Nordstrom Try-Ons: Earn 3X Points thru May 8th

Good morning, friends! Nordstrom is running a Triple Points event, and I have some new spring try-ons to share with you. I took these pictures before my surgery in case I’d feel up to posting them.

Nordy Club Members and Cardmembers earn Triple Points on their Nordstrom purchases from May 5th through May 8th, so this is a great time to check out their new arrivals and spring must-haves while earning Nordstrom Notes three times as fast.

I also like to use this opportunity to refresh my basics that don’t usually go on sale, like bras, underwear, and shapewear.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops, a 28 or 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe.

Nordstrom Spring Styles

First up, these are the Wit & Wisdom Ab Solution Stretch Twill Shorts, and they come in a bunch of colors. They fit just like the Wit & Wisdom Ab Solution Denim Shorts that I have in white.

I’m wearing them with the Michael Stars Maya Tank (size S) and these Sam Edelman Naomi Sandals in Pewter (size 8).

If you want comfort sandals that aren’t frumpy, I highly recommend trying these. They have a molded footbed, and the ankle straps offer additional stability.

And I love the fit of these shorts. If you like longer shorts, these are a solid choice. They’re a stretchy twill material with denim styling. The cuff is not sewn, so you can adjust them to your liking or even wear them un-cuffed if you want.

I’m wearing the size 6 here, and they fit perfectly but with no room to spare. I’m kind of in between sizes right now, so I would say these are true to size. I’m also wearing the Halogen brushed teardrop earrings. The’re lightweight and comfortable to wear.

I also picked up these shorts in the Smokey Twilight. This lavender shade is very much on trend this spring.

These Open Edit braided slides play into the puffy shoe trend that is so hot right now. Open Edit is one of the newer Nordstrom Made brands, and the prices are really good.

These aren’t leather, but I don’t mind that so much for a trendy style like this that will only be in style for a couple of seasons.

This top is not from Nordstrom, but I really like it. The weird thing is, it’s one size fits all? I mean, there is no way… so basically, if you’re typically a small or a medium, it should work for you.

And here’s a rear view. This top has a slightly curved hemline, and it’s a quality slub knit fabric. The shorts have a 9″ un-cuffed inseam so it’s about 7″ here, with the way I have them rolled twice.

Next up, I ordered this striped tank, thinking about the Memorial Day and July 4th festivities that are on the horizon.

I sized up to a medium for the chest area, but it’s pretty loose everywhere else, so it’s basically true to size. (And yes, I’m exchanging it for the small since I won’t need the extra room in the chest by Memorial Day!)

These are the white Wit & Wisdom Ab Solution Denim Shorts, size 6. And these Caslon espadrille wedges are super cute! I like how the perforations add texture and a feminine detail. They run true to size.

Speaking of July 4th festivities, this Caslon space dyed sweater is super cute for those of us who live in colder climates. Memorial Day can be dreary and cold here in Philly, so I like to have a long-sleeve option on hand, just in case. It’s cozy and warm.

And still thinking along those lines, this striped hoodie is a great little piece to have in your spring/summer closet. I love the nautical vibe. It comes in lots of colors; I had it in red last year, and this is the navy. It’s true to size; I’m wearing the small here.

I also ordered these Caslon stretch chinos to try because I get a lot of requests for non-denim pants. I really like the slim straight fit and the 28″ inseam.

They come in four colors, and the fabric is a comfortable 97% cotton, 3% spandex.

I also picked up this blouse. It’s very cottony — more of a casual material, but you can dress it up or down.

I wore it here with the Good American Good Classic Straight white jeans I like so much. These jeans are true to size, and so is the blouse. I also love my Paily slides.

The blouse has some lavender in it, so I tried wearing it with these shorts, but I don’t really care for this pairing after all. I prefer it with white, or it also looks nice with blue jeans or navy pants.

I ordered this Halogen dress on a whim. I love the style and cut of it, but it has pockets, and they don’t lay quite right. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a great dress. I’m wearing the small.

Maybe they could be sewn shut or something? I dunno, because I really like this dress otherwise, and I have such a hard time finding flattering dresses. It’s fully lined too.

Okay, finally, we’re back to shorts. These Calson tie waist linen shorts have been around for years. I had them in a small a few years ago, and I remember them being snug, so I ordered a medium this time, and they fit perfectly.

I love the navy crossdye fabric and the relaxed fit. They also have them in solid white, black, and olive. The inseam is about 3″ so they’re definitely short, but I set them lower on my hips and I don’t feel they’re too shorty-short. They have the olive and black in a 5″ length, for those who want a longer option.

And these are the Dolce Vita Indy slides. They’re really cute and comfortable for a flat sandal. I got mine at Zappos, but Nordstrom also carries them, just not in this exact color way. Mine are the Ivory Multi Stella.

  1. So glad you’re recovering well. My daughter had that surgery and the recovery was rough! I’m loving reading Amor Towles and Taylor Reid right now. They’re fairly clean and very well written. Prayers for continued recovery!

  2. Hi! I’m glad your recovery is going well and hope that continues for you.
I just read The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. It’s a great read and my new favorite book.
Thanks for keeping us informed of your progress and for continuing to post while recovering.

  3. I have really enjoyed the series Ted Lasso,,, think its only 2 seasons in. Most recent favorite books are: Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell-beautifully written and The Maid by Nita Prose, a fast mystery read. Prayers for continued healing.

  4. Glad your recovery is underway! The Lincoln highway was great and will keep you occupied for a while. For a shorter read, I just finished Just Last Night by mhairi mcfarlane and thought it was great as well.

  5. So glad you are feeling better and hope recovery is speedy. If you like mysteries, Andrew Mayne has 2 great series on Kindle Unlimited – Jessica Blackwood or Underwater Investigations (takes place in Florida). For series on Prime – the Art of Crime (5 seasons on) and you get a great art history lesson. I also love Candice Renoir which is a french series where a mom of 4 goes back to being a police woman and solves crimes in a very unconventional way using all she learned as a mom. I also second the Longmire recommendation – always loved that and Justified.

  6. Reading the Guilded Years. Very good characters. Glad your recovery is going well. Keep taking it easy!

  7. Happy to hear you are resting and recovering. I would highly recommend any books by Charles Martin. He rights Christian fiction and his books are very moving. Shows to watch – Madam Secretary, Virgin River, House, Heartland, Bones just to name a few :).

  8. My favorite books so far this year are:
The Wedding Dress, I think you may have recommended this one
    Sweet Taste of Muscadines
    Maybe in Another Life
    Praying for you♥️

  9. So glad your recovery is coming along! Any suggestions on what outfits to take for a trip to Venice, Italy in September maybe ideas of what you would have taken on your Paris trip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.

  10. Glad you’re feeling better. Hopefully the worst is behind you. We enjoyed Ted Lasso on Apple TV and Bosch on Prime as well as The Crown on Prime. Currently I’m really loving Call the Midwife on Masterpiece. My favorite genre for books is historical fiction. Anything by Kate Quinn is excellent. Sending healthy vibes your way!

  11. I love anything written by Francine Rivers. She writes excellent Christian fiction. I am currently reading a 2 book series about mothers and daughters.

  14. Oh no! I’m sorry I guess I missed reading about this! What type of surgery did you have? I hope that you’re feeling better and prayers for a speedy recovery!!

  15. I love the Wit and Wisdom brand .. it just works well for me.. I didn’t realize they had all of these colors in the shorts! Thanks 🙂

  16. Try the Durrells in Corfu on Prime Video. It’s lighthearted, fun storyline, easy to watch, and gorgeous scenery.

Praying your recovery continues to go well!

  17. I just finished watching a Netflix series called “Anatomy of a Scandal”. It was really good! I think there were six episodes.

  18. Glad you’re on the road to recovery!! It’s a few years old but I just finished A Man Called Ove….sooooo great! Thanks for all you do, you deserve this time to rest 🙂

  19. We are enjoying The Gilded Age on HBO. Also, The Chosen truly is wonderful (you can watch on The Chosen app). Sending prayers for your smooth recovery!

  20. Great finds. I really need to get to a Nordstrom to try on shorts. I just might be able to get the Wit and Wisdom ones as their jeans fit me good. I really hate to shop for shorts. I just can’t seem to get the right fit or length that I feel good in. You really can wear all lengths even the 3″ looks good on you. I love the blue linen ones on you. I love the braided paisley sandals but the heel is too high, so when Cyndi styled the lower heel version I was so excited and ordered, but taking them to Fedx today to return. The non leather rubs my toes, as the toe area is so narrow and I don’t have wide feet. I should have read the reviews as many said the same thing and got blisters. I wish for the price you pay($100) they would do leather. The faux leather doesn’t give. I just love the heel height, just what I needed for dresses etc. I’ve spend more time returning online orders, I’m ready to go to a store and do try-ons. 🙂 I’m glad you are resting most the time, but I understand you probably like to sit and type some too. I was happy to hear from you. 🙂 Oh, as for the navy dress with weird pockets, I’d think Nordstrom alterations could fix it but I would wait if I was you. I bet you will be surprised how different things fit with smaller chest. You might start needing some XS tops etc. The dress is cute. I want to look for more casual dresses too. I’d love for you to style more in the future. Plain t-shirt type style to replace shorts. Enjoy your resting. I’ll have to think about a good book or TV series. I don’t watch much TV unless its the old old shows from back in my childhood like Leave IT To Beaver etc. LOL I am enjoying American Idol though. I’ll check my books. Have a good day.

  21. Books I suggest – The Second Mrs. Astor, Not a Perfect Family.
All cute outfits on you, even the dress, (which mostly got terrible reviews on the site).

  22. Glad to hear your surgery went well. Enjoy the down time to rest and recover. My daughter and I binge watched Ted Lasso while we recovered from COVID. It was a fun, feel good series. I have not watched it myself, but a lot of people have recommended Yellowstone.

  23. Since I have not paid attention to this being a triple points weekend at Nordstrom, thank you for bringing it to our attention. You shared some really nice things! I hope that your recovery is going well!

  24. Hi Jo-Lynne,
Thanks for sharing the Nordstrom finds. Good to know about triple points, too. I need some casual summer clothes! So happy to hear you’re feeling a little better since the surgery. Rest as much as you can so your body can heal. Prayers for continued recovery!

  25. For book recommendations, anything by Alan Lee. Most of his books are set in Roanoke. Best wishes on your recovery.

  26. Here’s to a speedy recovery. I know it’s difficult to sit around a lot when you are an active person.
Some of the recent views we really enjoyed:, The Gilded Age, Ted Lasso, Julia (Child), Outlander, the Offer.

  27. I hope you’re feeling better Jo-Lynne! Surgery is never fun, but the end result is what you want. I’m going to suggest Lies & Deceit on Netflix. Just finished it.I believe 6 episodes. Of course the new season of Ozark is back. So good.

  28. My favorite book is “The Color of Rain” by Gina Kell Spehn and Michael Spehn. I also love anything by Mary Higgins Clark. Nora Roberts is really good, too. I especially loved her “In The Garden” trilogy. As for shows, I love Sweet Magnolias! My husband and I love Ted Lasso, Yellowstone, A Million Little Things, New Amsterdam, This Is Us, and Ghosts. So glad to hear you’re doing well! Still praying for your recovery!
