeper! It’s larger than I realized, which is fine. It also has a lot of parts, so I doubt I’ll use it a lot, but there will definitely be times that it comes in handy.

It stores easily in the box, so I”ll just keep it in the basement and use it when I am having a big crowd. I’ll try to remember to get a picture of it in use when I serve out of it for the first time.

#12. BOBI Button Down Slub Top // This is the perfect top for spring-to-summer transition weather. We’re still getting some cooler days, and I like how the lightweight slub fabric looks summery, but the long sleeves offer some extra warmth when you need it. If it’s gloomy this weekend, this is my backup top for Memorial Day. (See look #1 from yesterday’s Memorial Day Outfit Inspiration!)

#13. Sweaty Betty Pacesetter Running Tank (size M) // While I was getting some new running shorts, I also picked up this running tank, and I love it. Most of my others are pretty body-con, and I don’t always feel like wearing a tight tank — especially with the shorts with the lower rise, b/c they create a bit of a muffin top.

This one skims the body perfectly, and it’s lightweight and moisture-wicking, and it looks good on too. I also like the higher neck, as it protects my chest from the sun, which already has a lot of sun damage. I usually apply sunscreen to my chest when I apply to my face, but sometimes I forget, and with this top, I don’t have to worry about that!

I’d like to get another color, but it’s rather spendy, so I’m going to wait for the weekend and see if Sweaty Betty runs a sale. For size reference, I usually need to size up in Sweaty Betty, so I ordered the medium, and I like the fit. I got mine at Nordstrom and you can also find it at SweatyBetty.com.

  1. Hi Jo-Lynn,
I have been loving Lago jewelry for the past few years, I didn’t realize he was a Philadelphia based designer. The pieces have held up beautifully, classic design that will be used for years.
Have a nice Memorial Day weekend!!
